Dog Training Club

Photo Shoot Saturday 28th March 2015 from 2pm ALL SPACES FOR THE PHOTO SHOOT HAVE NOW BEEN TAKEN!! For those who have been advised of an allocated time slot, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your slot to settle your dog down, gather your props, groom your dog etc. Please knock before entering to avoid disturbing those being photographed. Don’t forget to bring your £5 per dog with you! Please ensure we have an up to date email address to which Helen can email the best of the photographs. If anyone would like any help getting photos printed after the event (eg like the Fun Day photos were printed and framed), please see Lynn Gibney. ALL PROCEEDS TO WIMBLEDON GREYHOUND WELFARE NB Due to the popularity of this event, as several people enquired too late to book a time slot, we will be asking Helen to return another day to do a similar Photo Shoot, so look out for dates – and book early to avoid disappointment! Hopefully she might also be available at the Fun Day to take Photos should people want professional photos of their dogs. Watch this space for more news.

CHARITY SALE/AUCTION As advised in the January Newsletter, the Club has had several items donated which we are selling/auctioning in aid of Lurcher SOS (a charity committed to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming abused, abandoned and neglected Lurchers, greyhounds and other sighthounds). The sale/auction will take place on the same afternoon as the Photo Shoot. If you have not booked a photo slot for your pet but would still like to come along and buy any of the items or place a bid, please do come along, but leave your dog(s) at home. For full details of how to place a bid, or to buy an item, please see back page. t: 01784 451848 m: 07939 189917 e: [email protected]

CHARITY RUN Dave Southern (one of the Club’s assistant trainers) is taking part in the Forest of Dean Trail Half Marathon on Sunday 29th March. The course will be a 13.2 miles circular route through the forest, starting/finishing at The Speech House Hotel. Dave will be taking part with his two dogs –Maggie and Boogie (as per the photos). This type of running with your dog(s) is called Canicross and is a popular pastime for dogs and handlers alike. The Canicross race will be starting at 8:30am an hour before the main race on March 29th. Dave is running to raise money for Greyhounds in Need (GIN) which is an English registered charity concerned with the plight of greyhounds, especially the Spanish-bred hunting greyhounds (galgos). If you would like to support Dave and help raise funds for this worthwhile charity please sponsor Dave (or his dogs – they have to run the same distance!) using the form on the noticeboard in the barn.
