DIY Fact or Fiction Saltwater Crocodile Game Reading comprehension can be tough for some children when it comes to learning facts about things like animals where the topics can be technical. One way that I like to make this learning more fun is to create a game that will turn the emphasis into learning with fun about facts instead of just learning facts from a list. When the facts come in a storybook geared towards children it makes it that much more fun to make the fact learning into a fun game. With that in mind, I set out to create a fun fact or fiction themed game for the Hands-On Activities for Kids Monthly Link-Up that would not only be fun to make, but also tie into a fun book too. My hope is that this hands-on DIY Fact or Fiction Saltwater Crocodile Game to go along with Saltwater Crocodiles by Katie Marsico will help make your storybook learning fun, in a hands-on way that works on reading comprehension. Materials Needed To make your very own hands-on DIY Fact or Fiction Saltwater Crocodile Game to go with the storybook Saltwater Crocodiles you will need the following materials to make two crocodiles:  A copy of Saltwater Crocodiles by Katie  Pom Pom Balls (White, Black) Marsico  Puffy Paint, Green  DIY Fact or Fiction Saltwater Crocodile  Hot Glue and Glue Gun Game PDF (see below)  Small Water Bottle  Green Pool Noodle  Fun Squirt Guns  White Foam  Scissors Start by following these easy instructions to make your very own DIY Fact or Fiction Saltwater Crocodiles to use in your game to go with the storybook Saltwater Crocodiles as you read it with or to your children. 1

Start by cutting a small piece off of your green pool noodle. I found that a 5 inch piece worked best. Once it is cut off the end, carefully cut it in half from the front to the back.

Then, cut a small piece off the edge of the top or bottom halves, in the back, to make the opening of the jaw.

Carefully hot glue the mouth pieces together in the open position.

Next, two rows of teeth out of the white foam. You can make them in any pattern you want.

5 Carefully hot glue the teeth onto the two sides of your mouth.

Next comes the fun part. Use hot glue to attach two large white pom pom balls for eyes to the top of your mouth. Then, use hot glue again to attach two smaller black pom pom balls to the white ones to complete your eyes. To finish off your DIY Fact or Fiction Saltwater Crocodile you can either use two small green pom pom balls for the nostrils or use green puffy paint like I did. I just do not know why, but I love my puffy paints. Once it is all dry attach a small water bottle to the back of your crocodile’s mouth.
