Created especially to help you experience more iconic wilderness destinations more often, the Club is designed for a select group of people with a shared obsession for exploring the wildest and most untouched corners of the world. With a selection of accommodation options and adventures that rise above all expectation, we promise you the warmest of welcomes and hospitality that comes right from the heart.
ABOUT &BEYOND The Bateleur Club was created by &Beyond, one of the world’s leading luxury experiential travel companies. &Beyond designs personalised luxury safaris in 15 African countries, as well as India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Nepal. The company also owns and operates 33 extraordinary lodges and camps in Africa and India’s wildlife high spots.
The Bateleur Club concept The purpose of the Bateleur Club is to enable local residents to enjoy luxury experiential travel and adventures throughout Africa, India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Nepal. The club allows you to purchase your points in local currency and redeem them for travel to destinations where you would normally have to pay in US dollars. In certain periods, the Bateleur Club is able to offer you rates that equal the best of those available for local residents up to two years in advance. The Club also puts &Beyond’s internal travel agency at your disposal, allowing you to benefit from both their extensive experience and the favourable rates that they are able to negotiate.

Points guides We have designed an easy to use points guide for everything that you can redeem your Bateleur Club points for. From accommodation to flights and road transfers, as well as specialist safaris and other adventures to experience once you get there, you will find it all on your points guide. New points guides are issued each year and remain valid throughout the year. The guides are issued approximately 18 months in advance. Your points guides are included in your membership pack and are also available online at www.bateleurclub.com. Points guides are conveniently colour coded, so that you can easily see periods with the most favourable rates at a glance. Rates are displayed in points per person per night and are fully inclusive at &Beyond lodges. We also give you the rates for Quick Getaways, the 48-hour quick breakaway option available at all &Beyond’s lodges. In addition, you will also see a range of activities and adventures at &Beyond lodges. Travel options to the various lodges and the points required to pay for them are also displayed. As our Partner Collection expands, more premier hotels and lodges may be added to our points guides. Members will be kept informed of all additions and updated points guides will always be available online at www.bateleurclub.com.
Buying points • Points are valued at R 24 each. • For Bateleur Club membership, you are required to make a minimum purchase of 1 500 points, valued at R36 000. • Purchases over 6 000 points will receive a complimentary 150 bonus points and purchases over 8 000 will receive a complimentary bonus of 300 points. • Should you not have enough points to complete a reservation, you can make a top-up purchase of up to 500 points. • Once your points have been used up, you can purchase additional points, which must consist of at least the minimum balance of 1 500.
Earning points There are three ways that you can earn bonus points: • • •
Refer a new member and you will be awarded 10% of the total points that they purchase, up to a maximum of 600 points. Purchase 6 000 Bateleur Club points or more and you will be awarded 150 complimentary points. You will also receive 300 complimentary points for purchases above 8 000 points.
The longer you remain a member and the more points you purchase, the more rewards you will receive through the Bateleur Club loyalty programme.
Points validity • Points remain valid for two years from date of purchase. • If your points are within thirty days of their expiry date, we can extend them for an additional two years, provided that you purchase enough additional points to take your total balance to the required minimum of 1 500 points. • &Beyond reserves the right to charge an administration fee of 10% of your unused points should you need their validity to be extended. Please note that we will send you a reminder when your points are due to expire but it remains your responsibility to contact us in order to request an extension. • If you do not have enough valid points to complete a reservation, you can purchase a top-up of up to 500 additional points to allow you to complete that reservation.

Using your points for travel • Once you have decided where and when you want to travel, use your points guides to see how many points you will need to redeem. • Check the points balance on your monthly Bateleur Club statement, which you will receive via email, to make sure that you have enough points. • If you don’t have enough points for your reservation, call us on 011 809 4448 or email us on
[email protected] and ask to top up your points balance. You will be allowed to purchase up to 500 points as a top-up to enable you to complete your reservation. • Once you have enough points to redeem for your plans, make your reservation through our dedicated team of travel consultants, available on
[email protected]. • The points redeemed for your reservation will be deducted from your account and your new points balance will reflect on your next Bateleur Club statement. Please also see the Bateleur Club reservations section for more details.
Quick Getaways Quick Getaways are last-minute breakaways that are offered at all of &Beyond’s lodges at even more favourable rates. These incredibly affordable stays can only be confirmed at 48 hours’ notice and are subject to availability. Reservations for Quick Getaways are arranged in the same way as all other Bateleur Club travel bookings. Please note that you can only book Quick Getaways if you have sufficient points available and top-ups are not permitted. Drinks and other personal items are not included in the rate of Quick Getaways and will need to be paid for separately at the lodge.
Where to travel Bateleur Club members can use their points at all of &Beyond’s lodges and camps, as well as our Partner Collection of premier hotels and lodges, including some old favourites that we have brought back at our members’ request. Please refer to your points guide for the points required for travel to these select destinations.
&Beyond lodges Bateleur Club members can use their points or enjoy Quick Getaways at all of our 33 luxurious safari camps and lodges in Africa and India’s most iconic wilderness destinations.
&Beyond Partner Collection To provide you with even more places to travel, we have welcomed a number of our best loved partner hotels and camps to the Bateleur Club family. Situated in destinations where &Beyond does not have lodges, Bateleur Club members can now use their points to pay for stays at these exclusive travel partners. Carefully selected to follow the &Beyond promise, each of these partners offers natural luxury, warm local hospitality and a commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism.
Who can use my points? • You can nominate and authorise your friends, family or employees to make reservations and travel using your Bateleur Club points. • You can choose to give another person or persons the right to make reservations using your Bateleur Club points. Your Bateleur Club Relationship Manager would have explained this option and pointed out the relevant forms while completing your paperwork. Should you decide that you would like to add a name or change the people who are authorised to make reservations on your membership, please contact us and we will email or fax you the relevant forms to fill out. • You can use your points to make reservations and pay for accommodation, travel and activities for anyone that you choose. Please make sure that you provide their full names and contact details. • All reservation requests must contain your membership number, regardless of who is travelling. • Please note that, in both of the cases above, you remain solely responsible for any additional charges that may accrue during your nominee’s travel.
Bateleur Club reservations • You can book your travel arrangements up to two years in advance, provided that your points remain valid. • Make sure you have enough points to complete your reservation or contact us to purchase additional top-up points. • To make your reservation, contact our dedicated Bateleur Club travel consultants on 011 809 4448 or via email on
[email protected]. • Please have the following information at hand when you call or include it in your email: Bateleur Club membership number, dates of travel, number and full names of people travelling, the ages of any children under 12 and the names of the lodges or hotels where you wish to stay. • Please note that reservations will only be confirmed on receipt of a written request containing all the information listed above. • If you are making travel plans for a friend or family member, please ensure that the main member makes the initial booking request or that their membership number and contact details are included. • Should you not have enough points to process your reservation, you can top-up with up to 500 points during the reservation process. Should you require more points than this, please contact your Relationship Manager prior to starting your reservation. • Please note that the response time on bookings for travel in South Africa is 24 hours. Due to the complexity of the travel arrangements, reservations for travel to Southern or East Africa may take 2 to 3 days to confirm. • A cancellation fee of 100% will be charged if reservation are cancelled within 45 days of travel.
