 Mobil and Stationary Powder-Refilling Machines Brief technical description The purpose of our powder refilling machine is the dust free refilling of fine and finest grained powder above all for replenishing and periodic checking of powder extinguishers as well as initial filling of small series. All our powder refilling machines are working on the same principle. By means of a suction device the powder is leaded through a strainer (1,6 mm) in the separator. There, the filter unit is separating the intake air from the powder. Because of the low porosity at high suction performance the suction air is escaping while the powder is falling in the provided container (fire extinguisher). Through steady development of our machines and accessories we are in a position both to fill mobile fire extinguishers and smaller fire extinguishing vehicles by using the preliminary separator VA 230 and also plastic containers. The complete cleaning of the whole station after the filling procedure guarantees a very long useful life of the filter unit. Beside that an immediate change of powder is possible. The types UP 07-6 and UP 05-5 are especially suitable for mobile use in vehicles because of their small dimensions and weights and their voltage while the stationary operated stations UP 15-5 and UP 02-5 guarantee a very high suction performance thanks to their three phases current.

This, the smallest model, is very handle thanks to its compact dimensions and can be used anywhere. Two big transportation wheels permit the machine to be moved to wherever it is needed.  Stationary Powder-Refilling Machine model UP02 The biggest and most powerful powder-refilling machine, for more than 30 years. General - brief technical description

The most important requirement for such a machine is the dust-free filling and the dust-free emptying of cylinders. For this purpose, an efficient suction unit as well as a sufficiently dimensioned filter equipment is required to guarantee the function for a prolonged period without having an important decrease in performance. Furthermore it is important that the filters are cleaned after each operation by means of the reversing unit. The most efficient way to clean a filter is by counter current blowing (reversing) and subsequent vibration with the builtin vibrator. Furthermore this machine is equipped with a subsequent fine filter for the very finest dust particles which cannot be retained by the filter. Thus no dust particles will penetrate into the suction unit, which means a considerable increase of working life. In order to guarantee the required dust-free filling without additional exhauster, we have created a close system in connecting the fire extinguisher container to be filled in a dustproof way to the filling funnel. Here it is important to have a universal design for the clamping device and the holding fixture for the individual containers to allow the filling of a variety of different types and sizes of fire extinguishers without major alterations. In the closed filling system, the extinguisher to be filled is pressed against a sealing, so that it is not possible to control at the same time the powder weight to be filled by means of a balance. Therefore the powder storage container (a sack or a drum) is placed beside the machine on a floor balance, preferably a digital balance with tare, which continuously displays the weight of the powder being sucked out of the container. Another very practical feature is the sieve in the suction pipe, preventing the transport of clotted powder into the filling funnel and from there to the fire extinguisher. This is very important because such powder lumps cannot only block the nozzle or the deliver pipe but the humidity contained in it may even cause an expansion of the lumping and a total failure of the fire extinguisher. The machine is designed in such a way that all powder fire extinguishers from 1 to 50 kg can be clamped in and filled without auxiliary equipment. In swinging the lifting table out of the way, most types of wheeled units P 50 can be placed directly under the filling funnel and closed hermetically. For filling of larger wheeled units P 100 and P 250, the powder separator is moved up to its topmost position. This allows enough head to connect the units dust-tightly by means of a flexible connection line.

New Filling or Refilling of extinguishers - P 12 kg The container to be filled is placed onto the lifting table and pressed against the sealing cone of the control funnel when actuating the crank handle. To this effect the container orifice and the centre of the sealing cone have to be aligned towards each other. Then the holding magnets at the fork can be adjusted in away that further containers of same type and size are automatically aligned. Then place the powder storing container or storing sack on to the balance if available and suction the required quantity of powder by means of the suction pipe into the extinguisher to be filled.

Filling of mobile Extinguishing Units - P 50 kg For emptying and refilling of larger mobile extinguishing units the lifting device is swung away, and the extinguishing unit up to a size of type P 50 can be placed directly below the control funnel. After that lower the separator until the sealing cone covers the filling orifice.

Filling of mobile Extinguishing Units - P 250 kg If the mobile fire extinguishing units P 100 and P 250 are to be filled, these units we first place most closely to the filling machine. Then crank the powder separator completely upwards to maintain a fall between the connecting flange of the control funnel and the filling orifice. Replace the control funnel with the two knurled nuts by the interchangeable connecting piece (accessory).

Nitrogen refilling device model NF 80-B is serves for the purpose of pressurizing permanently pressurized extinguishers by means of nitrogen for a wide range of makes. A quick-acting coupling is fixed at the end of the hose pipe so that further filling clamps or screw adapters can be connected.

 CO2-Refilling Machine model CM01 for refilling of CO2 propellant gas bottles and CO2 fire extinguishers Simple design - safe to handle – strong construction - proven in operation Brief technical description

This system serves to remove the carbon dioxide (CO2) from a supply container to smaller containers for use, such as CO2 cartridges for fire extinguishers or CO2 fire extinguishers, etc. The cartridges to be filled are clamped on scales and thus filled by weight. For the feeding of CO2, the machine is equipped with an electrically driven pump, two solenoid valves, manometers, a safety valve and a balance on which a universal filling head with quickacting clamping device is mounted. It permits the quick filling and safe chucking of all commercial types of CO2 cartridges. A suitable socket is required for each valve design of inside CO2 cartridges. As a rule, the cartridges to be filled are sealed at the bottle neck. Appropriate special filling head flanges for special forms and smaller cartridges are available. A special adapter with filling connection is provided for filling CO2 fire extinguishers as well as CO2 bottles with turning valve. For a serial filling the attachment of a pneumatically-operated screw to close the CO2 bottles by means of an adjustable torque is also possible. The feed line is equipped with a filter in standard execution. The system is enclosed in a wheeled housing.

The machines are equipped with a pneumatically driven high-pressure pump. In the standard plant, the water is fed directly out of the main. As an alternative, we also offer a water circulation with an appropriate receptacle and a transfer pump. The advantage of the water circulation is that an emulsion may be admixed to prevent corrosion inside the cylinders. The cylinders are placed on a vertically adjustable table and retained by a quick-acting clamping device. For propellant gas bottles the machine is equipped with a fixed connection with suitable thread adapter.

Function

Propellant gas bottles to be tested are directly screwed into the suitable thread adapter. Cylinders have to be equipped additionally with a fitting according to the customer's requirements and are connected with quick-acting couplings, installed at the pressure hoses. Afterwards the test cylinders are filled completely with water by means of the mains water pressure or the transfer pump. The air inside the bottle is let off through a relief tube. The roll front should not be closed before water is running out without any bubbles at the overflow nozzle. After pressing the roll front switch, the pressure transformer may be switched on. After reaching the test pressure the pressure transformer is cut off by a pre adjusted contact switch at the pressure gauge.

The units operate with a water cycle system. A rust preventive agent may be added to the water to prevent corrosion after the pressure test. The cylinders are manually inserted in a threaded head or in a quick-clamping head with a short lever movement, without any effort. Our patented quick-clamping head offers the quickest method of clamping the cylinders. Alternatively you can use threaded attachment heads or intermediate clamping parts, which can be screwed on by hand with just a few rotation and fit to the quick-clamping head. All operations are controlled and checked at a switchboard. A low pressure pump fills the cylinders and a high pressure pump is used for the checking. A contact manometer controls the required pressure. The water is drained out through a suction line of the low pressure pump. The output of the units is determined by five factors: a) the number of pressure test stations b) the volume of the cylinders to be checked c) the diameter of the filling hole of the cylinder (smallest possible opening 28 mm dia; smaller openings require a threaded adapter). d) the number of personnel available e) duration of the checking phase. In order to utilise the waiting periods during filling and draining and also in order to obtain a certain checking period under test pressure, the machines are designed in such a way that alternative use is allowed. The clamping heads are arranged in an angle or in one row, depending to the customer's request.

The barrel is fixed in a prismatic holder, the drum to be emptied is first lifted and the upper edge is centred in a funnel-shaped holder and pressed dust-tightly against a rubber sealing. Then the drum together with the holder is hydraulically tilted with a tilting angle of 155°. During the removal of the drained barrel it is an advantage to generate a vacuum inside the receiving drum by means of an optionally attached dust collector, so that the rising dust is drawn inside without causing irritation or pollution.
