I have been so excited about gaining practical experience I could hardly wait to get into the classroom. Many questions are within me- What is the teacher like? Will I enjoy working with these special children? Is this field I want to enter…?” “Three of the children stayed inside to work on assignments they had not completed so I observed them a bit. When they saw that I was, they started to show off a little. They argued back and forth blaming each other for copying from their papers…” “Today I graded test papers. It was a learning experience because it involved making decisions about who really knew the material and those that were trying to ‘beat around the bush.’ While I graded papers, the class got in a circle and discussed a book they had recently read. It was interesting to me how Mrs. ___________ let the class comment with jokes and show their personality, but yet always brought them back to the subject.”
