3E Online® General User Guide 3E Online-MSDS provides online access to hazardous material inventory and associated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Instant Internet access offers immediate viewing and printing of any MSDS from a customer's inventory and assists in compliance with OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1200. Startup is highly efficient with no installation required. 3E Online is delivered via an easy and intuitive web browser interface that puts EH&S information and compliance one click away. System Requirements To insure proper functionality and enhanced performance of 3E Online, it is recommended that you check your system against the minimum and recommended system requirements. You do not need a User Name or Password to access this feature. By clicking the “Minimum Requirements” link on the login page a pop-up window will appear that will compare your system with the minimum requirements needed. Advanced Security 3E Online uses advanced technology to uniquely identify each user: 1. By protecting customer data 2. Ensuring access is always available 3. Preventing unauthorized password swapping 4. Facilitates tracking of user activity Logging Into the System Once you have confirmed that your system has the minimum system requirements you can login with the username and password that was assigned during the initial rollout of 3E Online. If you cannot locate your username and password please contact your supervisor on site for additional information. Facility Tree After logging into 3E Online you will see the modules your username and password have permissions for on the tool bar.

Once selected, the navigational menu will appear and your Facility Tree is located on the left-hand side of your screen that represents your organization. Clicking the (+) symbol next to the facility name will expand the tree, showing sub-facilities or departments.

MSDS Search To conduct a search in one or all of these facilities, simply: 1. 3E Online® General User Guide 2. Click on the Search tab at the top of your screen to begin your search. 3. Select from the drop down box to Search by: Manufacturer Name, Manufacturer Number, Product Name, Internal Number, CAS#, Chemical Name or Product Properties (requires purchase of Classification Module). 4. Choose a Using modifier by clicking the down arrow box to help narrow or broaden your search. 5. Enter what you want to search for in the Search Criteria field. 6. Click the Search button to bring up the search results screen. 7. To Search again, select the Reset button to clear out your last search and enter in your new Search Criteria.

MSDS Search Results A list will be displayed based on the search criteria you selected. You can then view an MSDS and its related data by clicking on the hyper-linked Product Name. You can change the number of Products per page or view subsequent pages by using the controls located at the top of the page.

*Please note: If the Product Name is not hyper-linked then there currently is not an MSDS matched to the product.

3E Online® General User Guide Details To check all information on file of any product in your inventory click the Details button. The screen following will also display one of the following product statuses: “Inventory Item Matched” – The product has been matched to an MSDS image and is viewable online. “3E In Process” – 3E is matching the product to the MSDS image or has requested the image from the manufacturer. “Customer Action Needed” – 3E requires additional information in order to post the correct MSDS image online. Additional information about the product, manufacturer, or a history of our contact with you on this item can be found by clicking the Click for Details link. You will see all of the information we have received from your company about the product including manufacturer name, storage information, quantity information, as well as inventory item status. Related This option will show you all other products in your inventory that are matched to the same MSDS as the product you are viewing. This function will allow you to check for duplicates in your inventory. View Product Information Once you have selected a hyper-linked product name from the search results screen, you will see a View Product Information screen. To view the actual MSDS for the selected product click the View option as shown below.

3E Online® General User Guide This will open the MSDS image in a new browser window using Adobe Acrobat® Reader. To return to the Search page simply close this new browser window.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view and print MSDSs. If you do not have this software, you can download this for FREE by clicking on the Adobe Acrobat icon located in the bottom right hand corner of the 3E Online screen.

Printing a Material Safety Data Sheet Adobe Acrobat Reader allows you to scroll through an MSDS page by page. You can also zoom in to read any section of the MSDS by using the controls on the Adobe Acrobat Reader toolbar. To print a material safety data sheet you will need to click the printer icon in the Adobe Acrobat toolbar right above the document. *Be sure to use the printer icon on the Acrobat toolbar and not the printer icon at the top of your browser.

MSDS Email To email an MSDS click the Email option in the View Product Information screen. You will need to enter the email address of the person you will be sending the MSDS to and add any additional notes in the message box. A link to the MSDS will be included in the email. The recipient will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the MSDS.

MSDS Fax To fax an MSDS click the Fax option in the View Product Information screen. You will need to enter the fax number of the person you are sending the MSDS to and add any additional notes in the Comment box.

Product Data To view product specific data, first click on the product name on the search results screen. Scroll to the bottom of the View Product Information screen. Here are several links that allow you to view the additional product information. The links you have access to depend on the services your username and password permissions.

Summary: View Product Information, Physical Properties, Classification, NFPA/HMIS, Site Information and Notes Ingredients: View CAS # and Chemical Names within the inventory item you are viewing. You can also see what other products in your inventory have that same chemical. Quantity: Product Quantities that the client can enter to keep track of how much of that product they have in their inventory. Locations: Where the product is located within your facility. Class: If you have purchased the classification module you will be able to see how that product has been classified by Fire code Classification, Physical Health Hazards, NFPA, and HMIS classification. Label: NFPA and HMIS label information is available online. If you have purchased pre-colored blank labels from Labelmaster you can simply put them in your printer (does not need to be color) and choose what labels you would like to print. Both Classification and Labeling services are available at an additional cost.

Reporting Selecting the Inventory Manager tab allows you to generate up-to-date Product Status Reports.

This option allows you to view, search, and print standard inventory lists for all items in the selected facility. You have the option to sort these reports by Manufacturer, Product Name, Facility, Internal Number, Revision Date, Products Sharing an MSDS [duplicate], Status, CAS number or Facility with Notes. *For most users, the system will ask you to install the Crystal Reports Java Viewer. Users will need to have a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed. This can be either a Microsoft JVM (Windows 2000 and previous versions) or the Sun JVM, v 1.4.2 (Windows XP). The JVM can be downloaded from www.java.com. All browsers must accept Java applets. Inventory reports will display with a split screen showing a preview screen on the left side and the main report on the right. The preview screen will list the sorting option you selected in alphabetical order. You have the ability to select where you want to go in the actual report by clicking on a selected item in the Preview screen. The Preview screen also expands and collapses by clicking on the (+) and (-) signs.

3E Online® General User Guide Other toolbar functions allow you to: 1. Print the report by clicking on the printer icon in the toolbar right above the report. 2. Export the report (to Excel, Word, or RTF) by clicking on the white envelope icon at the top of your report. This will bring up an export pop up box. Export format will default to Crystal Reports (.rpt), to the right there is a drop down box, click on the drop down box and select the format you would like to save this as (i.e. Word, Excel) Then select the browse button. You can now save this information on your own computer. Name the new file and click on save. 3. Scroll manually through the report by using the arrows in the toolbar above document.

EHS Lists Regulated Chemical Lists (EHS Lists): Compare your inventory to more than 50 regulatory lists to reflect regulated and potentially regulated products and chemicals. Select EHS Lists, then choose from a Category to search in: Health & Safety, Environmental, State, International and Customer Specific.

Modules Modules are subscription services that you can add on to your existing 3E Online service for an additional fee. Please contact your Sales Manager for additional information at (800) 360-3220.



Classification: Detail and summary reports of the data available in the Classification Module are available by selecting the Modules tab, then choosing from the following reports: Hazard Class, Physical State, HMIS, NFPA and VOC. You can also search for a product, similar to MSDS Search, and click the “Class” link at the bottom of the View Product Information Screen to view Classification data for the selected product.



Labels: The 3E Online Labeling Module allows you to view and print HMIS, NFPA and secondary container labels using pre-printed color label sheets. These labels are generated online allowing the user to imprint the ratings on-demand, customer specific notes field and improved print control, using preprinted label sheets and a laser printer. HMIS and NFPA labels can be ordered through Labelmaster. Custom labels can be ordered through Avery-Dennison.



SARA Reports To run the Tier II Chemical Candidate Lists, select Modules and click Tier II. You will be given a choice to view all chemicals in your inventory or only chemicals that exceed the reporting threshold.

Your Documents The Company Proprietary Documents Module will provide you with the ability to add proprietary documents into the Client’s existing 3E Online website thereby providing 24-7-365 access for employees. Admin Tab The Admin tab allows you to order additional materials, view user activity and create custom CAS number lists.

3E Online® General User Guide Start Up Materials The Admin tab allows you to order additional start up materials for use at your facilities using 3E Online and the MSDS On Demand® program.

Phone stickers and wallet cards can be ordered by filling out the form and clicking the submit button. Forms, such as posters and inventory instructions can be downloaded individually or together via email. You can also fill out the spill questionnaire, which is used by 3E Company as a guide by our spill specialists when responding to a chemical incident at a customer facility. Web Site User Activity Reports The Admin tab allows you to review Web Site Activity by authorized users on the 3E Online site. The Detail report shows information on logins to 3E Online. The Summary report displays a month-by-month summary of visits, images viewed, emails sent and other usage information. Custom Lists If you have administrative rights, you can create a custom CAS Number list. The CAS Number’s will be checked against the 3E Company CAS Number database for quality and accuracy. Each selection will compare the CAS Number’s in your inventory with those in the chosen regulatory list and display all of those that match. Additional information about the specific chemical and its relation to the regulatory lists can be found by clicking the CAS Number. Help To access our Frequently asked questions click the FAQ option under the Help tab of the 3E Online toolbar. You can also access our General User Guide our minimum system requirements under Online Help. The Glossary of Terms is there to help assist with questions you may have regarding topics may have seen online, but need an additional explanation.
