In addition, we have teamed up with the World Veterinary Association to provide a selection of online CPD presentations and seminars from our team of Specialists, clinicians and nurses. Delegates will be given an overview of fractures that affect the cats’ femur and the options for stabilising them. A mix of lectures and practical sessions aimed at those wanting to build further on their ultrasound skills. Following the overwhelming response to this course in 2015, we’re pleased to announce it’s back for 2016! A mix of lectures and practical sessions explaining what spare capacity exists in the respiratory, hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal systems and how that determines what can and what cannot be reasonably resected during surgery.

Vomiting is a common presentation in small animal practice,but can mislead the unwary. Firstly is the animal truly vomiting, and secondly is the vomiting due to primary GI disease or secondary to disease elsewhere? This course will cover the rational diagnosis and symptomatic treatment of vomiting dogs and cats.

£800 Principles of abdominal surgery Fri 7th - Sat 8th October

Abdominal surgery is commonly performed in small animal practice, particularly in the form of routine neutering and the exploratory laparotomy. However, abdominal surgery may not always be straightforward. This is two-day course, with the first day consisting of lectures covering the fundamentals of abdominal surgery. This will include exploratory laparotomy, gastrointestinal surgery, the difficult bitch spay, caesarean section, cystotomy, GDV, haemoabdomen and septic peritonitis. The lectures will detail practical tips and tricks for maximising success. The second day is a wet lab with cadavers. This will allow the delegates to put into practice everything that has been covered in the lectures.The course would be most suitable for relatively new graduates, people returning to practice after a career break or practitioners who feel under confident with abdominal surgery. In general practice vets are frequently presented with dogs experiencing chronic pain which are not well managed with readily available veterinary marketed analgesics. Using case based examples we will present how to create a tailored multimodal analgesic plan, including both veterinary licensed drugs and drugs licensed for use in humans. The evening will also touch on dietary optimisation and weight management, and complementary acupuncture, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. This session will provide an overview of what CG is and its relevance within practice. It will explain in detail the seven pillars that make up the CG model and provide ideas on how to implement them within your practice. It will cover the other key elements of CG such as implementation of evidence-based practice, significant event reporting and clinical audit.
