Valley Plaza Recreation Center is involved in a City-sponsored program called “Raise the Bar.” The objective of this program is to promote and provide sports opportunities to girls and women. Our goal, at Valley Plaza Recreation Center, is to increase girls’ and women’s participation in sports activities by providing a variety of choices in sports programming. Valley Plaza R.C. offers youth sports, clinics, classes, adult leagues, camp and sports camp, all of which provide opportunities for girls and women of all ages to develop sports skills and participate in sports activities.

FINGERPRINTING All volunteers that participate at Valley Plaza Recreation Center must be fingerprinted by the Department of Recreation and Parks.

All reservations must be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to date. Center classes and programs have priority. NO PRIVATE LESSONS OR TRAININGS WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISION FROM FULL TIME STAFF.

MOON-BOUNCE (Jumper) Information There are no refunds for jumper permits. Jumper permits are on a rain or shine basis and are issued on Fridays 5-7 pm. and Saturdays 1-3 pm. They are only allowed near the pool and behind the library. To request a jumper permit, you must use one of the jumper approved companies listed with the City of Los Angeles, pay a $42 fee for the jumper permit. INDOOR FACILITY AREAS Rooms are available for rent during non-programming hours. You must have prior approval by full time recreation staff. Date and time restrictions may apply. FACILITY OUTDOOR AREAS Based on field availability, baseball daylight play is $25/hour, plus Staffing fees. When lights are used, $35/hour during open hours and $57/per hour after hours. For weeknights from 6 pm on. Sunday field usage including soccer fields, please call Municipal Sports Office (818) 765-0284. TENNIS COURTS

Registration Hours: Monday - Friday 9:15 am—8:30 pm Saturday 9:15 am—3:30 pm

 

Are open (for tennis only) daily from 10:00 am - 9:00 pm on a first come, first serve basis. Valley Plaza approved tennis classes have priority. No private lessons allowed.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION GENERAL REGISTRATION Fall registration start Saturday, August 6, 2016, for sports. Class Registration begins September 3, 2016. Registration will be ongoing until class or programs are full. Class space is limited. Fall classes are scheduled to start in September 2016, (except pay Guitar/Piano which are monthly basis). No make-ups for missed classes by students. Prorating prices on classes only. Persons with disabilities are welcome to participate in our programs. Reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements. Due to low cost of our programs, scholarships are offered sparingly and with the availability of sponsorships.

METHOD OF PAYMENTS Checks, Money Orders, Credit Cards (Master Card or Visa), and cash (exact amount). Please make checks payable to “City of Los Angeles”. Payment is required in full at the time of registration.

LA KIDS CLASSES The Valley Region has took over the “FREE” L.A. Kids CLASS programs. These programs were formally made possible by a Community Development Block Grant funded by the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development. There is a limit to one free class per child unless class is still under capacity after one week. Registration begins September 3, 2016. Classes start October 3,2016— November 22, 2016.

Registration will be ongoing until evaluations are submitted or until each division is full.

Registration includes: a jersey, pants, socks, cap, award, practices, games, administration and umpire fees.

Valley Plaza After-School Program offers quality, educational, recreational, and cultural activities that promote the social, physical, intellectual, and emotional development for youth. Activities include: homework tutoring, educational games, sports, arts and crafts. Transportation is provided from local schools. Program runs on school days only. We do pick ups on Shorten days, may require a SURCHARGE. No program on holidays. Parents are responsible for notifying center of shortened school days.

Open basketball gym is available for the community. The gym consist of one full court and six baskets. Open Gym hours are subject to change with out notice. Open Gym is subject to gym rules. Please observe them. Hours and days subjects to change and close on holidays.

We are currently looking for Adult Basketball Players. Games will be on Thursday nights (women) and Sunday Mornings (men). Registration fee is $30 per player plus officials and scorekeeper fees. Call after 5pm for more information! Ask for Evan Nakamura.

All volunteers that participate at Valley Plaza Recreation Center must be fingerprinted and cleared by the Department of Justice and before working with children. Make your city great!

PARK ADVISORY BOARD We are always looking for active community members to join our PAB. The PAB normally meets quarterly. For next scheduled date please check the bulletin board in the lobby of the Recreation Center. Meeting location is usually in the child care center.
