Fill in the Home Row on the paper Keyboard Introduction to Tux Typing Discuss Words Per Minute and Accuracy Practice Test 10-Home Row

Each week the students are introduced to two new keys on the keyboard. They record the keys on their paper keyboard, follow the lesson on Dance Mat Typing, and take a test in Tux Type. The students also go onto www.ABCya.com, Tux Paint, and play typing games in Tux Type when they finish their lesson.

Lesson Internet Safety discussion Demonstrate how to go to http://www.netsmartzkids.org/ by typing in the web address in Internet Explorer. Students will use Router’s Birthday Surprise on this Website to learn about Internet Safety. Assessment: Students will share what they learned about Internet Safety and create an Internet Safety poster in Microsoft Word. The students will also learn how to save, open, and print a document.

Keyboarding PracticeThroughout the semester the students also take a test in Tux Type at the beginning of each class to review the keys on the keyboard. They record their WPM (words per minute) and Accuracy score to meet their grade level goal of 5 WPM with 75% accuracy.

The students will learn about reliable sites, how to navigate between open pages, skimming for information, and citing sources.
