Slide Presentation Template 25% of the value of the slide design and structure is associated with the basic slide template: background, title bar, slide transition, and text font and color palette. 1. Background When you view a slide presentation you are looking through 3 layers with the background as the bottom layer. In this course, you are asked to use a picture as the background. The background image is used to create the general theme of the slide presentation. This presentation is designed to discuss the history behind Webber’s buildings. The background picture shows several buildings on campus. The image has been processed to show less contrast, to be darker, and to be slightly out of focus. On the ribbon, click on background window.

Click on and . Switch to the folder that contains the images. Select WebberBackground02.

Remember, if you do not follow these steps, you do not have a background image. The image may be behind all of the objects on the slide, which may make it appear to be a background, but it is not a background. 2. Title Bar. When you view a slide presentation, you are looking through 3 layer. In the last section you created the bottom layer – the background. The middle layer is the master slide. On the master slide you will include several objects that add to the background image in showing the general theme of the presentation. These objects are called the “title bar.” For this course, you must have a minimum of 2 objects in the “title bar.”

3. Slide Transition Slide transition identifies how one slide changes into the next slide. Slide transition is important because it provides a visual indicator to the audience that the presentation is changing to a new slide.

On the ribbon, click on to create a text box. Position the text box anywhere on the slide. Select the text box. On the

ribbon, set the font and text color.

On the ribbon, select . For this course, you must select an appropriate slide transition on all slides. There are a variety of appropriate slide transitions. For a slide transition to be appropriate, the background and objects on the Master Slide cannot move, be covered over, stretch, etc. There are several slide transition properties that can be set. You can change the speed of the transition. If the slide transition is too fast, then the audience loses that visual indicator. If the slide transition is too slow, it can cause you to have to wait in your oral presentation.

When to advanced. For a live oral presentation, you want the advance to be on the mouse click. For a recorded oral slide presentation, you want the advance to be “after”. Click on to create the same slide transition for all slides within the slide presentation.

Set the body text font/color as the default font for all new text boxes.

The other three do not have a number – this indicates no other mouse click. The boxes at the end will indicate whether the animation starts after previous or with previous. The second and third objects begin at the same time after the first object’s animation has completed. The forth item begins after the second and third object’s animation have completed. Press the button (lower left corner below the slide) to run the slide presentation from the current slide. Press ESC key to stop.

Build the remaining body slides. Create entrance animation for all objects. Begin each slide (no mouse clicks) with the slide title and the supporting images. Select appropriate entrance animation type. Do not allow an object to move into the slide while moving over or under other objects on the slide. Animate the name of each building (text box) on its own mouse click. If there is more than one building name, dim all (except for the last item); use the same dim color as on the outline slide.

Closing Slide (slide 9) For this course, the closing slide is NOT a “The End” or a “Q&A” slide. The contents of the slide should let the audience know that the presentation is over without saying “The End.” What response do you want from the audience? What is the most important concept that you want the audience to take from the presentation? In this presentation there is no audience response (such as purchasing a product or registering for an event). The most important concept is that Webber is going to continue to grow and build to meet the future needs of the students.

Every object on the closing slide is animated, but there are no mouse clicks. Select appropriate type of entrance animation. Blank slide at the end (slide 10)
