DAILY WORK OUT 1 Daily Scripture & Questions II Samuel 1-4 What do we learn about David's heart from the way he mourned over the deaths of Saul and Jonathan and later over Abner and Saul's son, Ish-bosheth?

Family Devotions Scripture & Questions Read II Samuel 1:1-16. Saul was David's enemy. Why then did David grieve over his death? Why did he have the Amalekite, who killed Saul, put to death? Are you tempted to be happy over the fall of someone who has been mean to you? What would God rather that you do?

Biblical Prayer Focus Psalm 73:23-25 Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. Give praise for God's continual presence with His people. He has promised to comfort, guide and protect through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Ask Him to fulfill His promises and to help you run your race today, looking to the finish line of spending eternity with Him in heaven.

DAILY WORK OUT 2 Daily Scripture & Questions Psalm 6, 8-10, 14, 16, 19, 21 Sometimes it feels like God does not see the evil (Psalm 10:14), but He does and He declares that all have sinned (Psalm 14 is quoted in Romans 3:10-12). Even in the midst of trouble, the Lord is still our inheritance (see Psalm 16). Does your appreciation of God's Word compare to David's appreciation of the Law of the Lord in Psalm 19? Why not spend some time thanking God for His Word.

Family Devotions Scripture & Questions Read Psalm 6. Have you ever cried yourself to sleep (see verse 6)? Remember that the Lord hears your prayers and will rescue you at the right time. Now read Psalm 8:3-4 and Psalm 19:1. If it is a clear night, why not go outside with your parents and look at all the stars. How does the bigness of the universe make you feel? Remember you are the apple of God's eye.

Biblical Prayer Focus Mark 11:24-25 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” Make sure you have forgiven others and ask the Lord to help you have faith to believe, confident that He wants to give you what is best for you.

DAILY WORK OUT 3 Daily Scripture & Questions I Chronicles 1-2 Chronicles was compiled at the end of the exile which was much later in history. Its purpose was to give a theology of revival that the people needed as they returned to the land. These two chapters begin the extensive genealogical list of the tribes of Israel. We will punctuate the reading of this with looking at a number of the Psalms every other day. Why would a sense of roots like we gain from these lists be important to the exiles as they returned to the land?

Family Devotions Scripture & Questions Read I Chronicles 2:3, 7. How were Er and Achan singled out? What do you hope people will say about you 100 years from now? Do you think it will be a good sentence or a sentence that you messed up? Why so?

Biblical Prayer Focus Psalm 88:1-2 O LORD, God of my salvation; I cry out day and night before you. Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry! The Psalmist seems to pray all day long. Request of the Lord a moment-by-moment sense of His presence and an ability to be in an attitude of prayer all day long. Ask that your prayers will be continuous, in the sense of how a hacking cough is all the time.

DAILY WORK OUT 4 Daily Scripture & Questions Psalm 43-45, 49, 84-85, 87 What are the royal/kingly images that give the psalmist hope? What images rejoice in the change to worship God in the temple? Do you have that same joy in gathering to worship with other believers in Sunday services? Many of us as non-Jews may feel like outsiders to these Old Testament texts. How does Psalm 87:5-6 speak to us about our foretold, full citizenship?

Family Devotions Scripture & Questions Read Psalm 43. Sometimes we need to talk to ourselves and renew our minds with Biblical truth even when we don't feel like the Biblical truth is real. How did the psalmist do so in verse 5? Do you need to challenge any stinkin' thinkin'?

Biblical Prayer Focus Jude 24-25 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. Present yourself and those you protect in prayer (your protectorate) to the Lord and ask that He would keep you all from stumbling. Ask for grace and strength so that each of you finish the race of faith and are able, through Jesus, to be presented before Him blameless.

DAILY WORK OUT 5 Daily Scripture & Questions I Chronicles 3-5 In the midst of these chapters of genealogy are some sections that seem a little bit easier to apply. What are the lessons of I Chronicles 4:9-10; 5:18-22 and 5:25-26?

Family Devotions Scripture & Questions Read I Chronicles 4:9-10. Are there any great things that God has laid on your heart that you can do for His glory but only with His help? Can we pray together that God would give you visions of making a difference for His Kingdom?

Biblical Prayer Focus Psalm 85:4-7 Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us! Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation. When we mess up we often listen to the condemnation of Satan. God's discipline can be hard to take, but today choose to receive it with humility. Ask the Lord to heal you and revive you, bringing back joy into your life.

DAILY WORK OUT 6 Daily Scripture & Questions Psalm 73, 77-78 Asaph, in Psalm 73, struggles with the prospertity of the wicked. How do his thoughts change in verses 15-17? How do Asaph's meditations change in Psalm 77 (see verses 10-11)? In Psalm 78, what does Asaph want to tell the coming generation (verse 4)?

Family Devotions Scripture & Questions Read Psalm 73:1-3 and 15-17. Do you ever feel that ungodly people seem to enjoy everything? Sometimes it seems like only godly people suffer. In verse 17, we are reminded of the end of the ungodly. To what end do the ungodly always come?

Biblical Prayer Focus John 17:9-11 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. John 17:9-11

Pray with Jesus that the Father would keep us in His name. Also pray that unity would be a reality in your local church and between Christians in general.
