PROGRAMS [design economy] forums All design100 programs focus on growing design demand. We do this so our society can leverage the most effective, proven and understood method to accelerate transformation, design. The focus of the [design economy] forums is to explore not how the Nike swish was made, but the economic impact of the Nike swish. The forums also explore the challenges in building businesses models to support design led innovation, the best practice to manage design led projects and the success stories of how companies have leveraged their design programs. The forums take advantage of a unique gathering of design commissioners, design creators and advisory panel members assembled for the [city] design awards presentation. The single day forum format is a fast paced facilitated discussion led by key industry groups and advisory panel members. The panel are there not to tell their stories but to illuminate the back story of the winning projects, to help highlight what made the project great and how the economic drivers impacted both the direction and outcomes. [maker] design awards Started in 2015 the [maker] design awards celebrates the courage of design makers, both those inspired through traditional design/craft plus those inspired through tech maker tools. The awards programs are overseen by an industry expert advisory panel and are formed through curated and open nominations. Top awards are the Chairman’s Award and Best Start-Up, additional awards will focus on the best use of materials, best use of tech, best use of method. Plus specialised categories for 3D printing, IoT, Furniture, Homewares, Business Items.

NOMINATIONS - OVERVIEW The design100 awards programs are based on a combination of Curated and Open Nominations. Nominations are based on design projects/products and specify both the design commissioner and design creator along with a series of project details. Most nominations are completed in less than 20min. The nomination management system allows draft nominations to be submitted and updates until final submission. Curated Nominations Curated Nominations are made by the advisory panel. These nominations are supported by commercial partners and design100. Nominations supported by commercial partners are curated into a single collection to show their area of association with the awards. Over the last 5 years we’ve seen many commercial partners leveraging to have their brand associated with the advisory panel curated selection. This not only drives value for their brand but also lightens the load on curation of projects. Open Nominations Open Nominations are structured in three fee levels; early bird, standard and late. The best option is to use the early bird period as this offers the most cost effective way to nominate a project. Studio Partner Nominations Studio Partners sign up for 6, 12 or 18 nomination packs – this provides a bulk discount, plus site branding for their studio along with a dedicated list of studio nominations. It gives a studio the capacity to gather all their projects into the one collection. Studio partners fit into three motivations – brand building, brand presence or project pride. Nothing tells a client and team that you are proud of your work more than submitting it into an awards program. Multiple nominations are a key way to build standing in the best design studio award. Supplier Partner Nominations Supplier Partners sign up for 12 or 24 nomination packs – this provides a bulk discount, a series of promo codes to distribute to their eco system plus site branding for their brand along with a dedicated list of nominations. It gives a brand the capacity to gather all associated projects into the one collection. For suppliers who see their product or service being implemented in leading design projects, the Supplier Nominations provides a method for them to recognise those who have implemented great projects utilizing their product or service.
