Application:

10

The cleaning agents of the series R 5800 have shown best results as cold-cleaning agents in the processing of circuit-printing inks for the removal of inks from printing screens, implements and ink-processing units. Also in case of misprints or miscoatings, ink that is not yet cured can be removed with no residue.

11

Special notes:

12

Due to their chemical composition and their properties, the cleaning agents of the series R 5800 are especially suitable for the following processing purposes (also refer to point 8 "Processing"). 3.1

Manual screen-cleaning We recommend the cleaning agent R 5814 and R 5817 for this purpose.

3.2

Screen-washing units/ink-processing units For this purpose, the cleaning agent R 5821 has shown best results due to its high flash point (+ 32 °C) and the corresponding classification into hazard class A II according to VbF (provisions for flammable liquids).

5.

Dangerous goods regulation: Detailed specifications of safety precautions, environmental protection, waste disposal, storage, handling, exhaust air regulations as well as other characteristics can be found in the material safety data sheet EEC 91/155. When using chemicals, the common precautions should be noted carefully.

6.

Properties: The cleaning agents of the series R 5800 stand out for the following properties: − − − −

fast and intensive cleaning excellent ink-dissolving property complete evaporation with no residue, also in plated-through holes no dissolving of screen stencils and base material − free of aggressive substances, i. e. acids, therefore non-caustic

7.

Mixing ratio: not applicable

8.

Please check the gaskets according to their suitability. We recommend the use of Teflon® or Viton® gaskets.

Processing: An optimal cleaning effect is reached by observing the following recommendations:

8.1

Manual screen cleaning The cleaning agents R 5814 and R 5817 are best suited for this purpose. In order to avoid contamination or damage of screens and stencils, we recommend the use of soft, non-fuzzing cloth or soft brushes. The cloth can be soaked with the help of a so-called "solvent-dispenser" (available in the screenprinting trade). Compared with R 5814, R 5817 has a faster and more intensive cleaning power. R 5814, however, has less odour. Remark:

8.2

In case of interruptions in the working process, spray the screens with our screenopener HP 5200, which will simplify considerably the subsequent cleaning of the screen.

Screen-washing units/ink-processing units: Due to the high flash point (+ 32°C) and the corresponding classification into hazard class A II according to VbF (provisions for flammable liquids), the cleaning agent R 5821 is preferably used in screen-washing units and for the cleaning of ink-processing units.

Sheet 2: Cleaning agents of the series R 5800

8.2.1 Curtain-coating units: The cleaning agent R 5821 is excellent for the cleaning of curtain-coating units. For this purpose, R 5821 is poured into the ink-storage tank of the coating unit and pumped through the unit for several minutes. The cleaning process has to be repeated with fresh cleaning agent, if necessary. In order to ensure an optimum removal of the cleaning agent from the pump circuit, a final rinsing should be carried out with the corresponding ink thinner. 8.3

Lacquer removal from tools and PCB-misprints In case of either ink residues on tools or PCB-misprints or miscoatings, ink which is not yet cured can be removed with the cleaning agents of the series R 5800 by dipping/flooding and/or by additional rubbing with a brush.

8.4

Recycling of used cleaning agents The cleaning agents which are contaminated with ink can be completely recycled by destillation. However, the destillate should always be mixed with fresh cleaning agent. The quantity of the added agent must be at least 30 %. We recommend pre-trials of the cleaning effect. Attention:

9.

As all solvents tend to extract the natural grease from the human skin, all operators handling these cleaners should wear protective gloves. In addition, a suitable hand lotion should be available. We recommend "Stokolan" of Chemische Fabrik Stockhausen & Cie., Postfach 5 70, 47705 Krefeld, for example.

Adjustment of viscosity: Not applicable.

10. Auxiliary products: As auxiliary products for screen-printing we recommend the following products: 10.1 Screen-opener HP 5200 − − − −

Spray for dissolving dried circuit-printing inks on screens contains extremely active substances, so immediately effective against clogged screens silicone and grease-free CFC-free propellant

10.2 Anti-static spray HP 5500 − any static charge which occurs during the screen-printing process can be avoided or removed with the help of the anti-static spray HP 5500. − solvent, silicone and grease-free − CFC-free propellant Special technical reports on these products are available on request. In our technical report manual these reports are filed under group 5.

11. Cleaning: Not applicable.

12. Curing conditions: The cleaning agents of the series R 5800 evaporate without any residue at room temperature.

p. t. o.

13. Standard packing: The cleaning agents of the series R 5800 are packed for delivery as follows: can containing 25 kg or barrel containing 170 kg Smaller packages are possible, but will entail corresponding surcharges for small packaging and/or packing costs. If the goods are despatched by air or by sea, the necessary air-/seafreight will be charged additionally.

14. Storing properties: In a cool, dry place, sealed original packings can be stored for at least 9 months. In accordance with DIN ISO 9000 ff, labels show expiry dates. ATTENTION:

Storage temperatures of more than +25 °C affect the storing stability.

15.
