We Survived Zombie Camp!

The first Zombie Survival Camp was held this past summer at Whitehills Park and it was a resounding success! Campers learned wilderness skills vital for survival. They built shelters, found edible plants, established camp perimeters, put together "bug out bags" and more. Plus, they had to defend against the "zombies"!

Local Artist Sharon Griffes Tarr Shares Her Craft with East Lansing Teaching students the fine art of drawing and painting has been a singular joy for award-winning artist Sharon Griffes Tarr. Her studio classes and workshops in East Lansing have been conducted on a regular basis for over 20 years of her 35-year teaching experience. In that time, hundreds of successful artists have been fostered by this respected and in-demand instructor. Sharon’s classes in East Lansing focus on developing understanding and skill in the best tradition of fine art. Her studies at the American Academy of Art in Chicago laid the groundwork for her teaching philosophy. This—plus years of experience—have been instrumental in developing her “nuts and bolts" approach to teaching supplied with a good dose of humor and ultimate respect for the individual. Equal attention is given

to students of all skill levels. Sharon’s painting experience is balanced by working en plein air (on location) where she hones her technique and understanding of light and shadow vs. studio work that allows for creative invention and expression. Light and atmosphere ultimately dominate her impressionistic oils and pastel paintings whether they embrace the rigors of landscape, still life or figure painting. Tarr is a member of Plein Air Artists of West Michigan, the Brighton Art Guild, the Great Lakes Pastel Society and is a Master Member of the Great Lakes Plein Air Painters Association. Her works are in private and public collections across the United States and abroad. Her studio is located near Williamston. Sharon’s work may be viewed on her website: www.SGTarr.com.
