CRIME INVESTIGATION PACK Instructions for completing your Investigation Pack ready for Police collection.
1.
Once a suspected incident of theft has taken place in your store, please consult the flow chart at Appendix A and make your decision as to whether further Police Investigation is necessary.
2.
Once you have contacted Police and obtained your individual incident & crime number, please write this on the front sheet and on the envelope in which the investigation pack will be placed, along with the date and time of the incident.
3.
If CCTV is available copy the footage onto a suitable media format (CD/Video) in order that enquiries can commence with that evidence. Play back the recording to ensure it captures the offender in the relevant time spans.
4.
Complete parts 1 and 2 on the Police Exhibit Label as shown Appendix B.
5.
Please insert the DVD / Video Witness Statement, Appendix C, the DVD / Video and your Exhibit Label into a “plastic pocket”.
6.
Finally complete the proforma statement, see Appendix D. Please play particular attention to the top box of the first page where you will sign a declaration as to the truth of the contents. A signature is also require at the bottom left of each page.
7.
Place all items into the envelope for Police collection. The Investigation Pack will be collected after 48 hours of the incident and within 7 days. If it is not collected please call 101 and ask Crime Service Team (CST) .
