David Thornburg: Campfire – learning from an expert Watering Hole – learning from peers Cave – learning by introspection Life – learning by doing Furniture should be flexible and adaptable as well as comfortable; all inclusive. Scaffolded seating; multifunctional. Small group versus large group. Writeable walls, design labs, active learning spaces, videos, green screen, audio recording studio, tutorials, (model at universities is changing). Areas to display projects/work. Spaces for quiet reflection and thinking too. Encourage culture of curiosity and risk taking; Learning is founded in inquiry (International Baccalaureate theme). Other Items: Statement entry for International Baccalaureate program – Architect’s concept was presented (see attachment). Entry was well received by Facilities, administration and staff. 09/23/15 Classrooms need ample storage – budget needs to be reviewed by BVSD Facilities and direction provided to Architect. Guita Carroll presented BVSD sustainable goals during design and construction. Architect indicated there will be major renovation of classroom ceilings due to installation of new air conditioning system. Staff desires “no surprises”; wants a plan for moving in place early. Architect presented finish materials list and board which was well received by Facilities, administration and staff. 09/23/15 Architect presented SD/DD drawings and Narrative/Cut Sheets Scope to BVSD Facilities for review and comment.
