The National Centre acts as a development and support unit for the Danish Agricultural Advisory Service.
The 46 local advisory centres sell advice and services to Danish farmers.
The Danish Agricultural Advisory Service (DAAS) is a partnership made up of 46 local advisory centres and a national centre. This unique two-level advisory system is both owned and used by Danish farmers. The partnership employs app 3,500 professionals. DAAS' history dates back to around 1875 when farmers' organisations started to employ their own advisers.
Danish Association of Horticultural Producers is dated back to 1887. In 2006 the advisory part merged with Danish Agricultural Service

The background • 1521 - Dutch growers was invited (by the king) to improve the horticultural production in Denmark • 1889 - Wholesale market Copenhagen • 1908 – Tomato and cucumbers in glasshouses • 1929 – Founding of GASA Odense and GASA Århus(1930) – Dutch auctions • 1930 – The first potplant growers
The way of selling Whole sale market: • Local market • High prices • Limited production The old ”GASA”: • The Dutch clock for local market • Limited production • Often low prices The new ”GASA”: • Strong organisation • Able to go the export market • ”Unlimited” production
• The structural development will continue – 160 potplantgrowers -> 100 growers in 5 years – 10 glasshouse vegetables growers (50% ecological within 5 years) • The area will decrease or be at the same level • Building of new glasshouses and loss of the old ones
