VISION

Our Commitment To Oral Health There are numerous reasons why it is important to practice good oral hygiene. Having a beautiful smile and strong, healthy teeth and gums are obvious reasons. However, studies have also shown a correlation between oral health and overall health.

Poor oral health care can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. In fact, nearly 80 percent of Americans have some form of periodontal disease. Healthy gums play an important role in keeping harmful bacteria that is found in the mouth from entering the blood stream.1

Proper oral care, including routine dental exams, is an important part of overall healthcare. In addition to keeping the mouth healthy, dentists can spot symptoms of some illnesses in the mouth during routine dental exams. Illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and cancer often cause signs and symptoms to appear first in the mouth.2

At Shenandoah Life we realize the importance of dental insurance to help offset the costs of effective dental care. That’s why we’ve been providing it for decades. We offer a variety of unique dental plans to fit the needs of employers of all sizes. And our friendly staff is committed to accurate and speedy processing of claims and requests.

Quality coverage, flexible plans, and fast, friendly customer service – that is protection that will keep everyone smiling.

Valued Employee Benefit Providing protection for your employees against oral health problems can result in a healthier, more productive work force. Dental insurance is repeatedly cited as one of the most requested employee benefits.3 Group dental insurance is an affordable employee benefit that will enhance your employee benefit package to help you attract and retain employees. Good dental plans will offer flexibility in plan design and a variety of payment options ranging from employer paid to completely voluntary plans using employee dollars. Group dental plans can also be part of pre-tax cafeteria plan offerings.

Why Shenandoah Life? An Experienced Carrier Shenandoah Life has been serving clients for nearly 90 years. As a mutual company, we are owned by our policyholders and serving their needs is our primary objective. Entering the group insurance business in 1924, we possess a welldeveloped understanding of group insurance needs for businesses of all sizes and offer competitive products and exceptional support to our customers. We recognize the importance of dental coverage that employees seek and we offer flexible plans to suit. Freedom of Choice Shenandoah Life strives to offer the best value to each of our customers, so plan designs and network options vary by region. In some areas traditional indemnity plans provide the best value to our customers. In other areas we partner with DenteMax® to provide members with a choice of over 78,000 dental provider access points across the country. Each family member can select his or her own dentist, and members are free to change dentists at any time. Members in areas with network access benefit from lower out-of-pocket costs when dental services are delivered by a participating provider, but retain flexibility to seek services from any provider they choose. Customer Service At Shenandoah Life, we pride ourselves on courteous and professional customer service. Every employee at Shenandoah Life is committed to our corporate values of integrity, customer focus, performance, interdependence, and initiative – and you'll see this first-hand when you contact us. Electronic Services & Virtual Support Even though we focus on personal contact, we offer you high-tech access to the information you need, when you need it. Our Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system can be accessed by Group Policyholders who need information about their policies, by claimants checking on the status of their claims, and by providers to verify their patients' eligibility and benefits. Access to our IVR is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Group Policyholders can sign up for our secure Internet access to view group and employee level information, and to make changes online. Enrollment Support Communicating employee benefits can be challenging. Educating employees about their plan details when they are making the purchase decision is a primary concern of many employers. Shenandoah Life has a full line of enrollment tools to communicate your dental program to your employees. Written in terms that many employees will understand, the tools will educate and inform the employees about the value of oral health, the details of the plan and how to enroll. Our portfolio of support items includes announcement letters, payroll stuffers, customized presentations, benefit summaries and more. Claims A balanced investment in our people and technology has resulted in a claim process that pays claims accurately, efficiently and promptly. Our people are here to assist you and to manage complex claims. Our technology enables us to systematically process claims on a daily basis. On average, dental claims are processed and paid in less than five days.
