Corporate Supporters Fundraising Pack

We need your help… Not everyone has a straightforward path in life. We want to ensure that Dundee’s young people have the best possible chance of success in learning, careers and life. Without our help, so many youngsters would be in very different places, living very different lives. Jennifer, age 16 “thank goodness for Helm and all the help I received. Without them I would be dead and not on this planet. They gave me the support I needed and didn't judge me”

Natasha, age 18 “ I had no idea what to do after leaving school with no qualifications, a pal told me about Helm and they helped get me on track. I am now completing a modern apprenticeship and loving life” Rian, Age 17 “ wow—feel like I am getting to live my life now that I have a plan. Helm helped me focus and I now have a job. I just needed a help and a hand for a bit.”

Scottish Charity no. SC008580

About Helm We are a charity based in the heart of Dundee. We provide creative, supportive learning to individuals , in particular young people who are facing difficult barriers to making successful transitions into adult life.

Every year, over young people participate in our programmes building their confidence, gaining life and practical work skills enabling them to progress into employment, further training or education as active citizens in their communities. We engage with students in creative and innovative ways and look to find the spark that personally ignites their new future. We radically increase the attendance of the students, thus increasing their chances of successful outcomes.

Our aim is to empower our students to dare to dream, and give them the skills and resources to make those dreams a reality.

Helm help over

70% of students to reach positive destinations.

Get involved Every year we need to raise 3/4 million to fund the services we provide at Helm, Dundee. We cannot do this without your support. Public funding is on the decrease and our need for companies and groups to get involved is growing. It is our aim to continue to operate a sustainable organisation that can grow and develop with the increasing needs of our young people in and around Dundee.

Visit Helm We are more than happy to come and talk to you about our work, but you can also come and visit us to see just how wonderful our centre is, and the kind of services that we are operating and where your fundraising efforts would be needed most.

Get Talking! The best way to get people interested in Helm and the work that we do is to talk to people. By encouraging staff, your friends and families to talk about Helm in the context of your fundraising activities, you will increase the public awareness of our cause. Awareness itself will not raise money, it will however provide an atmosphere conducive to doing so.

The sky is only one limit!

Events Hosting an event in aid of Helm is a great way to involve staff, members and customers, clients and suppliers. These can be hugely rewarding for all involved and can improve and increase team morale and motivation, whilst giving something worthwhile back to the local community.

Employee engagement fundraising Improve internal communication, motivate the teams, promote creativity and encourage team spirit. We can work to help create a bespoke package of fundraising events including sponsored events, workplace activities or individual challenges.

Corporate donations Your company or organisation could make a simple donation to Helm, helping us to keep our centre running. When gross donations are made to charities in this way, your organisation is able to claim tax relief at your corporate rate. E.g. a company which is taxed at 20% making a donation of £10,000 will be eligible for a tax relief amounting to £2,000 when completing your tax return.

Corporate sponsorship By sponsoring an event organised by Helm, not only are you helping us to increase the overall income of an event but you will also benefit from the brand exposure and PR activity from a sponsorship partnership with Helm.

Charity of the year Nominate Helm for your organisation charity partnership.

Matched Giving Many companies now operate a matched funding scheme, whereby they will match all the funds raised by one of their employees up to a specified limit. So, if an employee were to raise £200, your company will match with another £200. Worth asking!

Payroll Giving One of the easiest ways for employees to give regularly to Helm. It is both flexible and tax efficient. Employees choose how much they want to give each month. The donation then comes off their gross pay, before the tax man touches it. Regular donations benefit Helm, as it means we can make financial plans for the long term future.

CHLOE CLARK AGE 18, F/T CAR MECHANIC Helm worked for me. I would be an x-box zombie without their help. I am now a volunteer with Helm to help other kids in a similar situation

Rian, 18, said: “It felt like a huge weight off my shoulders getting my business and administration Modern Apprenticeship; I was ecstatic. I’ve not always been the most confident when applying for jobs and I’ve had my fair share of rejection.”
