BREAKOUT SESSIONS I Diversity – The World is Ever-Changing with Jackie Napalan (CA) The world in which we live and work puts us in direct contact with more people of different backgrounds than ever before. That means the extent to which we both understand and appreciate difference is directly correlated with our likelihood of success. This provocative session is about both looking within ourselves and at factors surrounding us to build an appreciative, inclusive, and dynamic sense of all human beings. Participants will:  Enhance awareness of the natural differences that exist around us (race, religion, etc.)  Develop an appreciation for building skills to create a more inclusive environment  Appreciate the historical and current diversity within Delta Sigma Pi The Secrets to Fraternity Recruitment with Mike Ayalon (CO) Are we doing the same recruiting events year after year with little to no results? Is the Senior VP/ recruitment chair doing all of the work in your chapter? Do you have a ton of members graduating this year with no help in sight? Are you only finding members that want to have social events, but contribute very little to our philanthropy, community service, fundraising, and scholarship initiatives? It’s time to completely reshape our thinking when it comes to Fraternity recruitment. Almost all of the chapter’s problems can be corrected with effective recruitment of the right men and women on campus. You can fix poor chapter GPA, low participation in community service/philanthropy events, and correct chapter budget issues with more high quality members. We’ll take a close look at the values of Delta Sigma Pi and the specific goals of your chapter to help you construct a real recruitment plan and achieve all of your recruitment goals. We’ll also address some of the objections that your chapter is hearing, and help you achieve a higher ratio of accepted invitations to join. Be ready to challenge everything that you’ve ever learned about recruitment to achieve better results. Chapter Officer Forum with Dan Collins (FO) This session is for current chapter officers and brothers interested in becoming chapter officers. Join us for an open forum and interactive discussion on:  Roles & responsibilities  Best practices for success  Overall tips & insights Professionalism & Business Etiquette – Entering the Real World with Enterprise (PD) “Professional” is not a label you give yourself, it’s a description you hope others will apply to you. This workshop will share with you the things that can help you be seen by your managers and your peers as a true business professional. We will discuss the importance of first impressions, business etiquette with cell phones, emails, verbal and written communication, and how you dress can impact the image that others have of you in the workplace. Volunteer Leadership in  with Jason Ewing (VL) You will become aware of different opportunities that exist for volunteering and leadership roles in Delta Sigma Pi. You will also learn how to get involved as a volunteer leader and what is expected of volunteer leaders in Delta Sigma Pi. Participants will:  Learn what benefits the VOLUNTEER will gain from the volunteer/leadership position  Learn what benefits the Fraternity will gain from the volunteer  Learn what volunteer leadership opportunities exist within Delta Sigma Pi  Learn about the Certified Deltasig Leader program, and how you can become certified

9:45 a.m – 10:35 a.m.

REAKOUT SESSIONS II Engaging Chapter Advisors and other Faculty with MaryAnn Monforte (CA) Join us in an interactive discussion on best practices to engaging and developing relationships with your Chapter Advisor and other Faculty members. Strategies for Managerial Excellence with Mike Ayalon (CO) Were you thrown into a position with little training or knowledge? One of the biggest problems we face is that we are constantly reinventing the wheel, and we are repeating the same mistakes we made in the past because of a lack of officer transition and training in your organization. All of our effective recruitment techniques, fundraising programs, scholarship initiatives, risk management procedures, and other organizational memory is lost when people leave and you may not effectively be teaching their replacements. We will learn how to identify and train future leaders, ensure successful officer and job transition, and properly set new goals for the upcoming year. We’ll demonstrate what effective committee structure looks like and why that’s important. We’ll review effective meeting and communication techniques, and underscore the importance of organizational financial responsibilities. Finally, we’ll examine the role of frequent and honest communication with your all of your stakeholders. Individual Discipline Policy and Trials with Dale Clark (FO) This session is an open forum discussion for chapter officers on the Individual Discipline Policy best practices and managing chapter trials. Investing in Your Future with OneMain Financial (PD) Do you know how your credit decisions today will impact your future? Think about it, your financial health and awareness impacts every aspect of your life - for life. Student loans, credit cards, personal loans, car loans - all of these debts put you at a disadvantage when you graduate and try to enter the job market. Can you afford to live on your own when you finish school? Will you be able to take the job of your dreams, or will your career be limited by finances and location? What impact will your debt have on your credit score? The financial decisions you make today will follow you long after you graduate. Take this opportunity to enhance your financial literacy by participating in a session presented by Deltasig career partner OneMain Financial, a leading personal finance company providing loan products to customers nationwide. Alumni Forum – Retention and Engagement of Our Alumni with Kathryn Proper (VL) Retention and engagement of our alumni brothers (of all ages) is vital to the success of the Fraternity. During the 2016 LEAD Provincial Conferences, alumni engaged in meaningful dialogue regarding alumni retention and involvement and the National Alumni Development Committee analyzed the responses and found three main themes. During the 2016 LEAD Schools and 2017 LEAD Provincial Conferences, session attendees will receive copies of this analysis and continue those discussions in order to work toward plans of action and propose solutions to increase the retention and involvement of our alumni.

10:50 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS III Red Flags of Interviewing with Mary Miracle (CA) Red Flags are easy to see in a parade. They are not as easy to see when you are interviewing for a position, or even once you are working. What are the red flags? How do you tell when a red flag is waving in front of you? What questions do you need to ask to avoid the red flags? What can you do to avoid the flags? Join this session to answer these questions and more! Risk Reduction within the Greek Community with Mike Ayalon (CO) Our goal should be to keep our members and guests safe at all times. We'll look at why It’s important to achieve, communicate, and expect our organization’s values at all times, and how values based recruitment can help us in harm reduction. We'll also look at images of Greek life from an outsider's perspective on social media and satire websites. Harm reduction covers sexual assaults, drugs, hazing, alcohol, social events, and fighting. We will review the legal issues that can affect you in the form of civil and criminal cases, and we will define all possible outcomes in either scenario. Finally, we will go over the effects of alcohol at various blood alcohol levels, the differences between males and females as it relates to to BAL, and how to recognize the symptoms of alcohol poisoning. We will show you effective crisis management and communication strategies, and insurance details that you should be aware of within your organization.

Ritual – Now and the Future (Members Only) with Sparky Graves and Tricia Smith (CO) Delta Sigma Pi’s Ritual should be taken seriously. It is a time when members reaffirm their commitment to the Fraternity, and with Initiation, it is a time for new brothers to learn more about the organization and history. This session will take you on a journey of our Ritual today, as well as a discussion of proposed changes to our Ritual that are being proposed for the future. Officer Transition & Goal Setting with Dan DelPiano (FO) The key to continued momentum from year to year in any organization is a successful officer transition.
