Overview:

Benefits:

The DMS26 is a 2-in/6-out digital processor offering all the necessary routing and distribution functionality for system management. Primarily intended for the management and processing of large systems, the DMS26 can also be used for loudspeaker processing, as a replacement for a non-dynamic analogue APG processor. Presets for Micro Axial, Micro and Dispersion Series loudspeakers and associated subwoofers are available on request.

The DMS26 is characterised by the high quality electronics that are an integral part of the design concept. The use of high specification converters and the quality of its design make for an unprecedented level of performance. It has an extremely simple user interface based on three velocity-sensitive rotary encoders which provide instant access to most parameters.

The number of filtering, EQ and time-alignment functions makes the DMS26 ideal for the management of FOH systems, such as Matrix Array APG4000 and APG6000 in conjunction with APG’s dynamic Matrix processors. The combination of DMS26 for system management and APG dynamic processors for active processing and loudspeaker protection constitutes a highly sophisticated, versatile and reliable solution for any APG system. DMS26 may be configured and controlled via the front panel or via the PWAPG software, which is quickly installed, instantly usable and offers real-time remote control of all relevant parameters. Networking capabilities are available via an optional BVNETCARD card and BVNETADAPT interface.

Processing functions include: On each input: Gain, High and Low-pass filters, High and Low shelving, 6-band parametric EQ and delay. On each output: Gain, Crossovers, High and Low shelving, 6-band parametric EQ, phase reverse, delay and limiter. A complete set of parameters can be saved, and later recalled, in any one of the 50 presets. The PWAPG software enables remote control of the device via an RS232 port or over a network using an optional plug-in enabling BvNet connectivity.

1. 2. PWAPG software Overview The PWAPG software provides instant access to all of the editable parameters via a simple yet highly intuitive graphic user interface. It is also a powerful remote control tool which enables control of up to 119 DMS26 devices simultaneously over a BvNet network. In turn this enables the transfer of presets between the device and a PC, either to save existing presets onto a PC, or to load new ones into the device. The software also provides access to functions and information that are not available from the front panel, such as firmware updates, device-cloning, the “Mute All” function, cut-and-paste, and delay distance in meters.

Minimum requirements PC (or Mac with PC emulation) 32-bit OS (Windows NT, 2000, XP or Vista) CD reader or internet access RS232 or USB* port *requires an adapter. NB – the network runs faster via RS232, hence this is the recommended method of connection.

3. Remote control via a PC The APG DMS26 system processor may be remotely controlled in two different ways: -

Via the onboard RS232 port This is an end-to-end link which only allows for the connection of a single device to the PC

-

Via the BvNet network (optional) BvNet is a high speed digital networking technology to enable the remote control and monitoring of APG DMS26 processors. BvNet utilises a CAT5 cable to link up to 119 devices on a simple network structure that does not require any external equipment such as a patchbay.

DMS26 processors may be “daisy-chained” to each other via the “link” output to the “In” input using standard rigid CAT5 network cables with RJ45 connectors. However, for mobile applications we recommend the use of a dedicated flexible cable (such as the AUDIOLAN 4P10 from the CAE Group) and Neutrik “Ethercon” connectors. Rigid cables and RJ45 connectors are better suited to fixed installations and internal rack cabling.

5. Accessories Optional BvNet card This card plugs into the extension slot on the back of the DMS26 and enables BvNet network functionality. It is furnished with two Ethercon Neutrik connection points (sockets) and two LEDs for testing the incoming and outgoing signals and as a visual reference for network activity. The card is easily installed by removing the blank plate and screwing the BvNet card (screws provided) into its place and plugging the multipin connector into the I/O card. Full instructions and photos are provided as part of the installation kit.

The BVNETADAPT interface This interface enables access to a BvNet network via a PC for remote control and monitoring of the devices on the network. It provides two connectivity options – RS232 serial port or USB. The device itself consists of a rugged steel box which will easily fit into any laptop computer bag, or in a standard 19” rack with the appropriate fixings (optional). An external power supply will also fit into the same 1U rack space.
