UPDATES FOR 2016  New name, more funds, better focus  $330,000 available to nonprofit groups across Arizona in 2016 – more than doubling the amount awarded last year  Seeking increased impact in focus areas  Just part of nearly $2 million in funding and support that TEP and UES will provide to our communities in 2016

2016 GRANTS TIMELINE • June 1, 2016 Grant application and guidelines available • June 27, 5 p.m. Early bird submissions due. Submissions received will be final and one entry will be drawn at random for a $1,000 award. Early bird status will not affect the final grant award process • July 27, 5 p.m. DEADLINE: Grant submissions will close at 5 p.m. MST • July — September Committees review grants, notify applicants and present funds to selected organizations

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY • Be a nonprofit with tax-exempt status from the IRS and in good standing with all regulatory agencies • Operate and provide services in TEP/UES territories and/or the White Mountain community • Submit the grant application into one of the focus areas • Leverage other grants/funds or volunteers, involve collaboration with another nonprofit organization • Provide evidence of fiscal stability and a way to measure the success of the proposed program • Be incorporated for at least three years, with solid audited financial history • Relate the program in the grant request directly to the organization's mission

INELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING •

Capital campaigns, fundraisers, sponsorships, multi-year funding, and endowment requests



Submissions from government agencies or schools. However, associated parent-teacher organizations or foundations may apply



Faith-based organizations with a religious requirement for program eligibility are not eligible. Social service programs provided by a church or faith-based organization are eligible



Programs where funds will be used outside of TEP’s or UES’ service territories

FOCUS AREAS • Community Assistance/Limited Income: programs and services for underserved members of the community including but not limited to at-risk persons, homelessness, domestic violence, poverty, foster care, child abuse prevention/treatment, etc. • Education: programs and activities that support pre-K through 12th grade, including but not limited to classroom resources and field trips, teacher assistance, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) activities, etc. (Individual schools not eligible) • Environment/Sustainability: local or statewide programs and projects that support efforts to protect and preserve our air, land, water and wildlife habitat

REVIEW PROCESS • All applications are screened by our Community Investment team for eligibility before being sent out to regional committees for review • Each regional committee will score the grant applications and select successful submissions • TEP and UES reserves the right to fund all, none, or part of any grant application, based on merit. Our decisions are final • Funding for Community Impact Grants will be available once per year per organization • Requests for funding over multiple years will not be considered • Multiple grant applications per organization will not be considered within the same service area (For example, two grant requests from the same organization for Pima County projects will not be considered. However, an organization can make one grant request in Pima County and another in Santa Cruz County during the same year. Requests by one organization in multiple service areas are permitted, as long as the funding will be applied in those different locations.

FUNDING AVAILABLE Coconino County: $15,000. Minimum grant: $1,000 Navajo County: $5,000. Minimum grant: $1,000 Mohave County: $30,000. Minimum grant: $1,000 Springerville

Pima County and White Mountain/Springerville: $250,000 Minimum grants: $5,000 in Pima County $1,000 in White Mountain/Springerville Santa Cruz County: $15,000. Minimum grant: $1,000 Yavapai County: $15,000. Minimum grant:$1,000

APPLICATIONS AND SCORING • All applications must be submitted online • You can start and save an application several times before submitting the final • There is a score sheet that you can download to see exactly how the committees will be reviewing the application

HELPFUL HINTS • Log on ASAP to review the application questions • Follow the steps in the online process • Gather the requested information that you will need to upload • Be brief, yet as specific as possible when answering the questions
