AUDIO UNIT TRANSCRIPT /* NHR: REFERENCE */ ROV Response: This entire document will be replaced with a document derived from the vendor manual. Source: Audio Unit Transcript provided with the Touchscreen /* NHR: Regrettably, it appears that this document is so disorganized and run together that it might mostly serve to confuse and overwhelm poll workers. Assuming that it is supposed to be a reference that shows the text of what voters will hear on the audio ballot, so the poll worker can assist the voter over stumbling points, this document should be completely reorganized with section and subsection titles, a table of contents, better separation between sections, and clearer distinction between the machine's spoken responses and the keystrokes or situation that prompts the response. */ /* NHR: As a possible replacement for this document or an additional instructional document, it would be good for poll workers to have another document, perhaps called "Audio Ballot Navigation Guide". Keeping in mind that many poll workers will have never even experienced voting a visual ballot on this Edge touch screen, the guide should start with a simple outline of the steps involved in the voting process. The guide could go on to explain how to get started and how to assist with some of the more common known stumbling blocks in the process, and might include a few of the audio transcripts shown here. */ Please make sure: 1. Follow the instructions on the job cards. 2. Touchscreen must be set up and ready to use by 7:00am. 3. Audio unit is taken out from its canvas case and is placed in the touchscreen well area /* NHR: behind the display screen */. 4. No yellow bar appears on the touchscreen. During the day, /* NHR: always */ leave the Audio Unit CONNECTED, ready for when a Voter requests to vote an Audio Ballot. 6. Activate audio card for voters who wish to use audio unit.
