Philip Keys According to the 1860 census for Wright Co. Mo. he was a farmer, age 45 born in Tenn. During the war he shot and killed a Union man named John Key, who engaged in taking corn from his cornfield, the act being done in self defense a few days before March 9, 1862. Philip was taken prisoner in the skirmish at Mountain Grove, Mo. as part of Joe Hopper's Confederate guerrillas in March 1862.

Phillip H. Kincheloe Born, Nov. 1838 Kentucky (Richmond, Va.?) He is buried in the Kincheloe cemetery. Phillip arrived in Missouri from Breckinridge Co. Ken. in early 1840. in 1849 he moved to Wright Co. Mo. and settled along the Gasconade River in Montgomery Township. In 1854 he was a County Court Judge. He was a Confederate private, in Company H, 5th Mo. Inf. enlisting 6/1863 and was discharged in 1864. He was shot in the leg and was taken prisoner during the war. He lived in Manes, Mo. after the war and on Aug. 25, 1913 applied for a pension. (At the battle of Hartville, Mo. a private Kincheloe, Confederate soldier, first name and unit unknown, died of wounds in Hartville, Mo. Jan 11, 1863. Possibly Jessie Elias Kincheloe, born 1836 ?)

Elijah McRoberts Sr. He is listed as having paid taxes in Wright Co. Mo. in 1861 and was a Confederate soldier during the war and killed at the battle of Big Blue.

Frances McConnell McRoberts Buried in Coon Creek Cemetery. Confederate soldier during the war who was killed at the battle Blue Eye, Mo. (Big Blue) Oct. 1864

James F. Marcum Born Nov. 1833 in Tenn. He was a Confederate private in Company H, 1st Mo. Cav. 7/1861 to 4/1865. His back was injured by a bombshell during the war. He lived in Montgomery township in Wright Co. Mo. in 1890

Daniel J. Massey Born 1845 in Tenn. Died Sept. 1864. Buried in the Claxton Cemetery. He enlisted in the Confederate army on March 1, 1864 and died in Lebanon, Missouri of wounds received in action in Wright Co. Mo. July 22, 1864. A David J. Massey age 16 is listed in the 1860 census of Wright County, Mo. he died or was Killed in 1862. Born, 1841 in Tenn. and is buried in the Claxton Cemetery

John Riley Massey Born 1839 in tenn. Died, 1888 buried in the Shaddy Cemetery. John came to Wright County, Mo. with his parents between 1850 and 1860 from Tennessee. During the war he enlisted, Aug. 1, 1863 in the Confederate army originally serving in Clark's Missouri Inf. later transferring to Capt. Von Phul's Mo. Light

Artillery and on Dec 2, 1863 transferred back Clark's Mo. Inf. In 1888 John was killed when a team of horses ran away with him.

Thomas Jefferson Montgomerie Born, Aug. 19, 1840 - 1 Wright Co. Mo. Died, Feb. 10, 1895 Buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Thomas attend the Mountain Grove Academy in which Simian W. Phillips was one of his first teachers. When the war broke out he went South and joined the Confederate army in Cockerel's brigade and served about three years. At the expiration of his term of enlistment he returned to Missouri.

Silas Moon Born, Oct. 1843 Phelps Co., Mo. Died March 5, 1935. He entered the Confederate army in Wright Co. Mo. He applied for a pension Aug. 7, 19 while living in Mansfield, Mo.

James C. Moore Born 1830 age 30 in 1860 census, Wright Co. Died Nov. 20, 1863 Camp Hazard Ark. He was a confederate Private in Company D, Moore's 10th Reg. Inf. Vol's. Co. H, 10th Ark. Inf.

John Jackson Moore Born June 15, 1824 Monroe Co. , Tenn. Died March 25, 1906 near Lamb, Wright Co. Mo. buried in the Moore Cemetery. In the late 1830's he moved from Monroe Co. Tenn. to Montgomery township in Wright Co. Mo. During the Civil War John served in Company E, 73rd Missouri State Guard C.S.A.

Silas Moore Born Oct. 1843 in Mo. He entered the Confederate army in Lebanon, Mo. in 1861. He was living in Hartville, Mo. when he applied for a pension on Oct. 3, 1921 at age 78.

John House Moseley Born 1843 Hardin Co., Tenn. John is listed in the 1860 census for Wright Co. Mo. as age 15. He was a Confederate soldier during the war.

Levi Perkins Neill Born Jan. 1, 1837 in Tenn., White Co. near Sparta. Died July 31, 1914 buried in Coldwater Cemetery. He was a farmer, justice of the peace and postmaster of St. George, Mo. Levi served as a private and first sgt. of Company E, 25th Tenn. Inf. He fought in the battle o Shiloh, Tenn., April 1862, Logan's Cross Roads, Ken. Jan. 1862 Nashville, Tenn. 1864 and Chickamauga, Ga. Sept. 1863. He applied for a pension Aug. 18, 1913, age 76.

Thomas James Neill Born 1841 in N.C. Died, Aug. 28, 1916 buried in the Coldwater Cemetery. He changed his name to James Thomas. He was a farmer, Methodist and a Democrat. During the war he served in Company K, Tenn. Reg. Mounted Inf. Thomas changed his belief from the Confederate to union army. When the family moved to Missouri he dressed in women's clothing in order to hide from Bushwhackers. After leaving Competition, Mo. Thomas bought a farm near St. George, Elk Creek Township, Wright Co., Mo.

Mikeal Newbery He was a Confederate soldier who lived in Mountain Grove, Mo. in 1890.

Alexander Newton Born, Sept. 30, 1810 Va. Died Dec. 20, 1878 Buried in Aneock Cemetery. Alexander was a confederate soldier during the Civil War.

James Newton He is listed as having paid taxes in Wright Co. Mo. in 1861 and was a Confederate soldier who was hanged by Federals 8 miles west of the courthouse. James Newton, age 19 according to the 1860 census for Wright Co. Mo.

Henry Nickle He migrated to Wright Co. Mo. from Tenn. Henry was a Confederate soldier during the war and was never heard form and presumed killed in action.

William Nickle Born 1840 Tenn. Died 1920 William migrated to Wright Co. Mo. from Tenn. by way of Shelby Co. Ill. shortly before the Civil War. He was a Confederate soldier during the war. He returned to Wright County after the war and taught school and studied law becoming a lawyer. He was elected to two tms as probate judge of Wright Co. from 1907 to 1914.

Samuel Thomas Nunn also known as "Dick". Born April 2, 1846. Died March 19, 1922 Presley, Texas. Samuel received his education in Wright County, Mo. and helped his father with the farm. In Feb. 1863, just short of his 17th birthday, he joined the Confederate army, in Company G, 3rd Missouri Cavalry with his friend, T. J. Merrell in Howell County, Mo. He served under Capt. Peter Sanders who would later become his fatherin-law. He fought in Gen. Price's army, surrendering May 11, 1865 at Jacksonport, Ark. After the war Samuel was a farmer, a dedicated member of the Church of Christ, and a faithful member of the Masonic Order. He moved to Arkansas and in the late 1880's moved to Texas.

Morris S. Oliver Born May 184-. Died 1892 buried in the Bethel Cemetery. Morris was a Confederate soldier in Company E, 22nd North Carolina Infantry Regiment. In 1863 he was captured in the retreat from the Battle of Gettysburg, Penn. and was a prisoner of war until next Spring, when an uncle, Morris H. Oliver of Indiana, took him out of prison and carried him to his home in that state, where he remained until the end of the war. He moved to Iowa and after spending one year there moved to Weight Co., Missouri where he bought land settled on the Gasconade River.

William John Paden Born, (1846 Ala.? 1844 Tenn.) Died 1921. Hillcrest Cemetery. He lived Ash Flat, Sharp County, Arkansas before the war. He went to Alabama to visit relatives when the war broke out, while there he was conscripted by the Confederate army serving till 1865. He returned to Ash Flat after the war. In 1869 he and his family moved to a farm two miles north of Dunn, Texas co. Mo. In 1883 they moved a few miles Southwest to Mountain Grove, Mo. where he became a partner in a store and helped organize the Mountain Grove bank and was director for 30 years.

John Patterson Born 1846. He was a Confederate soldier during the war. His father, Alfred and his brothers possibly fought in the war also.

Simeon W. Phillips Simeon founded the academy in Mountain Grove, Mo. and taught there until moving to Hartville, Mo. in 1861. He joined the Missouri State Guard as Quartermaster Sgt., 3rd Mo. Battery. organized by Emmitt McDonald's Battery. Sgt. Phillips was detailed as musician at Brigade headquarters and remained on this duty during the remainder of the war. He was captured at Vicksburg, Miss. and was paroled and was

captured again at the battle of Franklin, Tenn. 1864. He is listed as living in Wright Co. Mo. in the 1870 census for Wright Co. as age 36.

Thomas Henderson Poindexter Jr. Thomas was age 20 according to the 1860 Census for Wright Co. Mo. and was born in N.C. He lived in Rail, Mo. before the war. He moved to Camden Co., Mo. and joined the Confederate army. He may have been captured and sent to Va. in a prisoner exchange. He lived in N.C. after the war until his death. He died in 1926.

Robert A. P'Pool He is listed as having paid taxes in Wright co. Mo. in 1861 and was a Confederate soldier during the war.

Robert A. Pool,Born, Jan. 16, 1841 Died Sept. 1, 1917 buried in the No. 5 cemetery. R. A.. Pool,born, 1833 died March 11, 1908 R. A.. Pool,born March 16, 1805 died Jan. 8, 1874 Robert A. Pool,age 17, born in Mo. according to the 1860 census for Wright census Robert A. Pool,age 28, born in Mo. 1860 census. John (F. ?G.) Porter He was a Confederate private living in Mansfield, Mo. in 1890.

William Rufus Prock Born 1813 in Tenn. Died 1865 in Mo. William moved to Missouri in the 1840's and was active in politics. He became a Wright County judge by Dec. 1848. In 1854 he bought land in Gasconade township. In 1856 he was appointed judge of probate. William was a Confederate soldier during the war. The Allsup gang killed William on his doorstep in 1865.

James H. Prophet. He was born in Tenn. and according to a Wright Co. Obituary he was a Confederate soldier during the war and died Jan. 17, 1921.

William B. Prophet Born, Dec 14, 1832. Died Feb. 2, 1922 buried in the Steele cemetery, Hartville, Mo. William was a private in the 3rd Mo. Cav.

Preston Quesenbury Born May 1841 in Virginia. He was a private in Company D. 54th Virginia Infantry, 9/1861 to 4/1865. Preston live in Montgomery Township, Wright Co. Mo. in 1890.

John Ramsey He was a Confederate soldier during the war and lived in McComb, Mo. in 1890.

James M. Renfrow Born 1835 in Tenn. Died 1878 buried in the Robinett cemetery. According to the 1870 census for Wright

County he was age 34 and was by occupation a farmer. During the war he was a Confederate soldier in the 14th Mo. Vol. Cav.

Arthur Rippee Born 1812-13 Clay Co. Ken. Died, 1865. Arthur was a Wright County Sheriff on April 1852 through Oct. 1852, Nov. 1853 and 1854. He was a Confederate soldier during the war. In 1865 he was called out of his house at night and was shot and killed by Union irregulars or Renegades.

Cyrus Rippee Born 1824 in Ken. Died 1864. Cyrus came to Wright County in a wagon train composed mainly of Rippee, Todd and Newton families. He opened up land in Gasconade (1850) and (Boone) townships. He was a Confederate soldier during the war and was killed by Union soldiers. Threw his body in a sinkhole on a farm which was owned by Lee Austin. Cannon Claxton took a wagon and team and brought his body out. Two stories have been handed down about his killing. One that he was bushwhacked for his clothes and one that he was bushwhacked for a team and wagon with which he was hauling grain back to his unit. He is buried about a mile North of Jerk Tail, in Wright County.

Elias Rippee Born July 5, 1843, Died March 31, 1913 buried in the Mansfield city cemetery. He was a Confederate soldier in Company F, 16th Ga. Vol's (Company F, 16th Mo. Cav?). He lived in Mansfield, Mo. 1890.

Irvin Rippee Born April 1, 1840 Mo. Age 20 according to the 1860 census for Wright Co. Mo. Irvin was a Confederate private serving in Company A, 8th Mo. Inf., Parson's Regiment.

James Rippee Born 1814 Clay Co. Ken. Died 1880 He was a Confederate soldier during the war.

John Rippee Born 1809 N.C., Died April 1866. He was a Confederate soldier during the war.

Harrison Green Rippee Born Dec. 17, 1838 Pulaski Co., Mo. Died Aug. 5, 1905 buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. According to the 150th Anniversary History and Families of Wright Co., Mo. Page 515, Harrison served in the Confederate Army, probably early in the war. Although he served in the Union army, Judge Fyan granted him relief from political disability owing to sympathy with the Confederate army. He was a justice of the peace in 1902 and belonged to the Rayborn Odd Fellows Lodge in Wright Co. Mo.

Hiram Rippee Born, 1804 N.C. Died 1870. He was a Confederate soldier.

Moses F. Rippee Born July 8, 1833 Died Dec. 22, 1913 buried in the Mansfield city cemetery. Moses was a Confederate soldier in Company L, 1st Mo. Cav. Vol.'s 8/1862 to 6/1865.

William Rippee Born, 1800 in N.C. Died 1864. William was a Confederate private in Company A, 8th Mo. Inf. He was killed at Elk Creek, Mo. in 1864. It is possible that he rode with Duke Sumner's guerrillas.

Thompson D. Robertson Born, March 24, 1828 in Tenn. Died, May 26, 1899 buried in the Friendship Cemetery Thompson lived in Alabama in 1855. He served in the Confederate army from 1863 to 1865. He moved from Alabama through Tenn. and settled in Southern Illinois. working as a cabinet and wagon maker. In the early 1870, he moved to Wright Co. Mo. where he homesteaded a 160 acre farm at the Northwest corner of Dawson, Mo.

Green Wilson Salsman Born Dec. 28, 1842. Died 1940 buried in the Simmons cemetery. He served 4 years in the Confederate army.

Peter Sanders Born Feb. 9, 1818 in Tenn. He enlisted in the Missouri State Guard Aug. 5, 1863. He was in Company E, 3rd Regiment (Burbridge's Mo. Vol. Cav.)

Alen Secrist Born June 8, 1839 in North Carolina. Died, Feb. 1, 1918 buried at Hillcrest cemetery. He was a Confederate Soldier during the war. He lived in Mountain Grove, Mo. between 1890 and 1918.

Charles King Shannon Born March 1836 Ind. buried in the Lone Star Cemetery. Charles was a Confederate soldier during the war serving with the 4th Missouri Cav. He fought in the battle of Wilson's Creek Aug. 10, 1861 and was wounded in the head in the battle of Lone Jack, Mo. Aug. 1862. He rode with Col. William Quantrill for a short time. He entered the Confederate army in Atchison Co. Mo. in 1862. Applied for a pension March 5, 1917 from Wright Co.

Levi Fletcher Shaver Born May 1847-6 in Ark. Died, Dec 20, 1926 buried in the Little Creek Cemetery. He was a Confederate soldier in Co. K, 8th Mo. Cav.

Joel F. Short Born Jan 30, 1847 Union Co., Kentucky. Died June 6, 1921. He is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Mountain Grove, Mo. At the age of 15 he enlisted in Company D 21 Tennessee Volunteer Infantry in Webster Co., KY in 1863. He fought in the battle of Slaughter Slaughterville, Ken. Sept. 3, 1862 under William Hollis and later under Gen. John Morgan in the Cav.

Russell J. Sikes Born March 20, 1827 North Carolina, Died March 16, 1902 buried in the Wynne Cemetery. Russell left North Carolina in 1846 and migrated to Wayne Co, Tenn. In 1851 he and his family moved to Red River Township, Searcy Co., Ark. when he farmed. In Nov. 1861 he was ordered into Company G, 45th Ark. Militia in Searacy County by Col. Sam Leslie to suppress a secret organization opposed to the war. He served only one month. He later joined the Union army, Co. E. 2nd Cav. at Dardanelle, Ark. July 12, 1863. After the war he returned to Ark. and began farming. He left Ark. in 1868 and moved to Wolf Creek, Mo., Wright Co. He joined the G.A.R., Joseph H. Mower Post No. 436 at. Hartville, Mo. Sources say he was buried wearing his Civil War uniform with his sword at his side.

George Smith He is listed as having paid taxes in Wright Co., Mo. in 1861 and was a Confederate soldier.

George W. Smith, age 22 and born in N.C. according to the Wright Co. census 1860

G. A. Smith, age 25 and born in Ark. according to the 1860 census for Wright Co. Samuel Love Smith Born July 4, 1843 in Paris, Tenn. Died April 18, 1920 buried in Alvin, Texas. Samuel was a Confederate soldier joining the army at age 18 with his brother in Missouri. He lived in Hartville, Mo. after the war and was a methodist circuit preacher. He married Lucretia Forrester. It was told that Lucretia's father, Wesley Forrester, did not like the idea of his daughter marrying a Rebel. Sometime between 1880 and 1882 they moved to Granbury, Texas.

William Marion Smith William was a Confederate soldier serving in company A. He lived in McComb, Mo. in 1890.

John Anderson Southard Born Dec. 1841 Tenn. Died Jan. 1917. John was age 18 in the 1860 Census of Wright Co. Missouri. During the war the Southard family was burned out by Jayhawkers. They lived on a farm East of Russ, Mo. in Laclede Co. John and brothers Thomas, Gillum, Alfred, and George joined and rode with Col. Quantrill's guerrillas. Thomas was killed by a Union Cav. patron in Maries Co., Mo. Alfred was age 39 in the 1860 Census of Wright Co., Mo and was born in North Carolina. James was 16 in the 1860 Census of Wright Co. Mo. and was born in Tenn.

Handsel Elliott Spence Born Feb. 17, 1842 in North Carolina. Died, 1864 in La. He is listed in the 1860 census for Wright County. Handsel enlisted as a private in Company A, 5th Regiment, Confederate Inf. July 17, 1862 in Wright Co. Mo. and on April 9, 1864 was wounded at the battle of Pleasant Hill, La. and died from his wounds.

Overton Hart Steger Born Oct. 28, 1840 Died, Sept. 1942. Enlisted in the Cumberland Greys in Cumberland County, Virginia April 11, 1861 of which was attached to the 21st Va. Regiment.

Polk Stephens.

He lived near the present town of Mountain Grove, Mo. He rode with Duke Sumner's Confederate guerrillas and was killed by Sumner in 1862.

J. W. Stewart. He was a Confederate private in Company B, 4th Mo. Cav. He surrendered in La. in 1865. A Joseph Steward in listed in the 1880 census for Wright Co. Mo. age 67 and born in Ireland.

Stephen Stigall Born Jan. 12, 1836-7 Marion County, Tenn. Died Jan 6, 1917. Buried in Coon Creek Cemetery. Stephen served in the Civil WAr in Tennessee and Alabama on both sides, first as a Confederate. He came to Missouri and settled other side of Hartville, Mo. He helped build the Coon Creek Baptist Church.

William B. Stone Born Oct. 1844. William is listed in 1860 Census for Wright Co. Mo. age 29 and born in Tenn. He was a Confederate soldier during the war and lived in Mountain Grove, Mo. in 1890. He applied for a pension in Oct.. 3, 1913 at age 77.

Andrew Jackson Summers Born June 26, 1844, Gap Mills, Monroe Co. Virginia. Died March 1, 1918. He is buried in the Hartville

Cemetery. Andrew attended V.M.I. in Virginia. He was a Confederate soldier during the war enlisting as a drillmaster under Gen. "Stonewall" Jackson. He was a Capt., later Col. Newspaper Clipping Col. Andrew Jackson Summers after an active and useful life of 73 years and over, passed to his final reward Friday morning at his home at 808 S. Ninth street, Mena, Ark. The end came to Colonel Summers very suddenly. Though he complained during the night of being unwell. that morning when he first arose he was happy and contented, but about 8 o'clock, when out in the yard doing some small chores, he fell as though stricken with apoplexy, and did not regain consciousness. Colonel Summers was born at Gap Mill, Monroe Co. Va., June 26, 1844, and was therefore 73 years 8 months and 6 days old at the time of his death. A few weeks ago he had suffered intensely with excessive blood pressure, but had apparently recovered and as late as Thursday was able to be downtown. Short funeral services, conducted by Rev. F. F. Harrell, were held at the residence Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. After which the remains were taken to Hartville, Mo. where final services and interment took place.

Duke Sumner Died 1877 in Randolph Co. Ark. He served in the Osage Regiment of Home Guards with his father, Issac, on July 1, 1861 to Dec. 6, 1861 under Capt. J. D. Hurst at Linn Creek, Camden Co. Mo. later serving in the Mo. State Guard in the first year of the war and returned home to get caught up in the confusion and desperation of the conflict, forming a gang of about 50 men and riding the countryside. Among his guerillas were Henry Eaton, Dock Wright, William Malony, Bill Cannefax and Bill Rippee. They attacked James Spark's house, and fired at the owner. He was a Union soldier. In 1862 Duke killed his pal, Polk Stephens, who had grown tired of chasing around the area, and gotten interested in a girl whom they both loved. Duke moved South to Randolph Co. Ark. and was killed there in 1877.

Robert Preston Todd Robert lived in Ozark Co., Mo. in 1841 and was later a prosperous farmer near Fox Creek and served twice as Wright Co. sheriff. He joined the Confederate army in Hartville, Mo. Feb. 21, 1862 and his family moved to Fulton Co., Ark. He was discharged at Camp White Bluff, Ark., Feb. 22, 1863. Robert served for one year with Musser's 8th Battalion, Mo. Vol's (8th Mo. Inf.). He became associated with Gov. Sterling Price. In 1862 he was captured in the skirmish at Mountain Grove, Mo. in which Robert and other Confederates were taken prisoner and taken to Lebanon, Mo. and confined in a jail there. It was reported by Union Col. George E. Waring, 4th Mo. Cav., Commander of the post at Lebanon, that Preston Todd was a "Union" candidate for the State Convention. Robert's son, Thomas, was killed in the Confederate army in 1865 at Hartville Mo. After the war it is believed that Robert returned to Wright Co., Mo. in 1880.

Thomas Todd, pvt., Co. D, 16th Mo. Cav. Rev. Thomas Todd, Born, March 28, 1845 Died 1938 fought under Gen. Sanburn in the Cav. during the war.

Thomas Todd, 8th Mo. Cav. Thomas Todd Born, 1848, died 1865. Thomas joined the Confederate army in 1865 at age 17, and was killed 30 days later, six miles West of Hartville, Mo. on the Reece farm.

Benjamin Upton Born, Aug. 25, 1845-6 in Tenn. Died Aug. 5, 1904 buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery. He was a Confederate soldier during the war. He lived in Mountain Grove, Mo. in 1890.

Alen Vaugh or Vaughn Alen was a Confederate private in the Cav., Company B. enlisting 8/1862 to 10/18/1862. He was a prisoner for 17 months at Look out Mountain, Delaware. Not discharged, paroled. Lived in Norwood, Mo. in 1890

William Julius Webb II Born March 1843 in Tenn. William lived in the Grove Springs area in Wright Co. Mo. he is listed in the 1860 Census for Wright Co. as age 18. He was a Confederate soldier in Company A, 8th Mo. Inf. Reg. He was paid transportation home from Alexandria to Baton Rouge June 7, 1865 "William J. II fought in the Civil War for the South, NO. 429 Alexandria, Louisiana. "A" company. 8th Regiment, Missouri Infantry. First Brigade and was paid transportation from Alexandria to Baton Rouge June 7, 1865 then on to Laclede County, Missouri and home. After his drew a monthly pension of $12.00

Presley Whitaker A.J.M.P. Whitaker is listed in the 1860 census for Wright Co. Mo. as being age 26 and born in Ind. Presley was a Confederate soldier in company A. 5th Mo. In. He died of disease 4/28/1863 in Grand Gulf, Miss.

Eli T. Williams Born April 1846 in Alabama. Eli was a Confederate soldier during the war. He lived in Mountain Grove, Mo. in 1890.

J. H. Wilson Confederate soldier, entered the army at Monroe county, Tenn. in 1862. He applied for a pension in 1913.

T. B. Wilson He enlisted in the Confederate army at Mnt. Ida, Ark. in 1862. He lived in Manes, Mo. when he applied for a pension on Aug. 27, 1913 at age 72

Minus Woods He lived in Union township in Wright Co. Mo. and was a Confederate soldier during the war.

Julian Frazier Wynne Born, 1841, died Nov. 1882. He is buried in the Wynne Cemetery near Hartville, Mo. Julian moved with his father from Dyersburg, Tenn. in 1860 to Hartville, Mo. At this time he made a crop with his father in 1861. He moved to Arkansas during the war returning to Wright County, Mo. after the war ended. In 1862 Julian joined Col. Julian Frazier, his mother's brother in the Confederate army. He remained in the army until the end of the war. He subsequently joined Capt. Frank Austin's Company in Freeman's Brigade, later with Gen. Marmaduke. In 1864 he went on the raid with Gen. Price and fought at Pilot Knob, Little Blue, Big Blue and on into Tennessee with the Volunteers. He was with Gen. M. Jeff Thompson. When in June of 1865 he received a discharge at Jacksport, Ark. Julian's younger brother, William, only 16, was conscripted into the Union army. Julian's wife, Julia Ann, while living in Ark., Union soldiers had threatened to burn her home 3 times during the war. Once her mother's life was saved when a soldier, ready to shoot the lady, discovered a masonic apron in the house.

James Young James was a Confederate soldier who was killed at Elk Creek, Mo.

Robert F. Young Enlisted in the Confederate army in Murphy, N.C. in 1862. He lived in Mansfield, Mo. when he applied for a pension on Aug. 12, 1913 at age 74
