Produce from past year included 75 bushels of indian corn and 20 bushels of sweet potatoes. Note- It is apparent that with the vast holdings, W.T. Acree was running 2 separate farmsteads. According to records located in Washington, D.C. William T. Acree and son John W. were captured at their home in Covington County, AL by Union soldiers during the Civil War and imprisoned at Fort Massachusetts on Ship Island, MS in 1865. In 1864 William T. It will be remembered that while living in Florala a couple of years ago this man had the sad misfortune to lose three little children by death from fever that was an epidemic at that time.
