What do I need to do to get my permit? If you do not have a Washington State ID card please go to www. dol.wa.gov and pre-apply for your first WA license. After you confirm your account, the DOL will send you an email confirmation with your ID number. Once we receive your application with payment and this number we will submit a permit waiver on-line for you. You may then get your permit as early as 10 days prior to your class starting as long as you are 15 years old. Please submit this number or the number on your Washington State ID card to your B&B registration form. This number will begin with the first letters of your last name.

What do I need to do to get a Washington State Driver’s License When you have completed your classroom portion of driver’s ed and you are paid in full you are eligible to take the DOL written test. The first written test will be administered directly after the last class. Any make-ups will be by appointment. The DOL drive test may be taken in a B&B car. When you have completed Driver Education and have passed the DOL written test you will be eligible to take the drive test. Most students will need additional parent led practice before they are ready to test. When you feel confident, call the B&B office at 466-2343 to schedule your road test. *Please wait at least 2 weeks after you have completed to call. This will enable your classroom teacher to supply the office with your records and for all checks to clear. Your driver’s license. When you have: Passed your written test. Received your completion certificate. Passed your road test. Have had your permit for 6 months. Received 50 hours of parent led practice, (including 10 hours nighttime) Turned 16 years old. Congratulations, if you are now 16 years old, go to your nearest Department of Licensing. B&B is not the Department of Licensing. We are an approved site to administer testing for licensure. You will need to go the nearest DOL to apply for your license. Their application fee is $35 and your Washington Drivers License is $54. Parent Information Letter Dear Parent: Your student is now involved in one of the most important classes he/she will take during their teenage years. Car crashes are leading cause of death among teenagers. B&B Driving School is committed to developing skills to keep your teenager alive. Some things about our program you should know: *Cost of the Program: $475 for the Basic Program. $505 for the Xtreme Program, which includes skid control training. If made in payments, $250 to secure a spot, and the balance within the first 4 weeks of class start date. A $10 per month late fee will be charged to balances not paid within the first 4 weeks of class start date. Cash or credit payments will only be accepted on or after the last week of class. *Payment must be paid in full before DOL testing. *Classroom: Students may not enroll after the 3rd day of class. Students may not miss more than three scheduled classes or will be dropped from class. No refund will be given. Students are given an assignment sheet with dates and classroom activities. Students must pass a comprehensive test with 80% competency. Make sure they bring their own pen or pencil to each class. Classes must run at least 5 weeks and not exceed 5 weeks after the last day of class. Students must receive at least 1 hour of weekly instruction until completion. DOL {WAC308-108-150(4)} *Simulation: 4 hours of computer interactive simulation is used to develop good driving habits and reinforce the behind-the-wheel activities. *Permits: A permit may be given as early as 10 days prior to the starting of your students’ class. Take a certified copy of birth certificate, social security #, $25, and a parent or legal guardian to the Department of Licensing. Their hours are Tuesday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Thursday morning they are opening at 9:30 a.m. Permits need to be brought to each drive. A no permit may result in additional fees. Please have your student pick up a Driver Guide while at DOL. *Driving: Student permit will be required by the second week of class to start drives. Student is required to complete 5 hours behind the wheel, 1 hour observation and 4 hours of simulation. Three hours of drives are required by class 15. Students will be evaluated after each drive. This evaluation will need to be brought home, signed and returned on their next drive. A $25 no show or cancellation fee will be charged to students missing a scheduled drive. Parent led driving practice is mandatory between drives. The Graduated Licensing Law will be printed on the back of your students driving log. Additional drives will be offered at a discounted rate of $55 an hour for those interested students. DOL Written and Drive Test: Program includes two written tests and one drive test. Please go to bbdrivingschool.net to read B&B DOL testing policies and procedures. *Skid Monster Training: One hour of skid control training using a specially equipped car that teaches the student how to prevent, identify, and correct traction loss. Please schedule training during the last phase of their driver’s education class. Training will be available each month for your convenience. Student will need to return the attached release to their teacher if interested. *Completion: Your student is complete when paid in full, has attended all classes, turned in and passed all class activities, participated in all drives and has satisfied all requirements stated on the Parent Letter. “Winter Driving”

“The Skid Monster” (recently seen on KHQ News) The “Skid Monster” is a vehicle control simulator, a speed control simulator, and a traction loss simulator. It’s an exciting, challenging an unforgettable teacher. Drivers learn: * How vision keeps car control * How as little as 1 -2 mph of speed change can be the cause of a major skid. * To feel reduced grip between the road and tires, and where the envelope of traction exists. * Crash avoidance skills and reacting to secondary skids. * How to prevent, detect, and recover from adverse conditions. New drivers, experienced drivers, young drivers, and seasoned drivers, the Skid Monster gives you the opportunity to practice correct behavioral techniques. The Skid Monster allows drivers to gain confidence while experiencing failure and success in a safe environment. This XTREME CONTROL encounter is for the entire family. REQUIREMENTS 1. Participant must have a valid Instruction Permit or Drivers License. 2. Complete the Release, Waiver, and Indemnification form. (on back of parent letter) 3. One hour training, three students per hour. $30 per person. Available to B&B students and their families. Make payment in full by cash, check, or credit card to complete enrollment. Take payment with release to your teacher. 4. Training times will be available on designated weekends and school holidays. Call B&B office for times and dates of training. 5. Training is located at Spokane Fairgrounds. Take the south entrance on Havana Street, drive straight back until you see the gate opening with the Skid Monster sign on the right. 6. Re-scheduling for skid monster training must occur at least 72 hours prior to appointment.
