COLEGIO SALESIANO SAN JUAN BOSCO EDUCACIÓN INFANTIL Sunday, the 25th of May 2014 The Swedish and the Turkish team landed on the island throughout the evening; the Austrian team had come a few days earlier. We were very pleased to be all together again and very excited to share a new “school experience”; this time in our country, Spain.

Monday, the 26th of May 2014 Once everyone had arrived at the School the first morning; we led them to the Primary classes to show them how we start the day in a “Salesianos School”; doing “Good morning dynamics” where religious concepts and the education in values are involved. After that, we had the official welcome which was held by Mr. Pedro David Yedra, the headmaster of the school, in his office; he explained the different methodologies that are being used according to the school system. Subsequently, we visited some Pre-School lessons where different projects, such as German; Sports; Music and Arts were taking place. Between the sport and the music lessons; we took a few minutes to have a snack and to see the garden of the school. Following the art class and as we had agreed in the previous meeting in Austria, we gathered to discuss about the half-time report and about how our POLO project is going according to the goals that were established when we first met in Alanya; Turkey. Then, we could rest at lunch time before we proceeded to play “Treasure Hunt” (the main game of this project) with the 5 year old students, whom we divided in four different teams. Each group had a lot of fun looking for the “gold” while they followed the clues and the

them.

When we had finished this important activity we went back to the Primary classes. There we could show them one of the “methods” we use in order to improve the degree of autonomy of the children and the development of their multiple intelligences.

COLEGIO SALESIANO SAN JUAN BOSCO EDUCACIÓN INFANTIL In the evening, we had a very nice time since we took the tram to the capital of the island, Santa Cruz, where we enjoyed shopping; having a drink and going for a walk. To finish the day; we had a great dinner at the Nivaria Hotel and we celebrated the birthday of one of the Turkish guests; we sang the “Happy Birthday Song” in our four languages.

Tuesday, the 27th of May 2014 To begin the day, we had a meeting to decide what we are going to do in the next four visits; we exchanged observations and settled to keep working on the outdoor activities; cultural trips and, above all, trying to get the kids more directly involved in the project. Subsequent to the “get-together”, all the children from pre-school and primary school went out to the future basketball court to enjoy outdoor activities of different sort. In this case, not all the groups went outside at the same time but in a specific order (1º 3 years old; 2º 4 years old; 3er 5 years old; 4º Primary). The Spanish team learned that doing Outdoor Activities not only means working on the nature but also bringing forth the same activities you carry out indoors; outside instead- to turn them into games more appealing and enriching for the children.

COLEGIO SALESIANO SAN JUAN BOSCO EDUCACIÓN INFANTIL Before lunch time, we visited another school-Nuryana- which is close to ours. Here, we watch some traditional games of the Canary Islands; such as “El Salto del Pastor” (“The Shepherds´ jump”) and different self-defense techniques to shield you from the enemies centuries ago. We had lunch at our school and then the oldest children (Primary) relished the outdoor activities we had planned for them. In the nightfall, we took an English guided tour around La Laguna where we were able to enjoy the old buildings of this city and find out more about its history. After the “expedition”, free time was given to go shopping or to have a nap. Once everyone had bought presents or rested we had a dinner-at “La Cuadra de El Palmero”- where our visitors could taste some of the traditional meals from the island; we all gained a few kilos after this huge and eternal dinner. Wednesday, the 28th of May 2014 We rejoiced the Day of The Canary Islands along the whole morning, even though it was not the actual “Day of the Canary Islands”; but we had decided to celebrate it on this Wednesday in order to show our guests the traditional costumes, foods, games and music. In spite of the rainy weather, children and teachers from every country participated in the eight games we had organized for that day; such as “La Tángana; la Bola Canaria; El Tajaraste; el

Later on; we headed towards the theatre to handover “The Certificates of Participation”. Furthermore; we showed them a video with pictures of the outdoor activities and cultural trips from the last three meetings in Turkey, Sweden and Austria, respectively. Moreover, to express our gratitude suitably we delivered some presents to all our special guests. Afterwards, we were collected by a woman on a bus that drove us to have lunch at “Bodegón Campestre” and to the highest peak of Spain; the volcano named “El Teide”.

To conclude the journey, we had a delightful dinner with the headmaster and the rest of the Pre-School and Primary School Team at “El Patio Canario”.
