FFTA / GrCI Flexographic Workshops

Digital Prepress for Flexography Presented March 30 - April 1 and September 28-30, 2005 This three-day, hands-on workshop will provide you with the tools and techniques to improve your color reproduction in flexography. Both beginners and experienced users will garner a deeper understanding of how color is reproduced on a flexographic press, plus new skills necessary to apply dot-gain compensation and utilize expanded color gamuts such as Pantone’s Hexachrome system. Lab sessions with Illustrator, Photoshop, ArtPro and other professional applications will educate the participant in preparing files, producing film and making plates for high-quality flexographic printing. Digital Prepress for Flexography is an exciting, fast-paced workshop with an emphasis on label and packaging color reproduction for both beginning and intermediate skill-levels. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants. Your fee includes all materials and one copy of FIRST, 3rd Edition as well as daily lunches, snacks and beverages.

• Digital Color Prepress for Flexography is intended for creative and production professionals who work in design, prepress, quality, customer service and sales positions.

Lead Instructor: Dr. Penny Osmond Penny Osmond is a professor in Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department. Her areas of expertise are in file creation and preparation for successful output, variable data printing, workflow and output issues and packaging prepress. Dr. Osmond has written for several publications on topics including expanded gamut printing, PDF in prepress, and web-based training. She is also an active member of several industry organizations; she earned her Ph. D. in Education from the University of Idaho.
