Come, journey with me… PROGRAM GUIDE September 1, 2015 to February 29, 2016

Come, journey with me…

Catharine King Executive Director

This summer I am embarking on a journey with eight friends to walk the first half of El Camino de Santiago, the pilgrimage walk across northern Spain. For several months we have been planning and preparing for this journey of nearly 300 km that will take us over mountain passes and through towns and cities. Careful attention has been paid to having good footwear, comfortable packs, and to travelling light. Everything we bring we will carry on our backs. This is the second time I will make this journey, and I have some idea of what is needed to prepare. Simplicity, honesty, openness, and flexibility are some key attributes we have to pack with us. Walking day after day in nature, I discovered, is very healing for the soul. Silence and stillness allow space for inner rest, reprieve, and refreshment. While the journey is physical, it is also emotional, mental, and spiritual. Making a pilgrimage such as El Camino de Santiago is really a metaphor for our day-to-day journey of life. Our lives are a sacred journey. Now and again we have to find time to journey to a place where we can find rest for our souls. While we cannot always travel far away, we do have special places such as Providence Renewal Centre to offer such rest. Christ meets us on our journey – wherever we find ourselves – and He invites us to “come, journey with me!” We hope the programs we have planned this fall and winter will help you respond to this invitation to come on an inner journey of adventure and discovery. We look forward to journeying with you. Debbie Doornbos Program Director Cover design by Bro. Louis Andreas, OMI
