Digital Art This quarter course provides students with the opportunity to learn about the arts through an exploration of art history, themes, styles, and techniques. Students will experience traditional and contemporary art styles through a computer based, digital exploration. Adobe Creative Suite Software, digital drawing tablets, computers, light tables, and other contemporary tools will be utilized to create original artwork. Identify & describe design elements & principles of design including balance, emphasis, movement, pattern, proportion, rhythm, and unity. Can apply these principles and elements effectively through the design and production of original artwork. Experiments with ideas and shows evidence of choices made for expressive effect. Brainstorming, problem solving, and applying lesson criteria. Applies previously learned concepts. Understands, manages and utilizes various design software including the Adobe Creative Suite to effectively, creatively and efficiently complete design work. Students demonstrate ability to independently manage files, print, and problem solve software issues that arise. Develops the technical skills needed to utilize various media, tools and techniques in a safe, developmentally appropriate manner. Create original artwork that meets intended commercial or artistic purpose through the use of color, elements and principles of design, effort and experimentation. Students will be assessed through their daily class performance for productivity, organization and problem solving in meeting deadlines. Students will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of design principles through the production and presentation of original artwork.
