CHURCH ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL

DEAR PARENTS If you are reading this prospectus then I assume you are trying to make the difficult decision about which school to send your son or daughter to. This important decision will affect your family for many years. I firmly believe that children learn best in an environment where they feel secure and confident. It is my aim to create a school where happy children succeed academically through a wide range of experiences that make learning fun. We are well on the way to achieving this aim. The nursery and reception classes are consistently graded highly by the local authority and OfSTED for their exciting and vibrant learning environments. The infant classes have access to a range of play activities which reinforce the classroom learning.

They also have a range of visitors and trips out of school to make their learning meaningful. The junior classes on our top floor are finding an increasing number of ways to bring the outside world in to the classroom by using a range of digital media resources. We are aiming to increase the number of educational visits to support the children’s learning. I do hope you find the information in this prospectus useful. Please feel free to ring the school to make an appointment to visit. We would welcome the opportunity to show you around our school. Yours sincerely

The children are allowed to bring in a healthy snack from Year One onwards. This should be fruit, a cereal bar or similar, definitely no chocolates or crisps! In reception and nursery snacks are provided for the children.

SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS At Church Road we endeavour to treat each child as an individual, ensuring that all children reach their full potential. The school has a policy for Special Educational Needs which is in line with the Special Needs Code of Practice.

At Church Road we ... treat each child as an individual .

When a child is considered to have special educational needs they are identified by the class teacher who, in consultation with the special needs co-ordinator, Mrs Gough, will draw up an individual education plan. This plan will outline the steps that need to be taken to help the child progress in line with their peers. The plan may involve some extra work at home, as well as support in school.

R.E AND COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Our Religious education syllabus is based on the Agreed Syllabus which was produced by an interdenominational panel in Bolton. It teaches children about

a variety of religions in order to develop their understanding of people from different backgrounds and cultures.

We have a daily act of collective worship which is broadly Christian, in line with government legislation.
