Why supported living elsewhere? • 85 % of the people with dementia can cope with dementia in their own home, with the support of day care, relatives and friends. • 15% of the people with dementia can not cope in their own home. They need professional support 24/7.

What’s in a name? • Hogewey- an old Dutch name of a part of Weesp where the traditional nursing home was situated • Wijk- the Dutch word for neighbourhood, spelled in old Dutch: weyk

All employees and all volunteers know how to support a person with dementia in experiencing daily life.
• De Hogeweyk is accessible for everybody, the façades are the safe guard to the “unsafe” world outside.
The exterior and the interior design support the person to understand where he is and what is expected of him.
