When it comes to water skiing Bob LaPoint has done it all. The first skier to ever run the magical 38off rope length, Bob dominated the sport of professional water skiing for well over a decade. Along the way he set 5 World Records, won 5 World Championships and with his brother Kris created the iconic LaPoint Skis brand. Bob can ski, design, coach and test… but his real passion stands out with his beautifully sculpted, handmade development skis. His ability to trans-form concepts to reality with a circular saw, file and Bondo is HO’s secret ingredient and why more slalom skiers ride HO skis than any other.
With a formal education in engineering and slalom skiing, Dave Wingerter possesses a unique skill set capable of reshaping the sport of water skiing. A life spent on both sides of the ski, Dave has led the team behind some of the most successful water skis ever made, while at the same time having ridden his creations to national championships and pro tour competitions.

Two of the seven skiers all-time to complete the 41off line length, Will Asher and Jon Travers are the heart and soul of the 36mphspecific Syndicate test team. With styles, attitudes and slalom stances at opposite sides of the spectrum, when Willy and JT can agree on a ski design we at HO Skis know we have a winner.
From setting the world record at age 13 to clearing the 39off loop at age 60, Kris LaPoint is the world’s greatest ski tester. More experienced than any other skier in the world, Kris is the most dedicated ski tester, documenter and calculator water skiing has ever seen. If Bob is the craftsmen, then Kris is the scientist and it is this LaPoint brother collaboration that produces the world’s greatest slalom skis.
THE Big Dawg, Greg Badal trains harder and longer than just about any other skier in the world. From running 39off in his drysuit in January, to winning Big Dawg events in July, Greg is always on the top of his game. Instrumental in the 34mph-specific testing of each and every Syndicate ski built, Greg possesses a dedication unmatched in water skiing.

Carbon is the strongest material on earth. Its unmatched strength to weight ratio has allowed water skis to cut weight from over 8 pounds, to under 4. However, it is another property, called Springvalue or K-value, that makes a carbon water ski accelerate so quickly. Carbon’s inherent stiffness causes it to return to its original shape quicker than any other material. This is why carbon fiber makes a better spring than fiberglass! As a result, your water ski snaps back to its acceleration shape at the finish of a turn lightening fast, providing skiers with the highest performance imaginable. HO is proud to manufacture every slalom ski in our product line with carbon laminates in the quantity and orientation best suited to the type of skiing you choose.
You might not be able to see it, but the core is the most critical structural component of your water ski. Where carbon is the horsepower, a water ski core is the foundation of a great ski. Powerful, durable and accurate all while being as light as possible is the key to a great water ski core. That is why for 2015 HO Skis introduces 100% machined polyurethane cores for its entire CrossOver Ski Collection. The same 100% machined core manufacturing process developed specifically for the Syndicate Course Collection of skis has been applied to the polyurethane cores of the 2015 CX and TX skis. The result is the world’s finest, lightest and ultimately best skiing water skis only US manufacturing can deliver.
If you asked Marcus Brown he would tell you something about boundary layer theory and laminar vs turbulent flow, but trust us on this fact, fish have scales and so should your ski! A textured ski base knocks all those pesky water molecules from sticking to your ski and as a result your ski doesn't have to drag them through the water with you. If you don't have to pull around these extra water molecules your ski has less drag and you don't have to expend as much energy to ski. Less Energy to Ski = More Skiing = More Fun!

what type of skier are you? COURSE, CROSS OR FREE? We’ve found that there are 3 basic types of slalom skiers based on their environment and preference. For example: if you enjoy slaloming the course, turning buoys, and going for gold at tournaments you’ll need a different ski setup than someone who enjoys cruising the big lakes and rivers and ripping turns in the open water. “But I like to do all of those things!” you say? Well, we make skis specific to cross-over types as well. No matter where, when, or how you ski, we make a line specifically tailored for you!

Speed + Angle = Velocity. Born from velocity is V-TYPE. The all new 2015 Syndicate slalom ski comes from over 5 years of research into the speed and angle components of slalom skiing combined into one velocity vector. V-TYPE includes the stability and speed of the Syndicate S-series with the angle seeking aggression of the Syndicate A-series. The result is a refined superski capable of pushing limits while inspiring confidence. V-TYPE is built on an all new “V-Shaped” profile. The wider profile of a Syndicate S2 is located under the skier’s front foot, but quickly tapers into the narrow tail section of a Syndicate A3. V-TYPE’s narrower tail section generates amazing angle immediately out of the buoy, while the wider platform under the skier’s front foot provides unmatched speed and stability. The all new Velocity Rocker combines an increased tail rocker section with a clearly defined rocker flat spot located under the skier’s front foot. The increased tail rocker section allows the ski to naturally seek angle out of the turn and off of the wakes. The rocker flat spot provides the speed needed to reach maximum course width and a solid platform to balance on. The finishing touch to the 2015 V-TYPE is Stability Tuning. A strategically located stainless steel tip weight combined with an elastomer damping pad, dampens the natural frequency of the V-TYPE’s shovel for increased stability. With an effect similar to a slalom ski’s wing, Stability Tuning allows skier’s to fine tune tip pressure and harmonic resonance to maximize performance.

The ultimate in cross-over ski technology, skis designed to deliver maximum performance with unparalleled efficiency. The all-new 2015 Cross-Over Collection marries the high performance design of a Syndicate ski, with the ultra-efficient Clean Edge technology of a Freeride ski. The HO design team began with a record-breaking Syndicate ski design, increased the surface area of the ski by one ski size from the tip of the ski to the just behind the heel of the rear foot. Behind the rear foot the skis transition from traditional to futuristic, as the sidewalls rotate inward like a wakeboard edge and ski bevels disappear in the tail section of the ski. The combination of these two features allows the water to release cleanly off the bottom of the ski, as opposed to the traditional ski design in which water wraps around the bevel of the ski, up the sidewall and releases of the upper edge of the ski, thereby reducing the drag associated with this portion of the ski by 50%. Clean Edge technology is a step into the modern age of ski design and the lack of physical effort required to ride these skis will forever change a skier’s perception of what is possible. The day water skiers found the magic combination of carbon fiber and PVC foam core slalom skis, the water ski world changed. If you weren’t skiing on a ski with this carbon fiber-PVC foam combination, you were at a significant disadvantage from your competitors. More importantly you were missing out on the most amazing feeling of effortless acceleration you have ever imagined. For years skiers were forced to purchase high end, traditional width, tournament slalom skis, designed to make 6 turns at the shortest line lengths imaginable, in order to feel the rush and exhilaration only the world’s finest ski materials had to offer. The truth is, the majority of these skiers weren’t tournament level slalom course skiers and really needed a completely different ski for their typical cross-over ski environments. This revolutionary ski technology allows skiers to ski behind any boat, at any speed, in any water condition. The beveled edge of a traditional water ski allows water to wrap around the bottom of the ski and up the sidewall where it finally releases off the ski’s top edge. Clean Edge Technology is bevel-less and the sidewalls are rotated inward like a wakeboard edge. The combination of these two design features causes water to release cleanly off the bottom surface of the Freeride resulting in a 50% less drag than conventional skis. By having 50% less drag than a conventional ski, skiers are now able to slow the boat down to wakeboard speeds and enjoy skiing without sinking and having to deal with excessive spray and drag. This opens the possibility of skiing behind all types of boats; inboards, outboards, I/O’s, personal water craft and even cable parks. In addition, this effortless skiing at reduced speeds allows skiers to easily negotiate any reasonable type of water condition. SPHERE TUBE TECHNOLOGY PROBLEM:
As towables get larger, the surface area contacting the water increases. Increased contact creates more drag. Increased drag requires more energy to whip the tube behind the boat and causes a slower, less exciting ride. In general, most larger tubes a) are less lively, b) are harder to whip, c) require more energy to tow, and d) cause more strain on the boat.
SOLUTION: HO SPHERE TECHNOLOGY™ Given the problem above, designing large tubes has typically meant creating a larger version of a smaller existing tube. Patented HO Sphere Technology™, however, opens up doors to a whole new way of thinking. The problem of drag is solved by reducing the surface area contacting the water. This design process is evident in the HO Molecule, Molecule 2D and Molecule 3S tubes. These Sphere Technology™ tubes have large spheres arrayed at the corners of the main deck. CROISSANT + D O NUT = C R O NUT Donut tubes have been around since the beginning. In the early days folks would put a strap around a truck tire inner tube and tow it behind the boat. Eventually ski companies started making donuts with a nylon cover and a tow hook to attach your ski rope. Tube designs have changed rapidly over the years, but one thing has remained constant and unchanged…the donut tube! The design team at HO asked ourselves: what can be done to improve a donut? New for 2015, HO is proud to introduce the Cronut series of inflatables, a tapered donut shape that represents a cross between a croissant and a donut. Cronuts have two tow hooks, one on each end of the tube. When in the seated position the thicker half of the tube acts as a backrest giving the rider a more natural, ergonomic riding position.
