SOFTS & FREDI VIAUD

Being a team that’s passionate about creating sensational drinks, unique flavour combinations and providing genuine hospitality, we realise that, all too often, the teetotallers are neglected. Acknowledging that our relationship with food, drink and wellbeing is constantly evolving and changing the way we socialise, it seems only natural for us at Charlotte’s W5, Ealing’s local hub, to develop a creative offering for those that prefer a non-alcoholic beverage. Fredi, our head bartender, spent a lot of time researching the best soft drinks in London, experimenting with home-made non-alcohol wine and asked beer expert, Melissa Cole to curate an exclusive low alcohol beer list for us. In this issue we are proud to introduce an extensive soft drinks section for you to enjoy throughout the day. A natural yoghurt drink in the morning, a refreshing cold infusion or cold brew coffee in the afternoon, a chilled glass of “wine” or a quenching beer with your meal, and even a cocktail to end the night. We’ve covered all occasions and are sure you’ll find something you love…

Electric Coffee Co started life in Ealing with a shop on Haven Green in 2008, gaining a reputation as one of the best coffee shops in London. They have since popped up in Old Street too. Their coffee is roasted by hand in their Sussex roastery, using a state of the art Loring roaster. SPIRITS

Rare Tea Company was founded in the Spring of 2004 by Henrietta Lovell. She comes from a long line of traders and adventurers. In 1844 her great, great, great grandfather, William Lovell, founded Lovell & Christmas – the once-famed provision merchants on Smithfield. It is also rumoured she is related to the infamous botanist Robert Fortune, who stole the tea bush from China to break the monopoly of Chinese production. Despite this heritage, leaving a successful career in corporate finance and risking everything to sell leaf tea to a nation of tea bag drinkers might seem foolhardy. When Henrietta began developing Rare Tea Company in the late 1990 s she was universally advised that there wasn't a market for proper, loose leaf tea in Britain. But she believed that if people had access to the best they would soon be converted. It might have taken longer than she would have liked but that conversion is under way.
