CIS & CEE Downstream Project Management Conference

3rd Annual Conference • 2-3 November 2016 • Vienna, Austria

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to welcome the participants of the third CIS & CEE Downstream Project Management Conference.

The German politician Otto von Bismarck once said “Smart people do not learn from their own mistakes, but from those made by others.”

We are sure the event will be an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge and experience in project management, modernisation and improving the quality of oil products. Please allow us congratulate GBC on the initiative to organize the event here, in Vienna and organize a site-visit to the Schwechat refinery and Borealis plant.

This saying is very applicable to the downstream project management where each mistake could cost a lot and project managers are constantly looking for solutions and technologies, which can enable their teams to avoid mistakes and to deliver a project to schedule and on budget.

We will be happy to welcome specialists from CEE and CIS regions at our sites, to share with them our achievements. The integrated refinery and petrochemical complex in Schwechat is among the largest and most complex inland refineries and petrochemical plants in Europe. It covers around half of the demand for oil products in Austria. The complex distinguishes itself by having the highest safety, environmental and product standards including optimum market proximity. We hope this site-visit will provide delegates with a unique opportunity to explore operational and technical implications in greater depth. We wish all participants productive work during the conference and a great time in Vienna!
