UVODNIK / EDITORIAL

U 2016. godini, Me|unarodni aerodrom Sarajevo obilje`io je zna~ajan jubilej, 20 godina poslijeratnog otvaranja. U godini iza nas ''potukli'' smo i još jedan vlastiti rekord, ispratili smo 800.000 putnika, što je više nego ikada do sada opslu`enih putnika u jednoj godini, a uveliko radimo na realizaciji ambicioznih razvojnih projekata, koji }e omogu}iti stalno rušenje tih rekorda. Ovakav rast prometa zahtijeva i ve}e kapacitete, a posebno uzimaju}i u obzir da je kapacitet postoje}e terminalne zgrade milion putnika godišnje. Stoga, Me|unarodni aerodrom Sarajevo planira zapo~eti zna~ajan investicioni zamah ve} idu}e godine.

Dear Readers, The Sarajevo International Airport, for most tourists coming from outside the region, is the first encounter when visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina and the first impression of our country. For us, therefore, lies a special responsibility for that first image to be not only positive, but impressive and this task we achieve successfully. When they departure, we do all necessary so their happy memories that they carry out of our beautiful country are further confirmed, with the aim to visit us again. That special commitment to work has been recognized by many so that this airport has become one of the busiest harbors for many tourists, business partners and nearly a million yearly passengers from around the world. In 2016, Sarajevo International Airport marked an important anniversary, 20 years of post-war opening. In the year behind us we have '' fought '' another own record, we welcomed our 800,000 passenger, which is more than ever of serviced passengers in a single year. Largely we have been working on the realization of ambitious development projects, which will allow the continuous improvement of these records . This growth in traffic requires more capacity, especially taking into account that the capacity of the existing terminal building is one million passengers per year. Therefore, Sarajevo International Airport plans to start a significant investment momentum next year. Considerable efforts were done in attracting new airlines, and in early 2017 we expect some of them to be present in regular air transport. In the year behind us, in the context of the aforementioned investment momentum, intensive efforts were made to the preparatory activities (redefining investment priorities from additional comprehensive analysis, project development, obtaining appropriate approvals ecc..) Among the most demanding projects can be sorted out the reconstruction / rehabilitation of the runway, extending of the platform for aircraft parking, construction of business and administrative buildings, the construction of an exclusive VIP lounge etc. In the hope that the coming year will be the best so far, I can only heartily wish a Happy 2017!

JUBILEJI / JUBILEES

Uposlenici Aerodroma, svjedoci njegovog razvoja protekle dvije decenije Employees of the Airport, witnessed its development over the past two decades

SAM

Tog dana bilo je i mnogo lijepih iznena|enja za putnike That day there were a lot of surprises for the travelers

Sarajevo in the period between 1996 2016. It was a period of rebirth of Sarajevo Airport and this documentary is symbolically called "Reborn". Immediately after the war, it was very important to establish a civilian air traffic between B&H and the neighboring countries. It had to be restarted, restored, and equiped all over again. Of course, all this could not have been done without people, experts, enthusiasts and patriots who worked devotedly to the creation of minimum conditions for the launch of the company. We are proud to say that, from the civil aviation point of view, the airport Sarajevo is high in the rankings and on par with many European and world airports, said the author Sulejmanovic.

New successes

These topics were also pointed out in the speech approached by Mr. Armin Kajmakovic, the director of the Airport and its longtime employee, who for himself participated in the reconstruction and the ceremonial opening in the post-war year 1996. - It was a rocky road and a lot of work accepted by the employees at that time and that seemed anything but real and possible. However, by the immense effort, work and dedication, their almost unrealistic idea was transformed into reality and the reconstructed airport was ready for the first passenger and flights. That was the culmination of that effort. Croatia Airlines obilje`ila dva va`na jubileja: 20 godina kontinuiranog letenja na liniji Zagreb-Sarajevo i saradnje sa Sarajevskim aerodromom ovodom 20 godina kontiuiranog letenja na liniji Zagreb-Sarajevo i isto toliko godina uspješne poslovne saradnje s Me|unarodnim aerodromom Sarajevo, hrvatska nacionalna aviokompanija Croatia Airlines uprili~ila je sve~anost na Sarajevskom aerodromu. Zvanicama, me|u kojima su bili visoki predstavnik u BiH Valentin Inzko, hrvatski ambasador u BiH Ivan del Vechio, te predstavnicima medija iz Hrvatske i naše zemlje obratili su se Krešimir Ku~ko, predsjednik Uprave Croatia Airlinesa, i Armin Kajmakovi}, direktor Me|unarodnog aerodroma Sarajevo.

INTERVJU / INTERVIEW

We are proud of the results of the Sarajevo airport Ismir Jusko was appointed as Minister of Transport and Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina 11th. May 2016. For the Sarajevo Airport Magazine, we talked with him about the airport now and then, the expansion of capacity, the development of air traffic, the control of the domestic airspace, the famous Sarajevo fog because of which flights are always canceled ...

SAM: This year marks the 20th. anniversary of the reopening of the Sarajevo airport. You had a chance to see the airport in 1996. Can you recall some pictures from that period? JUSKO: After four years of war, the Sarajevo Airport looked depressed and gloomy, his surroundings and itself were filled with war scars. Today it is a place full of life. The Airport rose from the ashes and we can all together be proud of the results that it achieved in the transport of passengers and providing services to a number of international airlines.

SAM: Within the Framework Strategy of Transport in B&H 2016-2030 it is planned to expand the existing terminal and access roads. How will the Airport be upon that? JUSKO: The Framework Transport Strategy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the action plans for its implementation were adopted at the 64th. session of the Council of Ministers of B&H. The Government of the FB&H adopted the Proposal of the Transport Strategy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2016 2030. The Government of the Republic of Srpska adopted a draft of the Transport Strategy of the Republic of Srpska for the period 2016 - 2030. The Government of Brcko District of B&H adopted a Conclusion on the adoption of the Draft of the Framework Transport Strategy of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2016 - 2030. All international airports in B&H are important for us and we expect that they expand the capacity and scope of operations. To my knowledge, Sarajevo International Airport is planning to expand the existing terminal and access roads, because every year there is an evident increase in the number of passengers and flights. Existing terminals and the runway of 2,600 meters

length and of 45 meters width allow the maximum annual capacity of 800,000 passengers, which is already showing a limiting factor for the development of the airport. As I have been informed by the management of the Airport, the planned investments, expansion of the existing terminal and access to the airport, were estimated at 40 million euros. Also, they informed me that the road

airports it increases the number of passengers, which requires a larger spatial capacity of all its services and service overall. In 2015, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of transported passengers was 1,130,023. In that number, the Sarajevo Airport is participating in 68 percent, 23 percent Tuzla, Mostar seven percent and two percent Banja Luka. Tuzla airport, for example, in 2015

All international airports in B&H are important for us and we expect from them to expand the capacity and scope of operations

access to the airport was assessed as good. SAM: When can we expect the start of the construction works? JUSKO: To my knowledge, certain works at the Sarajevo International Airport, when it comes to upgrading capacity, should begin as early as next year. dini za 373,4 posto u odnosu na godinu ranije. Ovi podaci ~ine potrebu razvoja usluga i infrastrukture aviosaobra}aja neophodnim. Planirane aktivnosti prepoznate su i u pomenutim strateškim dokumentima u Bosni i Hercegovini. SAM: Jedan od ciljeva Prometne strategije je poboljšanje kvaliteta usluge putni~kog zra~nog prometa. Šta mo`emo o~ekivati u tom smislu tokom 2017. godine? JUSKO: Proces edukacije, odnosno nabava usluga stru~-

Planned activities have been identified as well as in the aforementioned strategic documents in Bosnia and Herzegovina. SAM: One of the objectives of the Transport Strategy is to improve the quality of services of passenger in air traffic. What can we expect in this regard during 2017? JUSKO: In terms of the infrastructure, it is, as mentioned, the capacity expansion of the Sarajevo airport: restructuring of infrastructure, expansion of terminal capacity and improving the accessibility of roads, improvement of ICT perspective in parallel with the development of infrastructure. Next, we plan to expand the capacity of Mostar Airport, and develop the airport Banja Luka and Tuzla. The biggest challenge is securing sources of funding for infrastructure projects and technical improvement of airports. SAM: In July 2016, you pointed out that 67 people will attend training for air traffic controllers „so that Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the next two years, takes over the control of the sky over 10,000 meters and thus earns millions". Is the training process in progress? JUSKO: The process of training, and procurement of services of professional training of staff required for the implementation of Phase II of acquisition, management and control of air traffic in the airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina shall be carried out in accordance with the Law on Public Procurement of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Council of Ministers has approved the decision to initiate the vocational training of staff required for the implementation of Phase II acquisition, management and control of air traffic in the airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Agency for the provision of air navigation services in Bosnia and Herzegovina carries out the procedure of the public procurement, which is still ongoing. The choice of the school center for conducting the training of personnel is expected by the end of 2016 or at the latest beginning of 2017. It will be known after the completion of the procurement of services of professional staff training. SAM: What kind of training is it? Where will future air traffic controllers be deployed, in which of the airports? JUSKO: It is a comprehensive training of candidates for the approachable and airport air traffic controllers and flight controllers. Upon completion of the training, the candidates will be arranged in units of access and airport air traffic controls in locations in Mostar, Tuzla, Sarajevo and Banja Luka, and the Area Control Centre in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, in accordance with the completion of the training, all in order to meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency of service delivery in the airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Connecting with the world SAM: Is there a plan to attract more air operators in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is there the need for it? JUSKO: We have announcements for the establishment of new air lines from operators, and some of their plans and wishes are transferred to us by diplomats that come from the countries of interested airlines. At this time, in addition to existing destinations, the direct connection with Budapest and Doha and other destinations for which operators expressed interest have already been announced. The procedures are implemented by the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so that Sarajevo and other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina are as better connected with the world.

BHDCA has issued a set of regulations in the field of civil aviation that puts the B&H legislation into line with EU legislation. The total number of transposed legislation is 41, which represents 80 percent of the total number of regulations that need to be implemented. SAM: With the arrival of winter the Sarajevo International Airport is facing its biggest problem - thick fog, because of which flights are often canceled. Can this problem be solved and in what way? JUSKO: The Sarajevo airport is very demanding by itself, but when you add the element of fog to it, it further complicates the situation. The Sarajevo Airport has adopted a plan to work on this issue, on which , as I have been informed, intensive activities are implemented. I believe that through the expansion of the capacity of other airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina we could create a high-quality mutual cooperation in the sense that at the time of fog and difficult landing at the Sarajevo airport, the flights are diverted to airports in Tuzla, Mostar and Banja Luka SAM: What is your biggest challenge when it comes to air traffic? JUSKO: The biggest challenge is to take complete control of the B&H airspace from Croatia and Serbia. There is also the further harmonization of national legislation with EU standards. When it comes to regulation, in particular, we must review the toll model and continue with the realization of the strategic goals. Of course, we expect to intensify in the coming period the works on the expansion of the existing airport terminal and the construction of a new and as well as the extension of the landing runway where it is also necessary to modernize the access roads.

SAM: S kakvim emocijama i u kakvim okolnostima ste stvarali „Damar“?

SAM: I do|u li? MEDUNJANIN: Da, naravno

SAM: In interviews you said that you spent a lot of time investigating each of the songs, you have been searching for their heroes, events ... Where did those investigations lead you, have you come across some interesting discoveries? MEDUNJANIN: Every song is a world of its own. At my concerts, when announcing each song, I try to evoke to the audience the ambience and the time in which the song was created and, if I know, I tell something about actors who are mentioned in the lyrics. Recently, after a show, I had the opportunity to meet a woman who remembers her grandparents who were celebrated in one of my songs. I think that her album "Zumra" has its value as an experiment, because it is completely minimalisticly recorded - only with vocals and harmonica. t does not matter what language those who are listening to her music speak, it is important to note the silence when Amira lets her voice flow and starts singing traditional songs. The British, Swedish, Dutch, Turkish, Swiss, Taiwan, Norway and other concert halls around the world may not understand the lyrics of her songs, but the emotions surely. Love, sorrow, pain, longing, joy, excitement, hope... The audience takes them in perfectly, so spreading her excellent and rare talent. E, to je Sarajevo. Wikipedia about Sevdalinka Sevdah is a unique folk music expression in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which boasts a very long and rich tradition. In many cases, "sevdalinka" is simply called "sevdah". At the time of its creation it was exclusively orally performed. The Bosnian sevdah is derived from the Arabic word "Savda", which in Bosnian means "love".

what age did you discover this nightingale, when and why did you decide to give him a chance to impress? MEDUNJANIN: You see, I never gave much thought to become a singer. From childhood I carry the love for songs and certainly I was a difficult child, because I sang all day, my neighbors well remember that, and I believe that it was difficult to listen to a kid constantly

your close family members on your choice of becoming a music interpreter? MEDUNJANIN: At first, they could not understand why I would leave a secure job in a country with an army of unemployed. But they knew, even before me, that I can not exist without music so they were formally amazed. But every parent wants the best for their child and it is quite acceptable.

In life, there are moments where you turn everything upside down and, with this experience, I can say that, only wise man listens to what his heart says. Therefore, if you are looking for a rational explanation, I can not give that ... And so I left everything behind and moved into the world of music.

SAM: In all the places around the world where you perform , you carry a nice part of B&H tradition. What is it you take back home? With what feelings do you land at Sarajevo Airport? MEDUNJANIN: I'm going home full of beautiful impressions from the concerts and beautiful stories of different people. I find it hard to think about all of this, but I can not wait to come to Sarajevo so that all of my memories order. Sometimes, I'm gone for a month and, believe me, I rejoice when I come back home and I can not awaiten the passport control. I make sure to have a coffee in the cafeteria at the Airport entrance always accompanied by a chat with the waiters. All of that feels good, it is a form of therapy after flight nervousness. Now that I mention it, I remembered that I had never asked for the waiters names, even tho I know these people for years. However, they did not ask me what my name is. So that is Sarajevo. And then, after coffee, I go outside and get some well-known air and only then I can go home to rest. 37 SAM

Merima Kljuco: My accordion must have its seat in the plane Today, upon numerous concerts in the concert halls of Europe, USA and Australia, one of the world's most famous soloist on the accordion, Merima Kljuco, remembers with a smile the time when she was a little embarrassed to explain to people that she was studying accordion. She enjoys breaking down prejudices prejudices surrounding this instrument the best way she knows – with good notes bles, she has performed in a number of European, American and Australian concert halls. In November, along with the guitarist Miroslav Tadic she performed at Jazz Fest Sarajevo. The audience enjoyed it very much and so did Merima. - I am delighted that Miroslav and I performed at Jazz Fest. Of course, I could not enjoy the concerts to the extent I usually would since I had to perform. But I was lucky to attend the John Zorn's Bagatelles Marathon! I am very pleased that one of the performers was the extraordinary American cellist Jay Campbell, whom I met at Yellow Barn 2011

where I taught chamber music. Jay was one of the students who caught my attention and today he is one of the world's renowned cellists. SAM: What does the harmonica mean to you? MERIMA: I like to joke arround that my first word ever said was „mommy“ and the second „harmonica“. Although I must say that this is not far from the truth. My perseverance, life decisions and all the sacrifices I have made are related to this instrument. From an early age I knew that it would be my life companion and my eternal inspiration. Sve sami do`ive i shvate tokom koncerta.

Njeno pjevanje }e vas uvijek dr`ati u toj prekrasnoj tradiciji, dok njeni saradnici imaju otvorene ruke za kreiranje druga~ijeg zvuka. instrument. It must have its place, its seat. I could and maybe I might, one day, write a book of anecdotes related to my long flights with the accordion. SAM: I believe that it did not take a long time before you met with prejudice related to this instrument. Do you enjoy fighting against prejudice? MERIMA: I do enjoy it! I remember a time when I was even a little embarrassed to say that I studied the accordion, because people kept asking me questions like: "is it possible to study that?!“. Today I love to destroy stereotypes, and I am particularly pleased when they crash a concert, because then I do not have anything to explain. Everybody experiences and understands this music during the concert. SAM: The accordion is a traditional instrument, at least in our region.

Merima sa predsjednikom SAD -a Barackom Obamom / Merima accompanied by the president of the United States of America Barack Obama

You graduated in contemporary music. How do you reconcile these two music worlds? MERIMA: The accordion is a modern instrument. It is one of the youngest instruments and it did not exist at the time of the great classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven. It went through the same phase other instruments went as well- from traditional to a completely accepted concert instrument.

I noticed that in the past 20 years the maturation process has accelerated and that the accordion is increasingly represented on the concert platform. Many world-famous composers (Sofia Gubaidulina, John Zorn, Luciano Berio a.o.) wrote valuable compositions for accordion and there are more and more composers who are enthusiastic for this instrument. SAM: Where, how and to whom do

On collaboration with Amira Medunjanin MERIMA: Any cooperation is special in its own way, including the cooperation with Amira Medunjanin. Amira is mainly a performer of traditional songs. And because of this, in cooperation with her, one is free to do something completely new. Her singing will always keep you in this beautiful tradition, while her coworkers have a free hand to create a different sound. Amira is very glad about any new notes and her almost childlike enthusiasm was a great inspiration for our album Zumra.

The most beautiful illuminated Haggadah It is not known when exactly the Sarajevo Haggadah, a type of collection of religious regulations and traditions inserted in the prayer line of the marking of Pesah, arrived in Sarajevo, because for 300 years, between the 16th. and 19th. centuries it is not known where it exactly was or came from. However, based on stylistic analysis of the illuminations and miniatures from its pages, it was found that this book is originated from the medieval Spain, in the area of the former Kingdom of Aragon, probau Sarajevo, jer se ~itavih 300 godina izme|u 16. i 19. stolje}a ne zna gdje je ta~no bila. – shoshan) i krilom (hebr.

The richly illuminated Jewish manuscript, after the expulsion of the Sephardic Jews (1492) changed its owner, but the names of the new or old owners are not known and during the 16th. and 17th. century the book was located in the area of northern Italy. The Sarajevo Haggadah, which many consider the most beautiful example of this type of book, appeared when a merchant and a member of Sarajevo's Sephardic family, Joseph Cohen, in 1894 sold it to the National Museum in Sarajevo for 150 krone. Upon that, the book was sent for analysis to Vienna from , Sarajevo, returned after a few years, but it didn t find its lasting peace in the museum collection back then. The first days after the entry of the German military forces in Sarajevo in 1941, their authorities required from Jozo Petrovic, the director of the National Museum, the already well-known Leather Code, to be submitted immediately. The Nazis planned according to Hitler's ideas, to open the Museum of vanished nations in Prague and this Haggadah, one of the finest,

The most beautiful exemplar Haggadah itself (Hebrew: story, saying) is a kind of collection of religious regulations and traditions entered in the prayer line of the marking of the Pesah, the holiday commemorating the liberation of the Jews from slavery in Egypt. These books had a particular importance during the ritual family dinners - Sedera, when all the family members and guests with a book in the hand red or listened the narrating about the liberation and about everything that is ritual in terms of this famous Old Testament story. The tradition of reading texts from the Haggadah within the family contributed to the emergence of a relatively large number of such books, among which the Sarajevo Haggadah for its historical significance, but also artistic value has a leading position.

Although the book was on the shelf behind Petrovics back, he took a huge risk and peacefully wriggled on such a request, by replying that the Haggadah was taken by a German officer, and then with the help of the curator Dervis Korkut he made sure that until the end of the war, the Haggadah was

On the basis of stylistic analysis of the illuminations and miniatures from its pages it was found that this book originated from medieval Spain, in the area of the former Kingdom of Aragon, probably in Barcelona in the second half of the 14th. century - possibly as a wedding gift to the members of the famous family Shoshan and Elzar, because their coat of arms are on the page where the coat of arms of the city of Barcelona is removed to a safer place. Based on anecdotal narration, it was removed to the mosque, in one of the Muslim villages on Mount Bjelasnica, where it awaited the end of the Second World War.

Between two wars The next attempt of alienation occurred in the 50s of the last century, when the workers of the National Museum prevented a theft once again, and then, hopefully, for the last time this valuable manuscript was threatened at the beginning of the siege of Sarajevo in 1992. During the last war, the Haggadah was saved in the vault of the National Bank, after it was saved from the the National Museum who was on the front line of the city, by the then director of the Museum Mr. Enver Imamovic. Before the Pesah in 1995, it was taken out of the vault for the only time and 47 SAM

Invaluable asset The value of the Sarajevo Haggadah was never officially confirmed nor was its evaluation ever done, but in the world community, the figure of 700 million BAM emerged, after having misinterpreted the report by Roger Cohen, a journalist correspondent of New York Times and Pulitzer Prize winner, in which the approximate price of seven million dollars, while respecting the rules of the American grammar, was written as 7.00. In fact, formerly in 1991, the government of Spain prepared an exhibition on the occasion of 500 years of the persecution of the Jews from Spain and on this occasion they wanted to expose the Sarajevo Haggadah in Madrid. Then, the Management Board of the National Museum asked for insurance in the amount of seven million dollars for this event in case something happens.

BA[TINA / INHERITANCE

Since 2002, the National Museum opened a specially secured safe room with the Sarajevo Haggadah centered in the room, for the first time in its rich and turbulent history it is exposed and accessible to a wider cultural public on special occasions and under precisely defined conditions. Due to the sensitivity of the material, the original Haggadah publicly exposes only four times a year. Its tangible value today is invaluable, as its symbolic value for the small Jewish community and the city of Sarajevo. Its historical pathos, confirmed by analysis and researches through short notes on its pages, as well as from traditions following it for decades, make the Haggadah an invaluable source for the study of cultural history of a nation in the centuries-old quest for homeland and witnesses of the openness of a society and environment in B&H, which has always been recognized by people who appreciated books and graciously accepted the messages that it was carrying.

The Sarajevo Haggadah consists of 142 vellum pages, size 16.5 x 22.8 inches, made of elongated and bleached goatling leather. In the first 34 pages there are 69 miniatures that show inspiringly the creation of the world, the Egyptian slavery, the exodus from Egypt under Moses' leadership and so on, until the status of the leader of the Jews was taken over by Joshua, the son of Nun. The last four miniatures are an exception in the sense that they have no direct biblical character. The following 50 pages consist of the text of the Haggadah written on both sides of the square in Hebrew script of medieval Spanish type. The final unit of the book consists of the subsequently entered poetic ritual supplement, which contains several songs of the most famous poets of the Hebrew Literature from its so-called Golden Age (10-13 c.). The Haggadah is special, because it is one of the few evidences that even among Jews, despite the strict prohibition of God's commandments ( "Do not do any carved images nor any images of yourself"), the figural showing of human and animal figures at a very high artistic level existed.

CROCHET, a lace in whose threads is the weaved love of bosnian women Crochet is the traditional techniques of making lace, with the help of sewing needles and thread. In this way objects of decoration and household clothes were made. In addition to the local homes, lace decorated the homes of prominent Viennese families. Like most traditional crafts and skills, this one also started to fall into oblivion. To avoid this, members of the Association "Gracanica's crochet" have made efforts in sustaining this skill and among many they also invented and created the "Flower of Srebrenica" and much, much more. ot so long ago you could not enter a house in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and not find some of the traditional handicrafts of the local women. Women often filled household budgets by producing and selling them. Today, these works, as well as women who know the technique of their preparation are all less. Knitting and crochet work, whereby parts of the country were known, is slowly falling into oblivion.

One of the few associations that are struggling to keep the tradition alive is "Gracanica's crochet" from Gracanica. The local women were wellknown for making kere, fine lace which decorated the edges of handkerchiefs, towels, tablecloths, bed linen, scarfs, collar and other garments.

U svojoj recenziji Doris Pack piše: “Kao predsjednica Evropskog kulturnog komiteta, aplaudiram naporima gosp.

Memories created the War Childhood Museum War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo, based on the book “Childhood in War” was established as a concept of mosaic memories from the war, in order to express the disapproval of flunking out of humanity, but also to be a sort of pillar in the way of war trauma healing in the reconciliation process. nspired by the different stories and testimonies of participants in the project War Childhood and with the desire to set up a Museum and thus permanently preserve war memories, personal objects, photographs, diaries, letters, drawings and other documents, Jasminko Halilovic, author and initiator of the project developed the concept of the Museum of War Childhood. The exciting process of creating a collection of this Museum was officially launched in May 2015, and the longawaited conceived concept of the Museum was opened for visitors in December 2016, in the exhibition area of 230 square meters in Sarajevo- street Logavina. The Museum of children growing up in the war caused great public interest and has seen a significant affirmation in the world media, with reports by BBC, CNN, The Daily Mail, The Economist, Reuters, Avvenire, Publico, Lonely Planet and many others.

Childhood in the Museum Memories of 1,100 young people of growing up in besieged Sarajevo, a city whose siege lasted 1,425 days or the longest in modern history, will remain permanently recorded in the book "War Childhood - Sarajevo 92 to 95 which was a result of engagement of Jasminko Halilovic to collect their answers to the question "What does childhood in the war mean to you?". The process of editing the memories lasted more than two years. Published in 2013, the book summarized various aspects of the war experiences of Sarajevo’s children who looked death in the eye, day after day. After the promotion in Sarajevo, followed the one in Belgrade, in the European Parliament in Brussels, the House of Literature of Graz, the University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska in Lublin (Poland). Meanwhile, the editions in English, German, Polish, Japanese, Spanish and partly in Turkish and French were presented and published.

- nastalih u uslovima sveop}eg razaranja.

For a better world From 6 April 1992 until 31 December 1995, all forms of crimes against humanity and international law against children were carried out in Sarajevo, despite the protection by the rules of international humanitarian law. War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo has been established to raise awareness of adults about their responsibility to create a better world for children. According to the Report of the United Nations on the impact of armed conflict on children, in the burning conflicts in the world, more and more civilians are killed, of which around half of the victims are children under the age of 18 years. In 1996, UNICEF revealed that in the period from 1985 to 1996, two million children were killed in wars, while four to five million were seriously injured or left with disabilities. At the same time, 12 million children have been displaced or homeless, and millions of children have lost their parents or were separated from their parents. War Childhood Museum is much needed in Sarajevo and for the entire world.

logical extension of the project of Mr. Halilovic and it was not directed only to the permanent preservation of memories of childhood during wartime. Besides the function of memories it fulfills a very strong information and communication function to convey a message about the complexity and universality of the experience of growing up in war - the conceptual setting of the Museum helps the understanding of this particular experience, contributing to raising awareness of adults about their responsibility to create a better world for children and for that reasons the setting certainly can be considered successful.

The Museum setting

The book Childhood in War translated into several languages

The War Childhood Museum enables to the voice of all the people who were children or adolescents during the war to be heard – regardless of the geographical area they came from, their ethnic or religious background or level of education. Unlike other war museums, the Museum presents the experience of the most vulnerable groups in the context of modern warfare, which did not have any effect to the start of the war, but suffers multiple consequences. The vision of the Museum of war childhood on an individual level is to help overcome the trauma of displacement, loss of home and family, separation from parents, serious injury, lack of food, education and others damages that occurred in terms of universal destruction. Through hundreds of objects and documents in the collection of the Museum, interesting memories of the war that the survivors kept for more than 20 years after the war, it is possible, at a collective level, to get an understanding as a precondition for reconciliation. The most important collection of the War Childhood Museum is a collection of personal objects which in a contemporary museum perception do not say much. The importance of the setting like ballet shoes obtained in the war, burning books rescued from the City Hall, the tin of “ikar”, the covers of food, dolls, ovens made out of gutters, a swing used when the owner of it was a little girl down in the basement – is based on personal story of its owner. 59 SAM

Friends of the Museum The enthusiasm of the team that implemented the project of the War Childhood Museum, is very much obvious in the creative way they figured out how to collect the rest of the money needed for its opening. On the eve of the opening of the Museum, the team launched a campaign on one of the world's largest platform Indiegogo, offering for the price of $ 16 a lifetime ticket for interested parties. On Indiegogo were also offered the following options: for $ 60 you could get the title of a “Friend of the Museum”, for $ 250 one would become “Partner”, “Sponsor” for $ 1000, and for $ 10,000 one could become a “Patron of the Museum”.

Among the collected documents are personal diaries, notebooks with song texts, clippings, school cards, reports from the hospital and other papers from the hospital, drawings, school newspaper etc. There is a tendency and desire that ten years after
