Required Team Technical Skills Scoring Guidelines: Officials will first look at the team technical skills on the performance outline and determine the degree of difficulty point range prior to the performance. Then, after watching the performance, the officials will score the skills based upon both the degree of difficulty point range and as well as the overall team execution of that skill.

Required Team Technical Skills Execution Rubric:  0 – 1 points: Team skill is within the 0-1 point degree of difficulty range performed with superior technique; and/or the 1-2 point difficulty range executed by the team with good technique and/or in the 2-3 point range performed with substandard technique.  1 – 2 points: Team skill is within the 1-2 point degree of difficulty range performed with superior technique, and/or the 2-3 point difficulty range executed by the team with good technique and/or in the 3-4 point range performed with substandard technique.  2– 3 points: Team skill is within the 2-3 point degree of difficulty range performed with superior technique; and/or the 3-4 point difficulty range executed by the team with good technique and/or in the 4-5 point range performed with substandard technique.  3– 4 points: Team skill is within the 3-4 point degree of difficulty range performed with superior technique; and/or the 4-5 point difficulty range executed by the team with good technique.  4-5 points: Team skill is within the 4-5 point degree of difficulty range performed with superior technique

TEAM TECHNICAL SKILLS DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY RUBRIC GUIDE This is a guide to help with the scoring rubric already set in place, not replace it. Pay attention to the verbiage describing an advanced turn series performed by the full team with good technique vs. strong technique. For example, a two 8-count changing spot turn series could drop down to a lower point range if only performed with good technique. **Note, the table below does not include every dance technical skill that could be performed. If you have a skill or group of skills in question, please e-mail a video to Hannah Harmon ([email protected]) for review.

DANCE DEDUCTIONS RUBRIC

All deductions will be taken from each scoring category.

Deductions

Minor Falls – 0.5

Major Falls – 1.0

Falls to the floor during execution of skills or in transitions. Examples: - Dancer steps out of pirouette (i.e. team attempted a triple pirouette, but one dancer stops after two rotations instead of three). - Dancer falls out of turn sequence. (i.e. One or more dancers stop turning in the middle of a turn sequence. This is NOT referring to rotation timing but is addressing an incomplete turn sequence. This infraction should NOT be duplicated for multiple dancers but should only be counted once for one single technical skill.) - Dancer slips on floor during choreography and puts hand down. - Dancer attempts an aerial and puts hand on floor. - Dancer’s knee hits the floor. (i.e. dancer attempts a headspring and over rotates to knees. Multiple falls in a sequence/series or multiple dancers falling or falls from a lift. Examples: - Dancer completely falls to floor and their entire backside or front side touches the floor. - Dancers attempt a lift in their routine that falls. This must be clear to the officials. (i.e. Dancers attempt to do a lift where the airborne dancer does a hip over-head rotation. The airborne dancer does not complete the rotation and it is clear to officials that the lift in its entirety failed in that performance.)

Performance Requirements Turn sequence: Any turn sequence executed by the entire team at the team level. The turn sequence must include two 8-counts of any combination of turns. For example:  Châinéturn (1,2) prep (3,4) Double pirouette (5,6) Châiné (7,8) prep (1,2) double coupe (3,4) prep (5,6) pique turn (7,8)  An 8-count of Fouetté a la Secondes, followed by another 8-count combination of any kind Team turn: Any turn executed by the entire team at the team level. Team leap: Any leap executed by the entire team at the team level.

Performance Outline To ensure that our judges have the best information to judge all the teams, it is important that the team performance outlines be properly filled out.
