AMX4 - Performing PM to OEM Specifications This course will teach the service engineer the specific adjustments, tests, and tolerances, that are covered during a PM performed to OEM specifications. We will review the cleaning, physical inspection, mechanical maintenance, electrical checks, and HHS testing procedures, and component replacement schedules required during a PM. We will not only review the PM procedures themselves, but also cover: How the test/checks are performed What tools and test equipment are required to perform system tests/checks What are the corrective actions when the tests fail (component replacement, calibration, etc...)

AEM - Evidence of Safety and Effectiveness With all the external emphasis on cost containment, patient satisfaction scores, and healthcare quality indicators, it is hard to find any kind of balance with implementing service strategies to stay compliant with the regulations and still hit all of those targets. When challenged to do things differently, how should the decision be made about whether any service is adequate and appropriate? This session will discuss some general guidelines for conducting an overall program performance assessment and suggest ways to use that information to implement a program that you can still have confidence in.
Presented by: Karen Waninger Director of Clinical Engineering for Community Health Network in Indianapolis. She has presented educational sessions at numerous regional and national conferences, is a contributing writer for TechNation magazine, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the AAMI Technology Management Council.
Remote Data Service for Ventilation and Anesthesia Medical devices from the Draeger Infinity Acute Care System (e.g. Evita Infinity V500, Perseus A500) can be configured for use of Remote Services.
Remote Services utilize the Draeger Service Connect Gateway (SCG) to faciliate transporting service logs from a medical device to be analyzed. These analysis reports are then available thru Draeger‘s Service Connect Portal for viewing. Using the SCG with medical devices cuts down on the time it takes to collect the logs from medical devices. Capturing logs with a USB device is no longer necessary.

Power Filtration and its Impact on X-ray and Magnet Based Medical Imaging and Therapy Systems Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, the attendee should understand: 1. The basic concepts of voltage sinewave quality and how sinewave quality anomalies can adversely impact equipment operation. 2. How voltage sinewave quality is monitored and the results interpreted. 3. Learn the common symptoms of sinewave quality problems. 4. Understand the different solutions approaches available.. 5. Understand the concept that in Power Quality there is no “one size fits all” approach. You must select the best solution for the specific problem. Session Description: The session content is divided into four sections:
1. The Voltage Sine Wave? 2. Define the various voltage sinewave anomalies including typical symptoms and causes: 3. Discuss how monitoring data is captured and interpreted in order to help determine an appropriate solution. 4. Introduce the various available solutions categories: Questions and Answers

First Call Troubleshooting for Imaging
First call troubleshooting is as much an art form as it is a skill. In this presentation we will discuss the methods and thought processes associated with effective initial troubleshooting of medical imaging systems. Triaging system failures and determining where to focus your next steps quickly puts service providers in a position to allocate the right resources to correct the problem and return the system to service as soon as possible.

Two Classes presented by Pat Lynch on Saturday Building Credibility for the HTM Department Biomeds and HTM leaders are frequently heard voicing that they don’t receive any respect. While this isn’t entirely universal, it is close enough that the problem seems to be far more widespread than just a few ineffective managers who are bellyaching. I believe that there is a real cultural divide between who we are in Biomed and who the strategic leaders of our hospitals are. This divide causes us to be stuck on one side, unable to cross, in all be a few rare instances. In this talk, we’ll explore the characteristics of hospital leadership, and HTM / Biomed staff. We’ll look at the strengths we bring to the table, and how we can leverage those strengths to enhance our value to hospital leadership in ways that makes them see us as contributors and problem solvers in THEIR world.
FDA Updates
What’s going on with the FDA? They asked for input back in March, April and May. But what have they done with it since then? And what are they likely to do with it in the future? Are they going to make my life, as a BMET, easier, or harder? Is the cost to my hospital going up? Or down? Am I going to have to work harder to assure that the parts, work, and equipment coming into my facility are safe and reliable? Am I going to have to create new policies or procedure to comply with new rules that I don’t even know about yet? How do I find time to do all of these new things, while trying to keep up with the backlog of repairs and PMs that I can’t seem to catch up with? Are there some quick and easy ways to comply that won’t cost me a lot of time or money, either up front, or every month as we go forward? Come and hear as Pat Lynch collects the very latest information available, translates it into plain ole English (as opposed to FDA/government-speak), and tells you what you need to do to make everyone happy (including yourself, your boss, and your family).
Patrick Lynch CHTM, CBET, CCE, MBA, CHTS-PW, CPHIMS Pat is a regular contributor to 24x7 Magazine, BI&T, TechNation listserv, and Biomedtalk listserv. He recently started Biomeds Without Borders to support Biomeds in other countries (www.BiomedsWithoutBorders.com )
Minimizing Transducer Failure Through Proper Care and Early Detection Preventing transducer failure is incredibly important as faulty probes can compromise patient safety by impacting image quality and potentially putting patients at risk for infection. The key to preventing transducer failure is implementing proper care methods and
ensuring that everyone who handles the transducer is able to identify early warning signs. In this session, Kyle will break down a transducer so he can explain the function of each part and where failures typically occur. He will bring real-life examples of transducers in various conditions so participants can see what a damaged probe looks like, making it easier for them to identify the problem on their own. He will then demonstrate techniques for detecting common problems, such as how to detect interior probe damage by examining the exterior. Kyle will also review proper care methods and techniques to help alleviate unnecessary problems.
Attendees will learn:
1. The function of various lenses and arrays

Asset Management for Biomedical Equipment Service "Asset Management is a widely used term for a variety of technologies used to help companies acquire, deploy, control, track, and service assets of all kinds. One of the most poorly served areas of asset management has been related to equipment service and repair initiatives.. Until now. Quality Medical has developed an online portal called Q-Connect to help hospitals, HME / DME, LTAC and other users of medical equipment better control their equipment when it is sent to 3rd party vendors for PM and / or repair. No more waiting on hold for companies to give you an RMA number, advise the estimated cost of repairs, or tell you the status of your equipment. With Q-Connect, simply log-on to your account to give you compete visibility and control over all equipment sent for PM or service. And then we take it one step further. We will manage your complete inventory for a single flat monthly fee, giving you predictable cash outlays every month rather than a month-end surprise of thousands of dollars in PM Presented by: and repair bills.
