This is to be used as a general checklist; it is not inclusive of all code requirements and inspection criteria.

FOUNDATION INSPECTION Look for indications of a cesspool or septic tank. With stamped approved plans, inspect form width and depth and reinforcing steel. With signed survey, check setbacks using pins or property corner tags and possibly a string line. Obtain soils memo and/or observe competency of the excavation bottoms. (See Practices and Procedures #2 and #3) Check hardware such as hold-down embedment, location, type. Inspect UFER ground. [LOCAL CODE82.2.10] Check that shoring letter or letters have been submitted to City; may require soils engineer's signature as well as project engineer's signature. (where applicable) Check to see if sewer cap and demolition have been signed off. (where applicable) Sewer cap must be inspected and signed off prior to approving the foundation inspection. Parking garage and carport sizes (driveway slope requirement maximum 20% w/6’ min chords @ 12% max transitions). Stairs - equal treads - check exterior stairs’ width with allowance for fences, handrails, and guardrails. Minimum stairs’ clearance width shall be 36". Notice that grade beam needs deputy inspection and laboratory reports for 3000 psi. Expansive soils requirements. [LOCAL CODE 81.2.16] Zone 3 and 4 requirements. [UBC 1806.6]
