COUPLINGS Quick-Flex ® reduces down-time Quick-Flex Couplings simple design reduces maintenance and downtime costs. There is no possible interference between the coupling hubs if the coupling insert fails. Unlike a jaw coupling there is no metal to metal contact preserving the coupling in case of total failure. The only spare part required is a spare wrap around urethane insert that can be changed in a few minutes.

Quick-Flex ® forgives misalignment The coupling will accept angular misalignment up to 2 degrees and parallel shaft displacement up to 0.020". The design of the coupling is such that it will accommodate end float from 0.078" on the small couplings and 0.312" on the large couplings with no reduction in torque rating.

Quick-Flex ® has excellent balance The simplicity of the coupling combined with the accurate machining of all surfaces on numerical control machine tools enables Quick-Flex Couplings to run without balancing at speeds above most other couplings. QM also provides couplings that are dynamically balanced for extremely high speed operation (upon request for an extra charge).

Quick-Flex ® transient torque Quick-Flex Flexible Couplings transmit high torque loads and provides cushioning for your drive. Quick-Flex Couplings can sustain momentary peak torque loads in excess 200 percent of its maximum torque rating. This overload should not occur more than once per day.

Quick-Flex ® drive range Quick-Flex Couplings will couple drives in a range from fractional horsepower to motors up to 20,000 + horsepower. Shaft sizes are from 3/8" to 15".

Quick-Flex ® hubs QF hubs are manufactured from Steel, do not contain any gray iron or semi steel part which can fail prematurely.

Quick-Flex ® stainless steel Quick-Flex offers a complete inventory of type 303 stainless steel couplings up to and including our QF100 models. QF175 and larger models are available upon request price on application. Type 316 stainless steel couplings are available on request. Quick-Flex couplings up to QF25 come complete with a grade 400 stainless steel snap ring, QF50 and larger supplied with stainless steel bolts.

Quick-Flex ® covers Available in five styles: standard steel cover, standard stainless steel cover, Urethane vertical split cover (QF15 QF175), steel vertical split cover (QF250 - QF10260) and horizontal steel split cover.

Stock bores Quick-Flex Couplings are available off the shelf in standard stock bore sizes in models QF3 to QF100. Quick-Flex Couplings are available with Browning, QD and TAPERLOCK style bushings in models from QF5 to QF500. Quick-Flex couplings are also available to fit common splined shafts. Tapered bores for Mill motor applications are also available.

Benefits

Quick-Flex ® inserts Quick-Flex inserts are supplied in four styles. Red, Blue, White and Black urethane. Our inserts are resilient to most chemicals and will operate within a temperature range of -50°C to +177°C (-60°F to +350°F).

The QF Red insert - standard The Quick Flex red insert is made from relatively soft urethane . This insert is designed for most applications. The red insert excels in vibration dampening and cushioning shock loads. This insert is also best for reversing applications or applications with quick starting and stopping of high inertial loads. Operational temperatures of -50°C to +100°C ( -60°F to +212°F).

The QF Blue insert - high torque The Quick Flex blue insert is made from a stiffer grade of urethane. This insert is best for high torque applications. Quick Flex couplings with blue inserts are an excellent replacement for gear, disk or grid style couplings. The Quick Flex coupling with a blue insert is able to deliver very high torque and still provide a degree of torsional softness and ability to dampen vibration. Operational temperatures of -50°C to +100°C (-60°F to +212°F).

The QF White insert - high temperature This insert is used in applications where heat is a concern. The white insert can handle temperatures up to +177°C (+350°F). The torque capacity is equal to our blue insert

The QF Black insert - highest torque The Quick-Flex Black insert offers the highest torque ratings of any of the inserts. It is well suited for very high torque applications. Quick-Flex couplings with a Black insert are excellent replacements for gear style couplings with operational temperatures of -50°C to +100°C (-60°F to +212°F).

Quick-Flex ® Spacer couplings

Standard Spacer coupling Quick Flex Spacer couplings are available in drop out spacer coupling. These couplings are custom manufactured to any length with 48 hours lead time from shaft seperations of 1" to 24" .The standard spacer body is located by a machined spigot and does not require re-alignment when the spacer body has been removed for servicing.

Double-ended Spacer coupling The double ended spacer coupling utilizes two Quick-Flex hubs, two inserts, two covers (either standard or the newly designed split cover) and spacer body enabling the QuickFlex spacer coupling to accommodate higher speeds and longer shaft separations. The double ended spacer couplings are available from QF15 and up. The double ended spacer coupling can be utilized in a wide range of speed from low speed (low-high torque) to high speed (low--high torque) applications.

Rigid Compression Couplings

Features/Benefits The well-proven steel design of QM Bearings Rigid Compression couplings is ideal for tough applications where strength and affordability are important. Guaranteed for life against breakage, the cast steel coupling are an excellent choice for joining two shafts of the same size. This kind of coupling is also known as a “rigid clamp style” coupling. The compression couplings are made from cast steel. The castings are first rough machined,then, a 1/16” spacer is placed between the coupling halves which are bolted together for final boring. The spacer is removed and the result is a compression clamp on the shaft 6. Available in standard sizes for shafts 1-7/16” through 5”. Custom sizes are available upon request.

Installation Guide

Standard Coupling Installation Guide Standard Cover You require two coupling hubs, one insert and a standard cover. The standard cover will have one snap ring (sizes QF3 to QF175). QF250 and larger will have bolts and washers. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

Check bore(s) of coupling hub and confirm shaft size(s) to confirm parts will mount on the shaft. If necessary, clean and deburr the shaft to be sure the mounting surfaces are clean of any obstructions. Place the cover onto the driven shaft if space permits. The cover may be installed on the driver shaft. Slide hubs into place on their respective shafts. Interference fit hubs must be heated before installation. Make the necessary adjustment to align coupling hubs within specifications. Please note: Improved operating performance is achieved when coupling is properly aligned. Set Gap ‘G’ dimension. Secure hubs to the shaft (between ‘A’ & ‘B’ position). Install the Insert. Slide the cover into place over the insert. Install snap ring to secure or insert bolts to secure.

Horizontal Split Cover You require two coupling hubs, one insert and a horizontal split cover which consists of two halves and bolts and nuts to assemble. The assembly for steps one to eight is the same as for the standard cover except the cover is installed after the hubs are set on the shaft, hence, Step 9 is position cover over the coupling and close cover using provided nuts and bolts.

Vertical Split Cover You require two coupling hubs, one insert and a vertical split cover which consists of two halves and bolts and nuts to assemble. The assembly is the same for steps one to eight as the standard coupling except only one half of the cover is placed on each shaft before the installation of the hub, hence, Step 9 is position cover over coupling and bolt the two pieces together using provided nuts and bolts.

Balance These couplings are machined on all surfaces and the inherent balance is very accurate. Using a piece of key steel the exact length of the hub and sets crews that completely fill the set-screw holes will maintain the natural balance of the coupling.
