DRAFT CAMPUS PLAN

Campus has natural beauty (serene, peaceful); Sequence of arrival, parking, walking into classes works well; People feel and are secure (perception and reality); Walking distances are okay; need more handicapped parking; Students need break-out areas, inside and outside; Student Union, central to the campus is needed; Building architecture is too “passive” (like a post office); Buildings do not “read” as to their function; New buildings provide opportunity to break the existing pattern of architecture; Need to bring the neighboring community into CVC; CVC is seen as a “stealth” campus. CVC’s philosophy is one of developing students by providing learning experiences that foster a climate of achievement and success in the college environment. CVC will have a strong emphasis on the State’s “Closing the Gaps” initiative. A community of learners approach will be used connecting students to academic and support services based upon individual needs. Services to support student success will be delivered utilizing both “high human touch” and “high technology” methods. CVC will continue to aggressively seek funding opportunities to assist in providing financial aid, scholarships, and sponsorships.
