CORNELIA THÖNI from this division was recently selected to be DMMGF Scholar 2012 (Days of Molecular Medicine Global Foundation, seated in Cambridge, Massachusetts). She received this honor for her work EPCAM – A marker for tuftin enteropathy (TE) and a useful tool in the differential diagnosis of congenital enteropathies. OLIVER SCHMIDT from the group of DAVID TEIS in this division recently received a prestigious longterm fellowship from the EMBO, for his Elucidation of signaling mechanisms that are activated in response to membrane protein accumulation on endosomes and thus help to counteract proteotoxic stress.
Division of Bioinformatics _Zlatko Trajanoski ZLATKO TRAJANOSKI from this division could recently receive a grant from the Jubiläumsfonds of the Medical University of Innsbruck for his work on the elucidation of calcium channels in pancreas beta cells which should improve our understanding of diabetes.

Division of Developmental Immunologiy _Andreas Villunger ELEONORA OTTINA from this division has recently won one of the 2 MCBO awards, for her work on Targeting antiapoptotic A1/Bfl-1 by in vivo RNAi reveals multiple roles in leukocyte development in mice http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22581448 that appeared in the journal Blood L UKAS PEINTNER from this division recently received a Doc Stipendium from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW)
VERENA L ABI from this division was recently awarded the „Preis der Stadt Innsbruck for scientific work at the Universities of Innsbruck“ for her work on The role of apoptosis-inducing proteins Bim and Bmf. Verena is presently at the Harvard University Medical School and was recently also at the MaxDelbrück-Centrum (MDC) für molekulare Medizin in Berlin. These data were recently published in the journal EMBO Molecular Medicine

MICHAEL KNOFLACH, former student in this division and postdoc, who was instrumental in the research project of emer.Prof. GEORG WICK on the „Immunology of Atherosclerosis“, and still is so by acting as a competent link between basic and clinical research activities, was recently promoted Privatdozent for Neurology.
He also received the Science Award of the Austrian Stroke Society.

Division of Molecular Pathophysiology _Reinhard Kofler ELISABETH PFEIFFENBERGER from the group of STEPHAN GELEY in this division has recently received a 6 months-position at the famous Singapore BIOPOLIS Research Center, where she can learn whatever she wants and is even paid for it. Wonderful! And a great honor.
In the September issue of Forum Medizin Uni, addendum of the Tiroler Tageszeitung, an article appeared that described the research activities of CHRISTINE B ANDTLOW’s-led division of Neurobiochemistry.
L UKAS A. H UBER gave in a recent issue of STANDORT, a newspaper of the Tyrolean Standortagentur, a guest comment in which he described among other aspects also the new CCB http://www.standort-tirol.at/page.cfm?vpath=index building.
