ADAPTIVE SWIMMING LESSONS – Continues this winter! Registration for all adaptive programs to be completed with Aquatics Supervisor, Alyssa Heffernan (705) 748-1432 for information, availability and session dates. Note: Openings for Private or Semi-Private lessons may been available. Flexible timeframes could also be an option.

ADAPTIVE INTRO TO SWIM (ages 4 – 6 years) This program is designed to assist children with special needs, to feel comfortable in the pool. Facilitated by Trent AC swimming instructors and volunteers, Intro to Swim will include an introduction to the basics of swimming. Participants will have the opportunity to practice floats, glides, tows, underwater orientation and skill development. This program will take place in both the warm therapy and 25 m pools. Ratio of two participants to one staff/volunteer. Wednesdays 5:00 —5:30 pm Members: $72 Non-members: $90 ADAPTIVE SWIM SKILLS (ages 7 –12 years) This program is for youth with special needs who would like to improve their swimming skills in a group and comfortable atmosphere. This program will take place in the 25 m pool. Ratio of two participants to one staff/volunteer. Participants will work together with their instructors to set goals and will work towards reaching those goals. Wednesdays 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm Members: $72 Non-members: $90

PLAY ON! WINTER 2015 PROGRAMMING All Play On! PARASPORT sessions will be led by parasport or Paralympic athlete ambassadors or coaches. In many cases, ambassadors will share how they acquired their disability, how they became active in their sport, their unique successes and why they love their sport. And best of all, this groundbreaking program will be offered at no charge to Toronto residents for the first year! Families are invited to drop in to the school gym to play with the equipment, do a craft or play games. Children are encouraged to bring their friends along! Saturdays dates are as follows; January 31, February 28, March 28, April 25, May 30 and June 27, 2015 from 2:30 – 4:00 Learn to Skate Village Arena, 100 Church Street North, Ajax ON Small group, specialized lessons geared for your beginner skater on the spectrum! Sundays, January 18 to March 1, 2015 – 12:00-1:00 pm $50.00 per child + payment processing fees Join us for a fun and safe way to learn to skate. Participants will be put into small groups of no more than five for specialized instruction. The program runs for 7 weeks and we request that you commit to attending as many as possible. Skaters are required to have a hockey helmet with a facemask, sharpened skates and be dressed warmly, including gloves or mittens and snow pants. Parents are required to participate and should have a helmet, sharpened skates, and skating experience. Please contact [email protected] if you need a volunteer to support your child on the ice.

Autism Ontario - Peterborough - Port Hope Model Railway Show February 7, 2015 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM This is an opportunity for a child or youth on the autism spectrum, and their family to come out and enjoy private access to the Model Railway Show. Children and youth with ASD will be provided with a welcome package including a wooden train whistle, railway safety package as well as a snack. Registrants will receive free admission pre-show and will be permitted to stay free of charge once the show opens. Show hours for the public are from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend this event.
