Student Competition Awards May 2011 :

Second Place at the 1st National Symposium for Engineering Final Year Project (1ST NSEFYP). College of Engineering and Architecture, University of Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman. This award was given to the SQU student team from Mechatronics program, which I supervised. Title of the project was: “Date Grading System”.

June 2003 :

First prize, Best FYP project . Department of Information Engineering, SQU. This prize was given to the FYP student team (Dawood AL_Badaai and Khamis AL_Barhi), which I supervised. Title of the project was: “Face detection based on Eigen Faces and Neuralnetworks”.

Teaching and Educational Development During my years of teaching, I have developed and taught courses at different levels in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Sultan Qaboos University, and the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Engineering School of Monastir (ENIM), Tunisia, as well. The courses I taught extended from undergraduate to Master level. The courses cover both theoretical and practical aspects of a wide spectrum of areas within Electrical Engineering (Digital Signal Processing, Sensors and Actuators, Analog/Digital Communications, Electronics, Digital Control, Computer Engineering and Programming).

Educational Development & Innovation in Teaching 

Prepared the degree plan of a new proposed track on “Biomedical Signals and Medical Devices” in the ECE department, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. Approved by SQU university council in spring 2015. It will start receiving students from next academic year 2015-2016.



Contributed in the preparation of a new Master Program on “Geomatics” at the college of engineering, SQU. This MS program is a chaired program between the Remote Sensing and GIS Center, Civil Engineering department and Electrical Engineering department.



Conducted a major revision of communication courses within the focus groups to prepare for ABET accreditation held in November 2013. All tracks of ECE Department have got a full accreditation from ABET.



Coordinator of FYP Seminar Series on realistic engineering constraints and Standards. It is delivered every year to the final year students in ECE department, college of Engineering,SQU.
