Dare2Create: Art & Film What is Dare2Create? Dare to Create 2014 is the first annual system-wide celebration of dance, drama, media arts and visual arts in the TDSB. The festival will take place between May 12 and June 9, 2014 in schools, communities, galleries, and performing arts venues around the city of Toronto. Students, teachers, and artists will come together as a community to create, celebrate, and learn together.

What is the theme of Dare2Create: Art & Film Students are invited to explore their personal connections to the people, places, histories and happenings of their city. They are encouraged to say something powerful about their identity and their experience of living in Toronto through art or film.

This festival includes a student visual arts exhibition. This includes a juried selection of art and film from grades 9 – 12 students in the Toronto District School Board. The jury for 2013-14 will include artists, educators and community members. The Dare2Create Art & Film Exhibition will take place at Artscape Youngplace, 180 Shaw Street. http://torontoartscape.org/artscape-youngplace Exhibition Dates: May 16 to June 1, 2014 Opening reception: May 21, 2014

The Artwork: Collaborations, Collections, Series… The art submitted may be submitted as a collaborative piece (two or more student artists working together) OR a group of individual students (two or more) working to create a ‘collection’ or series of individual pieces that work together in an installation. Individual students may also submit a proposal.
