COLUMBIA THREADNEEDLE WORLD TRIATHLON LEEDS
SPECTATOR GUIDE
THE EVENT IN BRIEF The Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds, 11-12 June 2016, represents the pinnacle of triathlon competition in the UK, providing recreational triathletes with a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete on the same course as the world’s best. Following in the footsteps of the unforgettable 2014 Tour de France Grand Départ in Leeds and Yorkshire, this event is hoping to attract thousands of spectators to watch both the amateurs and the professionals – including GB's best who will be competing in their last event on home soil before Rio.
A GLOBAL SCALE
A QUICK GUIDE TO TRIATHLON
Athletes will take to the streets for the Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds to compete over the Olympic distance; from a Roundhay Park swim through to a technical city centre cycle and run.
Just in case a reminder is needed, a triathlon is a very challenging but fun event split across three disciplines: swim, bike and run.
ABU DHABI GOLD COAST CAPE TOWN YOKOHAMA LEEDS
Distances vary from beginner to sprint, all the way to Olympic distance events. In the elite competition, athletes compete to gain points, which accumulate over the ITU World Triathlon Series and decide our male and female world champions. Whatever happens, you can expect it to be fast, furious and exciting.
