Create a New Lesson When you open Notebook 11 a new file will automatically be created for you. If you want to open a lesson that has already been created, click on the Open File button located in the toolbar and navigate to the file location. Make sure to save your work often by clicking on the Save button, which is also located in the toolbar.

Add/Delete Pages The Add and Delete buttons will allow you to create/delete pages within your lesson.

Navigate Between Pages 1. Select the Pages tab. 2. Then select the page you would like to go to.

Or 1. Click on the navigation arrows to go back and forth between pages.

Pen Tools To find the list of pen tools that you can use, select the Pen Tool and then select the Pen Types drop down menu.

Here you will see a list of the pen tools you can choose from: o o o o o o o

Pen: This is the default pen tool that will allow you to make a variety of lines Calligraphic Pen: Will allow you to create calligraphic marks Crayon: Will allow you to draw with crayon Highlighter: Will allow you to highlight Creative Pen: Has a variety of line types that can also be used as stamps Magic Pen: If drawn as a line it will disappear after a few seconds. If drawn as a circle it will create a spotlight. If drawn as a square it will magnify the selection Shape Recognition Pen: Will recognize shapes drawn and adjust lines in squares, circles, and triangles

Erase/Delete Objects To erase pen marks on the board, simply pick up the eraser from the SMART Board Tray and use it as an eraser on the board or use the Eraser Tool and choose the size of the eraser you want to use.

To delete an object on the board, which includes anything on the board that is not a pen mark. Select it using the Select Tool and click on the object, or click and drag over the whole object. Then select the Delete Tool.

Add Shapes 1) Select the Shapes Tool

2) Then select the shape you would like to add. 3) You can select the drop down menu to find more shapes. 4) Once you have the shape selected, choose the fill and line colors by clicking on the Color drop down menu. 5) To change the thickness of the line or the line style, select the Line Style drop down menu. 6) To change the transparency of the shape, select the Transparency drop down menu.

7) Then click and drag from one point to another on the page to add your shape. The further you drag, the bigger your shape will be.

Add Lines 1) Select the Lines Tool.

Then select the type of line you would like to add. Once you have the line selected, choose the line color by selecting the Color drop down menu. Change the line style and thickness by selecting the Line Style drop down menu. Change the transparency of the object by selecting the Transparency drop down menu.

6) Then click and drag from one point to another on the page to draw your line.

Add Text 1) Select the Text Tool.

2) Customize your font and change the color and transparency using the options to the right of the tools. 3) Then click and drag to create a textbox on the page. 4) You can then type by using the computer or the keyboard tool which you can access on the SMART Board tray.

Add a Table 1) Select the Table Tool.

Choose the amount of rows and columns that you want in your table. A table will then appear on your page. Using the Select Tool, double click in the cells to type in them. Use the Paint Bucket Tool to add color to the cells.

6) To merge cells, click and drag to highlight the cells you want to merge, right click on those cells and choose Merge Cells.
