QuickStart Control Panel

Good to go QuickStart lives up to its name in every respect. Easy to install, simple to set up, and rock-solid when it comes to performance, this system is an installer’s dream. QuickStart lets you choose one of three easy programming methods: our exclusive auto-learn routine, front panel programming combined with its built–in scanner barcode port, or the laptop configuration utility.

QS4 Intelligent/Conventional Control Panel

Meet the family Three models make up the QuickStart family. As a hybrid system, QS4 combines support for up to 1,000 intelligent detectors and modules along with as many as 48 conventional Class B or a combination of 40 Class A and Class B initiating device circuits (IDCs). QS1 supports intelligent circuits only, and has capacity for 250 intelligent detectors and modules. Both QS4 and QS1 take full advantage of EST’s exclusive Signature Series technology, which provides electronic addressing, automatic device mapping, environmental compensation, and true multisensor detection. The third member of the QuickStart family is the QSC conventional-only panel. The QSC provides up to 48 Class B

or a combination of 40 Class A and Class B IDCs. With builtin support for the innovative C2M family of smoke detectors, even QSC and QS4 hard-wired circuits are anything but conventional. C2M devices reduce false alarms with multicriteria detection and drift compensation, and offer innovative maintenance features including a “hands-free” sensitivity test and replaceable optical chamber.

Flexible With QuickStart the possibilities are truly endless: schools, hospitals, retail and office facilities, apartment buildings, and factories are just a few of the applications QuickStart was specifically designed to meet. Add in our Signature Series

and Genesis devices and your system becomes a life safety powerhouse.

Best of both worlds With options that support intelligent or conventional circuits, or a mixture of both, QuickStart is an ideal solution for new and retrofit applications alike. Retrofit applications enjoy the best of both worlds. QuickStart’s support for both intelligent and conventional circuits ideally positions this innovative line of control panels for upgrading an existing system all at once or in stages. The choice is no longer limited by the hardware. In fact, Signature Series’ unique ability

to use existing wiring means costly rewiring is not required in most cases. If the wiring is trouble free and meets CEC Section 32 guidelines, it is ready for Signature Series, saving time and money. QuickStart is the kind of system you can turn your back on and walk away from, secure in the knowledge you won’t be back any time soon. Installations are kept simple with re-use of existing wire, quick programming, easy system expansion, and outstanding reliability. QuickStart’s fail-safe mode provides even further reliability by ensuring the system will activate its signals and dialer in the event of an alarm – even if the CPU loses communications with the other modules in the cabinet. It’s like having a backup fire watch built into every panel!

Mix and Match… With QuickStart you no longer have to make the commitment to either conventional or intelligent. The QS4 lets you specify conventional now, upgrade to intelligent devices later, or put Signature Series into a new addition and keep existing devices in the rest of the building. The choice is yours.

At a glance QuickStart control panels are as simple to operate as they are to set up. The front panel display provides 14 lines of text for QS4 and QS1 (intelligent) panels, and four lines of text for the QSC (conventional) panel. Its large backlit LCD display provides easy-to-understand details concerning up to 1,000 system events, while bright system status LEDs and large, tactile control buttons present a clean, crystal clear interface. Four password levels limit control and information retrieval to authorized personnel, and a priority access keyswitch gives instant control to management and emergency response personnel. Up to eight mirrored remote annunciators reflect front panel messages and status indicators over an RS-485 connection. Annunciators may be configured for Class A or Class B wiring.

QuickStart Highlights... • Microprocessor-based with built-in programmer • Fail-safe mode ensures uncompromised reliability • Class A (Style 7) or Class B (Style 4) wiring options • Capacity for eight remote annunciators • Two alarm, trouble, and supervisory contacts • Smart selection of dialer messages • Three programming methods: 1) QuickStart “Auto-learn” 2) Front panel programming 3) Configuration Utility • Optional bar code scanner for direct device data entry • Optional front panel switches with dual LEDs • Multiple cabinet sizes, surface or semiflush mounting • Four password levels, plus priority access keyswitch • Message routing by event type or by individual message • Alarm/Pre-alarm sensitivity by time of day or manual selection • 1,000 event history buffer, plus alarm history counter • 6 amp Power Supply, 4.75 amps available for external use

Models of discretion

Good thinking

All QuickStart panels feature generous 6 amp power supplies to support the award-winning Genesis family of notification appliances. Genesis represents the evolution of fire alarm signals, offering a discrete alternative to bulky devices. About the size of a deck of cards, Genesis models feature clean modern lines, so that they blend inconspicuously with their surroundings.

New installations benefit from the widely acclaimed Signature Series® family of intelligent devices. Signature Series multisensor detectors interpret information from several sources to arrive at a considered conclusion. This means that a single multisensor detector can distinguish between a harmless puff of dust and a wisp of smoke; between hot, humid weather and a serious life safety condition.

Though designed for discretion, Genesis signals are also engineered to command attention when needed. Wallpenetrating high dB output and patented FullLight® strobe technology immerse the protected area with levels of light and sound that simply can't be ignored — all in exchange for the lowest current demands of any device in their class.

Now no job is too small for true multisensor technology, environmental compensation, electronic addressing, and the power of intelligent processing that, before QuickStart, was the exclusive domain of big systems. The result, regardless of system size QuickStart installations deliver the false alarm immunity, lightning fast response, and product reliability proven with Signature Series Technology.

With Genesis horn-strobes you also save on wiring costs, thanks to exclusive technology that delivers independent horn control over just a single pair of wires. This important and highly desirable feature makes it possible to silence the horns while the strobes remain active.
