Come Tour the Holy Land

“The Holy Land Trip is a unique experience, more of a pilgrimage than anything. People from all over the world are present exploring their faith and walking in the footsteps of the people of the Bible. It all comes to life; the biblical stories, the people, the land, the challenging political realities, and your faith. You will marvel at the Temple Mount and the remarkable engineering and architectural accomplishments. There is no better classroom for your faith. Join us for an adventure of a lifetime.” – Pastor Jeff O’Grady

"We arrived in Israel as individuals with a variety of expectations. We returned united

in the spiritual experience of having walked in the footsteps of Christ. The bond between MVGH and SMCC has been strengthened by this journey."

Holy Land Tour 2016 San Marino Community Church & Monte Vista Grove Homes This is a general itinerary of events. The itinerary is subject to adjustment by Pastor O’Grady and tour staff as required for holiday events, driving conditions and weather.

Saturday, February 20 – Los Angeles – Tel Aviv Transfer to airport provided by Monte Vista Grove Homes. Depart from Los Angeles on your overnight flight to Israel. Sunday, February 21 – Tel Aviv Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv is the second largest city in Israel and is a well-known international business, banking and finance center. It is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the Middle East. There will be a brief orientation meeting after dinner. Dinner will be available in the hotel. (D) Monday, February 22 – Tel Aviv, Caesarea, Carmel, Megiddo, Nazareth, Tiberius; Today is your first full day of touring and travel in Israel. You will visit sites between the coast and the Galilee area on your way to Tiberius. Your first stop is Caesarea Maritima, former capital of the Roman province of Judea, the 3rd most important seaport in all of the Roman Empire, and the place from which Paul made his appeal to Caesar. Time and the hand of man have not been kind to the city, but the ruins are well presented, including the amphitheater, the hippodrome, and the foundations of Herod’s palace. It is a strong testament to the influence of Herod and the Romans during the life of Jesus and the Apostles. From Caesarea you will travel via Carmel, the site of the Prophet Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal. From there it is on to Tel Megiddo, the archeological site overlooking the striking Jezreel Valley, also known as the Valley of Armageddon. Megiddo is a jewel in the crown of biblical archaeology. Strategically perched above the most important land route in the ancient Near East, the city dominated international traffic for over 6,000 years. As civilizations came and went, succeeding settlements at ancient Megiddo were built on the ruins of their predecessors, creating a multi-layered archaeological legacy that abounds in treasures that include monumental temples, lavish palaces, mighty fortifications, and remarkably engineered water systems. One of the discoveries when traveling in the Holy Land is the relation of the cities mentioned in the Bible one with another. This afternoon there is yet another significant New Testament city along our route, Nazareth with a customary visit to the Basilica of Annunciation sitting a top ancient site. Your hotel for the next three nights will in be Tiberius, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. (B, L, D)

Tuesday, February 23 – Tiberius, Hazor, Dan, Caesarea Philippi, Banias, Tiberius After breakfast depart for Hazor, the largest archeological site in Israel outside of Jerusalem covering some 200 acres. It was a regional power center for the north. Hazor is said to have been the site of one of Joshua's most important victories in the Israelites' conquest of the Promised Land. It is also mentioned in connection with the battles of the Israelites led by Deborah and Barak. Traveling to the far north of modern Israel you will visit the ancient northern Israelite capitol of Dan. You will take a walk through the lush vegetation of the modern park and visit the ancient city. It is here as a visitor you can explore King Jeroboam’s temple, which the Bible indicates he established to house the golden calf and challenge the temple in Jerusalem for religious supremacy. It was here that Bronze Age inhabitants constructed the world’s oldest known gated archway more than 1500 years before the Romans supposedly invented the arch. After recharging your batteries with lunch at a local kibbutz you will visit the ruins of ancient Caesarea Philippi and Banias Springs, the site of another memorable New Testament story. En route to the hotel is the Yigal Alon Center with the preserved first century fishing boat, no doubt like the one used by the disciples and Jesus - seeing this remarkable find adds to your understanding of ancient times. From here you will go out onto the Lake of Gennesaret (Sea of Galilee), the lowest freshwater lake on Earth but significant as the site of many Biblical accounts. (B, L, D) Wednesday, February 24 – Tiberius, Migdal, Capernaum, Korazim, Zippori, Tiberius After breakfast you will travel just to the north of Tiberius to Migdal, a city named for the old city of Migdala Nunia (fish tower), home of Mary of Magdala – the very recently opened excavation here has revealed a early first century synagogue. Moving around the perimeter of the Sea of Galilee the next visit to the ruins of Capernaum a site rich in New Testament history, where you will see, among other things, the foundation of two synagogues – one on top of another and church which is said to be the home of Peter. Once again, the site of important New Testament interactions with Jesus. Continue on to the ruins of Korazim one of a pair of cities cursed by Jesus for not believing in him. Discovering the layout of first century Judea will be enriched with an afternoon visit to Zippori (Sepphoris) located in central Galilee just over 3 miles from Nazareth. The site holds a rich and diverse historical and architectural legacy that includes Hellenistic, Jewish, Roman, Byzantine, Islamic, Crusader, Arabic and Ottoman influences. (B, L, D) Thursday February 25 – Tiberius, Beit She’an Qumran, Jericho, Jerusalem Board your coach for your trip south to Jerusalem. First stop is Beit She’an an Egyptian and Canaanite stronghold, dramatically situated where it looks out over the Jordan Valley and commands the upper end of the Jezreel. From earliest times, this region has been a strategic

crossroads linking the Mediterranean coast with Transjordan, and the southern part of Israel with the Syro-Mespotamian world. Some four thousand years of history have been traced at Beit She’an, making it one of the important archaeological sites in Israel. Many of the remains date from the Roman period and document the impact of the earthquake that destroyed the city. As you head south in the Jordan River Valley we continue to descend in altitude northern edge of the Dead Sea to visit Qumran where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden for two millennia. While visiting the ruins of what is thought to be an ancient Essene village you will view the caves from the vista point. Afterwards you will have lunch in the nearby cafeteria as well as some time for a little shopping at the Dead Sea products gift shop (think ‘famous’ Ahava mud). The road up to Jerusalem will allow a detour for a late afternoon visit to Jericho, the site allows you to reflect on another Biblical account - the Israelite’s conquering of the land of Canaan. You will experience fist hand the significant vertical gain as the coach climbs from well below Sea Level to the hills of Judea cradling Jerusalem. (B, L, D) Friday, February 26 – Jerusalem Your first full day in Jerusalem begins with a trip to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the city from this renowned location mentioned in the New Testament. From here it is a short drive to the site of the Garden of Gethsemane. You will then descend to the Old City, which is divided into its Jewish, Christian, Armenian, and Arabs quarters. Starting in the Arab quarter to view the pool of Bethesda, you will walk the Via Dolorosa (Latin for “Way of Grief” or “Way of Suffering”) a street within the Old City of Jerusalem, held to be the path that Jesus walked, carrying his cross, on the way to his crucifixion. Afterwards you will tour the church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Garden Tomb – both locations believed at various times to be the site of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. (B, L, D) Saturday, February 27 – Jerusalem After an early breakfast and departure you’ll head east to the northern end of the Dead Sea then turn south towards the stronghold of Masada. Masada was a palace that Herod enlarged to serve as a hideaway if needed. In the end, it was used during the Jewish revolt by the Zealots as their last stand. The defenders had chosen suicide over the inevitable Roman slavery. It serves as a symbol of resistance and desire for freedom. A tram ride will take you to the top to explore the site. And when you come down from the mountaintop you will have time to visit the new museum and visitor’s center to enjoy a nice lunch selection in welcome air-conditioned comfort. From Masada you will visit the En Gedi Spa. It will be your chance to see and experience for yourself the lowest point on earth ― the Dead Sea – 1320 feet below sea level. Because of the Sea’s high mineral content you’ll get your chance for a photo op to float in the Sea’s salty and oily water. (B, D)

Sunday, February 28 – Jerusalem Sunday morning church services will be at St. Andrews Church in Jerusalem. Afterward you will head to the Israel Museum where for a relaxing lunch before setting out with your guide to discover the first century scale model of Jerusalem, the Book of the Shrine (repository for the Dead Sea Scrolls), and the antiquities collection of the Israel Museum – housing original artifacts from across the land of Israel. The museum holds a large archaeological section, and a Judaica section. The Judaica section features four rebuilt synagogues from places around the world. A dinner will be at a restaurant near the Jaffa Gate allowing you some personal shopping time inside the old city wall before the evening Light and Sound Show inside the Citadel (seating and admission is included). (B, L, D) Monday, February 29 – Jerusalem After breakfast you will proceed to the City of David archeological site. Recent excavations at the site have yielded a large, (possible) administrative building from the time of King David. It attests to the power of the city at that time, and the organizational abilities of its government You will don your water shoes and head for the entrance at Hezekiah’s tunnel. This tunnel was built to bring the water of the Gihon spring inside the walls of the city. Flashlights are needed and you will get wet - up to your knees usually or higher if you are short! It is a 45-minute trek on even terrain. Your exploration continues with a visit to the Davidson Temple Wall Excavation Center to see the southern temple wall exposure up close. Afterwards you will have some free time in the Jewish Quarter to explore and to find a snack for lunch. We will schedule an afternoon appointment to visit the nearby Temple Institute to see current replicas of Temple Period service pieces. From here head down the steps to the renowned Western Wall – the last remnant of the Temple. You will have time to visit the complex prior to entering the Kotel - the Hebrew word for western wall. Descend into the Tunnel excavation to explore the Herodian Temple expansion. See how it was constructed and realize the former grandeur of the structure. The tunnel runs the full length of the Western Wall of the Temple Mount. (B, D)

Tuesday, March 1 – Jerusalem Today you will depart early to ascend to the Temple Mount complex, currently home to the AlAqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock monument. The site's significance stems from religious traditions regarding the rock, known as the Foundation Stone, at its heart, which bears great significance for Jews, Christians, and Muslims. The Dome of the Rock is the most recognizable site in Jerusalem. The Al-Aqsa Mosque literally means the Farthest Mosque and is the third holiest site in Islam. From here continue on to the Palestinian city of Bethlehem on the West Bank. Here we will see the Church of the Nativity. This building is the oldest standing church in the Holy Land. Originally built by Constantine's mother in the 4th century, Emperor Justinian rebuilt the current structure in the 530s. Long lines and construction will affect what is actually viewed on any given day. A number of nearby shops offer modern expressions of the ancient scene. After exiting Bethlehem you will head back into Jerusalem for personal time and a farewell dinner. (B, L, D) Wednesday, March 2 – Jerusalem Departure to your Home City A mid morning group departure is scheduled. Enjoy your final breakfast in Jerusalem as you bid farewell to the Holy Land. Return transfer from LAX to San Marino provided by Monte Vista Grove Homes.(B)

Each tour participant will be notified once the minimum number is reached. INCLUDED: The inclusive land program services include hotel accommodations (priced on a twin/double occupancy basis, with a supplement for single occupancy which is limited to inventory by the hotel), inclusive of service and tax, ground transportation (as outlined) via private air-conditioned coach, but may exclude airport transfers if not traveling with the group arrival and departure times. Typical local breakfast is included at the hotels. Lunches and dinners as outlined in the itinerary, will be provided in local restaurants, hotels or stops of our choosing. Entrance fees are included as outlined in the itinerary currently provided. Gratuities for tour guides and drivers have been included per the itinerary. NOT INCLUDED: Optional tours and admission fees to other tour sites not mentioned, meals not specifically mentioned in the itinerary, additional transportation not outlined in the itinerary, and other items, e.g. laundry, personal items, and incidentals. Voluntary nonusage of any service is non-refundable and non-exchangeable. AIRFARE: The taxes and fuel surcharges are not guaranteed on group or individual fares until ticketed. Once the air ticket (home city and international) is issued (purchased) the rules and conditions of the airline apply. Group air schedule and airfare from the airline will be provided to the traveler. Group air is subject to the rules and tariffs of the specific air carrier and only valid with a minimum of 10

passengers booked. Should the group fall below this minimum prevailing fares will be provided for the travelers consideration. Travel Gallery Inc. is not responsible to provide an airfare equal to the amount of the group airfare price should the group at any time prior to ticketing fall below the minimum. We will advise of these conditions when the pricing and schedule are available. Group space may or may not be available at the time of booking depending on airline review and release dates. You will be advised at the time of booking if group space at the price listed is available. When “group air” is utilized the ticketing date is usually 90 days in advance of travel. Should the traveler or Travel Gallery elect to make use of air reservations, which are not from “group air” and require ticketing earlier, the amount of the air ticket will become due when issued. This may advance the payment schedule as outlined. Non Group international airfare - we like to assist travelers in comparing the group air price with individual airfares offered in local markets to/from Israel. These fares will require payment as specified by our advisors. Home City airfare may be required from a city closer to your home. It is typically nonrefundable from the time of purchase. These fares are not transferable and are governed solely by the airline rules and tariff. An add-on airfare may be offered by the international air carrier and the cost of which will be quoted and the additional amount will be due with final balance. If an add-on airfare is not available then it will be necessary to purchase a separate air ticket from your home city. Payment for this airfare will be due on the date specified by our advisors. International Airfare: The typical fuel surcharge of $150-300 each direction may be changed up until ticketing just like the taxes. While the fuel surcharge has stayed somewhat constant, the potential for a change is still a reality both for group and individual fares. Note: If you are NOT utilizing the group air provided with the program you will be responsible for all change fees, cancellation fees, mileage ticket change fees, mileage re-deposit fees or expenses of any kind associated with other air arrangements whether ticketed with Travel Gallery Inc. or arranged by traveler if there should be any changes to the dates or arrangements in the tour itinerary for any reason. These fees may be covered by insurance. DO NOT MAKE ALTERNATE AIR ARRANGEMENTS ON YOUR OWN UNTIL THE TOUR HAS REACHED THE OPERATING MINIMUM AND YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF SUCH. Airline Baggage Charges for domestic or international flights apply to this program and are NOT included in the cost of these air or land arrangements. CHILDREN: There will be a limitation on minor children on this program. The hotel rooms are small and do not easily accommodate triples or quadruple occupancy. Therefore it will be necessary for families with children to purchase an additional room and an adult will be required to be in the room with minor children for obvious safety reasons. No children rates are available as they fill a bed space, coach seat, and meal space. An infant will be addressed when requested. HEALTH CONSIDERATION, CURRENTLY UNDER A DOCTOR’S CARE OR THOSE WITH A DISABILITIES: THIS PROGRAM INVOLVES CONSIDERABLE WALKING, AND PERSONS SHOULD BE IN GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION. Tour participants currently under a doctor’s care or those with a disability are required to notify us in writing at the time of deposit concerning all conditions such as (but not limited to) pregnancy, food allergies, chronic pain, nausea, motion sickness, mental illness, claustrophobia, heart conditions, sleep apnea, difficulty with walking, climbing stairs, considering a hip or knee replacement, heavy doses of medication or any condition that would affect full participation in the program. SPECIAL CONDITIONS CONCERNING MIDDLE EAST:

Travel Gallery, Inc. is providing a link to the current U.S. State Department travel advisory (warning) on travel to Israel. All passengers should read this notice prior to depositing for the tour. What if the destination is deemed “unsafe”? There is no official rating by the U.S. government which would declare a destination “unsafe”. The U.S. State Department updates travel advisories for international destinations with information that allows individuals to decide for themselves. (See US State Department Links provided on our website or available on the internet.) The state department advisory typically addresses the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This program will transit though the Jordan valley and thus go through the West Bank. However, the West Bank cities or the Gaza Strip are not featured in our planned itinerary. Following is a link to the latest travel advisory on Israel from the U.S. Department of State: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings/israel-travelwarning.html. Participants are required to read that advisory before making a deposit. We continue to monitor activities in Israel for new information in advance of the journey. It is our view at this time, from past experience that it is unlikely the U.S. Government will issue a severe warning requiring your consideration of cancellation. Travel Gallery does not offer any insurance that would allow you or us to cancel the trip due to general safety concerns and provide a full or partial refund. If you were to decide to cancel the trip for any reason such as but not limited to your concern for regional or general travel safety the terms and conditions remain applicable, including all cancellation penalties of Travel Gallery, airlines, hotels or other services as outlined in this notice or advised at the time of purchase. Israel Travel Warning

Israel, The West Bank and Gaza Travel Warning LAST UPDATED: FEBRUARY 18, 2015 The security environment remains complex in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza, and U.S. citizens need to be aware of the continuing risks of travel to these areas, particularly to areas described in this Travel Warning where there are heightened tensions and security risks. The security situation can change day to day, depending on the political situation, recent events, and geographic area. A rise in political tensions and violence in Jerusalem and the West Bank has resulted in injuries to and deaths of U.S. citizens. In view of the ongoing security situation, the Government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority make considerable efforts to police major tourist attractions and ensure security in areas where foreigners frequently travel. Although threat mitigation efforts by authorities are not 100 percent effective, hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens safely visit Israel and the West Bank each year for study, tourism, and business. The Department of State strongly warns U.S. citizens against travel to the Gaza Strip; U.S. government employees are not allowed to conduct official or personal travel there. U.S. government personnel require special security arrangements if traveling inside Israel within seven kilometers of the Gaza demarcation line. With the exception of Jericho and Bethlehem, U.S. government employees are prohibited from personal travel to the West Bank. Due to security concerns, U.S. government employees are prohibited from using public buses throughout Israel and the West Bank, and must obtain advance approval if they wish to travel within 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) of the Lebanon border, or travel on or east of Route 98 in the Golan Heights. U.S. citizens should take into consideration the following information, including the rules governing travel in this region by U.S. government employees. This replaces the Travel Warning issued September 10, 2014. Major Metropolitan Areas Personal safety conditions in major metropolitan areas, including Tel Aviv and Haifa and surrounding regions, are comparable to other major global cities. Nonetheless, the July-August 2014 Gaza conflict (see below) and subsequent political and religious tension associated with access to the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem led to increased levels of violence, particularly in Jerusalem and West Bank environs, not seen in those areas in a decade. Attacks on individuals and groups have occurred in East and West Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Bethlehem, as well as various places in the West Bank. We have no Provided by Travel Gallery Inc.

indication that U.S. citizens have been specifically targeted based on their nationality, however U.S. citizens have been directly affected. Six U.S. citizen residents of Israel and the West Bank were killed and others injured in multiple attacks in 2014. U.S. citizens involved in or observing political demonstrations have sustained serious injuries and the Department of State recommends that U.S. citizens avoid all demonstrations for their own safety. Due to security concerns, U.S. government employees are prohibited from using public buses in Israel and the West Bank. See below for specific safety and security information regarding Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem, and near Israel’s northern borders. Travelers should be aware of the risks presented by the potential for military conflict between Hamas and Israel. During the conflict in Gaza in July and August 2014, long-range rockets launched from Gaza reached many locations in Israel and the West Bank – including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and other cities in the north and south. The Government of Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system successfully intercepted many rockets. However, missile impacts also caused deaths, injuries, and property damage. There have been additional small arms fire and mortar and rocket launches from Gaza into southern Israel on several occasions between September and December 2014 that resulted in limited property damage. Visitors to and residents of Israel and the West Bank should familiarize themselves with the location of the nearest bomb shelter or other hardened site. Consult municipality websites, such as those for Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, for locations of public bomb shelters and other emergency preparedness information. Visitors should seek information on shelters from hotel staff or building managers. We advise all U.S. citizens to take note of guidance on proper procedures in the event of rocket attacks or other crisis events by visiting the website of the government of Israel's Home Front Command. Travelers should also be aware of the heightened state of alert maintained by Israeli authorities along Israel's border with Egypt. There have been cross-border incidents from Egypt, including rocket attacks and ground incursions, such as attacks that took place in August 2013, January 20 and October 22, 2014. Rockets and mortars were launched from Sinai in the direction of Eilat and Israel’s Negev region in January, July, and August 2014. Provided by Travel Gallery Inc.

Visitors should observe appropriate personal security practices to reduce their vulnerability to crime, particularly late at night or in isolated areas, including in the countryside. Visitors are advised to avoid large gatherings or demonstrations and keep current with local news, which is available through numerous English language sources. Jerusalem U.S. citizens visiting and living in Jerusalem should be aware of the numerous political, cultural, and religious tensions that permeate the city. These sensitivities have the potential to fuel protests, civil unrest, acts of terrorism, and retaliatory attacks against groups and individuals. There have been frequent clashes between protesters and Israeli authorities, particularly in East Jerusalem neighborhoods. Travelers should be aware that protest activities and violence have occurred across Jerusalem, including in West Jerusalem, within the Old City, and in East Jerusalem neighborhoods such as Sheikh Jarrah, Shufat, Beit Hanina, Mt. of Olives, As Suwaneh, Abu Deis, Silwan, Shuafat Refugee Camp, Issawiyeh, and Tsur Baher. The intensity and number of these violent events, which have caused the deaths of bystanders, remained at high levels during October and November. Such events often increase following Temple Mount/ Haram al-Sharif access restrictions, in retaliation for random attacks, or during Israel National Police (INP) operations in predominantly Palestinian neighborhoods. The INP often deploys a heavy presence in many of the neighborhoods that have seen clashes and may restrict vehicular traffic to some of these neighborhoods without notice. U.S. citizens are advised not to enter any neighborhoods while restricted by the INP and to avoid any locations with active clashes. To date, the clashes and violence have not been anti-American in nature. However, politically motivated violence in Jerusalem claimed the lives of U.S. citizens in October and November 2014, including a terror attack inside a synagogue. Other U.S. citizens have also been injured in such attacks. Travelers are reminded to exercise caution at Muslim religious sites on Fridays and on holy days, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. The INP often imposes restrictions on visitors to the Old City’s Temple Mount/ Haram al-Sharif. Travelers should be aware that the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif is often closed without warning by the INP. U.S. government employees are prohibited from entering the Old City on Fridays during Ramadan due to congestion and security-related access restrictions. Provided by Travel Gallery Inc.

U.S. citizens are advised to avoid public parks in Jerusalem after dark, due to numerous reports of criminal activity associated with these parks. Northern Israel and Golan Heights Rocket attacks into Israel from Lebanon have occurred without warning along the Israeli-Lebanese border. Tensions have increased along portions of the Disengagement Zone with Syria in the Golan Heights as a result of the internal conflict occurring in Syria. Sporadic gunfire has occurred along the border region. There have been several incidents of mortar shells and light arms fire impacting on the Israeli-controlled side of the zone as a result of spillover from the fighting in Syria. Travelers should be aware that cross-border gunfire can occur without warning. Furthermore, there are active land mines in areas of the Golan Heights, so visitors should walk only on established roads or trails. The Syrian conflict is sporadic and unpredictable. Because of concerns about security on Israel’s northern borders, U.S. government personnel must obtain advance approval if they wish to travel within 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) of the Lebanon border, or travel on or east of Route 98 in the Golan Heights. The West Bank The Department of State urges U.S. citizens to exercise caution when traveling to the West Bank. In October 2014, a U.S. citizen teenager was killed in an encounter with Israeli security forces in Silwad, and in June 2014, three Israeli teenagers, including a dual U.S. citizen, were kidnapped and murdered by Hamas-affiliated individuals while hitchhiking near Hebron. Demonstrations and violent incidents can occur without warning, and vehicles are sometimes damaged by rocks, Molotov cocktails, and gunfire on West Bank roads. U.S citizens have been killed in such attacks in the past. There have also been an increasing number of violent incidents involving Israeli settlers and Palestinian villagers in the corridor stretching from Ramallah to Nablus, including attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian villages in which U.S. citizens have suffered injury or property damage, as well as attacks by Palestinians on settlements. U.S. citizens can be caught in the middle of potentially dangerous situations, and some U.S. citizens involved in political demonstrations in the West Bank have sustained serious injuries. The Department of State recommends that U.S. citizens avoid all demonstrations for their own safety. During periods of unrest, the Israeli government may restrict access to the West Bank, and some areas may be placed under curfew. All persons in areas under curfew should remain indoors to avoid arrest Provided by Travel Gallery Inc.

or injury. Security conditions in the West Bank may hinder the ability of U.S. government officials to offer timely assistance to U.S. citizens. Personal travel in the West Bank by U.S. government personnel and their families is permitted to the towns of Bethlehem and Jericho and on Routes 1, 443, and 90 after completing certain security procedures. The Rachel’s Tomb checkpoint between Jerusalem and Bethlehem has seen an increase in public demonstrations, which have the potential to become violent. U.S. government officials may also engage in personal travel to Qumran off Route 90 by the Dead Sea and to the Allenby Bridge crossing to Jordan, as well as stops at roadside facilities along Routes 1 and 90. All other personal travel by U.S. government personnel in the West Bank is prohibited. U.S. government personnel routinely travel to the West Bank for official business, but do so with special security arrangements. The Gaza Strip The Department of State strongly urges U.S. citizens to avoid all travel to the Gaza Strip, which is under the control of Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization. U.S. citizens in Gaza are advised to depart immediately. U.S. government U.S. citizen employees are not allowed to travel to Gaza, in either personal or professional capacities. U.S. government travel within seven kilometers of the Gaza demarcation requires special security arrangements. The security environment within Gaza, including its border with Egypt and its seacoast, is dangerous and volatile. Exchanges of fire between the Israel Defense Forces and militant groups in Gaza take place regularly, and civilians have been caught in the crossfire in the past. Since late October 2014, Egyptian authorities have closed the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt for extended periods with no indication regarding when it will reopen for normal traffic. When operating, the Rafah crossing normally allows for some passenger travel, however, prior coordination with local authorities - which could take days or weeks to process - may be required and crossing points may be closed for days or weeks. Travelers who enter the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing must also exit through the Rafah crossing, and those entering the Gaza Strip may not be able to depart at a time of their choosing. Many U.S. citizens have been unable to exit Gaza or faced lengthy delays while attempting to exit Gaza. Furthermore, the schedule and requirements for exiting through the Rafah crossing are unpredictable and can involve significant expense. The ability of U.S. government personnel to offer timely assistance to U.S. citizens, including assistance departing Gaza, is extremely limited. The Consulate General and Embassy are often unable to assist U.S. citizens to exit Gaza via the Erez Provided by Travel Gallery Inc.

crossing to Israel. U.S. citizens who choose to travel to Gaza cannot normally rely on the U.S. government to assist them in departing Gaza. Entry/Exit Difficulties Some U.S. citizens holding Israeli nationality, possessing a Palestinian identity card, or who are of Arab or Muslim origin have experienced significant difficulties in entering or exiting Israel or the West Bank. U.S. citizens planning to travel to Israel, the West Bank, or Gaza should consult the detailed information concerning entry and exit difficulties in the Country Specific Information. U.S. citizens seeking to depart Israel, the West Bank, or Gaza are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. The lack of a valid U.S. passport may hinder U.S. citizens' ability to depart the country and may slow the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General's ability to provide assistance.Travelers should check the status of border crossings before embarking on trips. Contact the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy for information and assistance in Israel, the Golan Heights, and ports of entry at Ben Gurion Airport, Haifa Port, the northern (Jordan River/Sheikh Hussein) and southern (Arava) border crossings connecting Israel and Jordan, and the border crossings between Israel and Egypt. An embassy officer can be contacted at (972) (3) 519-7575 from Monday through Friday during working hours. The after-hours emergency number is (972) (3) 519-7551. Contact the Consular Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem for information and assistance in Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge crossing between the West Bank and Jordan, at (972) (2) 630-4000 from Monday through Friday during working hours. The after-hours emergency number is (972) (2) 622-7250. For More Information The Department of State urges those U.S. citizens who live in or travel to Israel, the West Bank or Gaza to enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) in order to obtain the most current information on travel and security within Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. Enrollment in STEP makes it easier for the Embassy or Consulate General to contact U.S. citizens in case of emergency. For Provided by Travel Gallery Inc.
