Christmas 2016 Dear Parishioners, Christmas is a special time for us – a time to recognize the love and goodness of God; a time to know that Christ has come among us; a time to remember that God now shares the same joys and sorrows that we do; a time to rejoice in the hope of eternal life that Jesus brings to each of us. We welcome all of you, those who celebrate with us daily and weekly, and those who have been away for a while. We invite each of you to celebrate with us, and we ask that you please bring a friend to celebrate with us as well. Thank you for all the kindness, support, encouragement and generosity you’ve shown during the year. May the newborn Christ Child bless you, your families and your homes. Msgr. Steven A. CHRISTMAS CAROLS The Choir will be singing Carols on December 24th, 30 minutes before the 5 pm mass and 30 minutes before the 10 pm mass. The children will sing at the 5pm and the Adults will sing at the 10 pm mass. The Carols before the 10 pm mass will be Bi-lingual. FAMILY CHRISTMAS EVE SUGGESTIONS 1. Plan a birthday party for the Baby Jesus. Have a birthday cake, napkins, balloons and be sure to sing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus. 2. Turn off all the lights in the house or apartment except the tree lights. Each family member carry a small lit candle and choose someone to carry the Baby Jesus. Have a procession all through the house singing “Silent Night”. Then place Jesus in the manger under the tree. Christmas morning, presents can go under the tree. 3. Darken the house or apartment and light one candle. Read aloud the Christmas story from Luke 2:1:20 and sing carols. 4. Burn a candle in the front window of the house and stay up until it burns out on its own. Started in Ireland many years ago, this custom is a welcome to the Christ Child. CATHOLIC CHARITIES CHRISTMAS COLLECTION Bishop DiMarzio invites all to join him in this year’s Annual Catholic Charities collection. The collection takes place at all Christmas Masses. Please return the special Catholic Charities envelope from your envelope packet with your gift. If you did not receive a printed envelope, we ask you to use a Catholic Charities envelope available in the Church or your own blank envelope marked for “Catholic Charities”. Bishop DiMarzio urges all to join in sharing God’s love with families and children in need by giving generously to this year’s Catholic Charities Christmas collection. Christmas is upon us, and once again we ask for your help to make our church beautiful by making an offering for flowers in memory of a loved one. The usual offering is $10. Envelopes are provided at the doors of the church. The names of those memorialized and the donor will be published in the bulletin.

REGISTRATION Please register as a member of our parish if this is where you regularly attend church. Registration forms are available in the parish office. Offering envelopes come with registration, and using them enables us to give you a report of your contributions for tax purposes. Having your name in our records is the only way we have of certifying that you are a practicing Catholic, as we have to do for people who are being asked to serve as sponsors (godparents) of Baptism or Confirmation.
